Philanthropy round

What do you do for your craft? How does it work and how expensive is it?

Just wondering! :)

We've done several different projects in the past few years.

The year I went through, we made stationery sets for a local women's hospital by attaching fake flowers to pens using floral tape (wrapping the green floral tape around the pens made stems!) and using card stock to make paper for the stationery gift bags.

However, my personal favorite was the year we painted mini flower pots to give to Habitat homeowners! It was a little messy, though, and we had to have lots of paper down. There weren't any accidents though. (A lot of the painting was done with paint pens.)

We have a fairly low budget that we're allowed to use at my school (less than $1,000 for the week), so both projects can be done fairly inexpensively.

This year, Gamma Xi did door hangers that said "Welcome Home!" for Habitat. Our local philanthropy is the American Cancer Society and our big event every year is Relay for Life so we also made a banner where every potential could stamp her hand in purple or pink paint and put it on the banner. We had it laminated so we could use it over and over again and I believe the philanthropy chair painted our letters on it and a message about AST supporting the fight against cancer. Both were cheap to do but a little messy. But the potentials really enjoyed it.
