BGLO Question
Is it possible for me to join a BGLO if there is not a chapter on my campus?
|
Welcome to GC.
It depends on which BGLO you're interested in and why there is no chapter on campus. The first thing you should do is look on the national website for the org you'd like to join and check out their rules on membership, which will likely include a section that answers your question. In terms of what I have personally SEEN, it really all depends: If a chapter has been suspended, then you may have to wait until it comes off suspension before you apply. If the campus can't sustain a chapter, you might be able to become a member of a local graduate/alumnae/i chapter, or you may have to wait. If you campus has a Greek life advisor, you may want to talk to them. Like I said, there are a lot of variables, so go to the national websites first. |
Thanks for your advice!

You're welcome! Good luck, and remember discretion is key.

Also, there may be a city-wide undergrad chapter in your area ....check it out....and, as stated above ...be discreet. I wish you well in your endeavors :D

^^^ Good point! I had forgotten that in some cases, even if a particular school is part of a city-wide chapter, there might be years and years of a lack of interest and/or hostile attitude toward Greeks on that campus -- making it not worth the effort to hang fliers there.
Google... look for websites.... google the sorority's name in quotes and your school's name in quotes and see what happens. |
Thank you all. I know where my heart is set and I plan on doing whatever I can to achieve my goals. If anyone thinks of anything not mentioned here, please reply!

also...if there is no city wide chapter, and if your school doesnt have a chapter, it may be possible to join a chapter at a near by school. for example, say you go to College X, but there is no chapter there, or city-wide, but College Z is in the same city and has a chapter, you may be able to joing thru College Z's chapter. its been done plenty of times, but like the Sun said, it depends on the situation...
