Recruitment Party Ideas

Hey Ladies,

I am the new VPMR of my chapter! I am so excited about the postion. One thing that i have a heard from alot of girls that when through recruitment last year was that they didnt care for our first day party theme. Our theme was baseball because of the Strike Out tourament that we did last year. So i feel that we need to change it, we are also not doing the touramnet this year we are doing something new which i dont know yet.

I would love to hear the ideas that other AOPI chapters do so maybe i could use that has a guide line.

Last year our party themes were
First day-Baseball (Strike out tourment)
Second day- Hollywood (it was our chapters 50th anniversity so we went off that)
Third day - pref
Fourth day - Hawaii (bid day)

Thanks!!!
Can't wait to everyone's ideas

What is your first party like? What kinds of things are said/done at the party?

What do other chapters on campus do? Theta Beta changes their party theme every recruitment period, but that's the campus standard. My chapter (a million years ago) would use the same theme for decades! I think it's important to know what other chapters do to have an idea of how best to plan your new party.

For the first day why don't you do a AoPi day....Every thing is your letters, symbols and colors. I think this can be a very effective first day round or set because it is what all the PNM's expect a sorority to be like. I have seen it done VERY effectively. Good Luck!

our chapter in the past has normally done philanthropy for the 1st day but i talked to my advisor and she said that we dont have any rules on what the theme could be. The first day is really laid back. I just didnt know if there were any chapters that a theme or themes that they stuck with every year or what.

raggyann, congratulations on being elected VPMR! As I'm sure you already know, your Recruitment Adviser, CNS and MRC can provide you with a lot of information and suggestions. Especially your MRC, as she will have access to many party themes and scripts. You don't need to "reinvent the wheel" because most likely another chapter is already using something you can easily adapt for your chapter and campus.

Like AOII Angel said, determine your campus standard but I'll add to remember your chapter's personality. What works on a highly competitive traditional campus for first round may, or may not, work on your campus or for your chapter. I'll even go so far to suggest to make it simple and fun--what about a "Go State U" theme? One of my chapters uses a "Meet the AOII's" theme and decorates with pictures and scrapbook pages from the prior year (and the pictures are easy cues for discussion topics!)

Good luck and have fun!
