Christmas Eve Shopper?

I'm a last minute shopper and every year I start my Christmas shopping on the 22nd or 23rd, but most of the time it's Christmas Eve when I start and finish. I'll admit, I'm a big procrastinator. Do any of you do Christmas Eve shopping? or have you done it?

My husband does it. I do not.

I like to relax the couple of days prior to Christmas, esp. this year. We have the kids the first part of Christmas break through Christmas Day. I want to relax on Christmas eve, have a nice family dinner, and go to the Christmas eve service at church. My shopping will be done next week :)

I prefer to have my Christmas shopping mostly finished before December ever starts

I forget the last Christmas when I didn't have to do most (or all) of my shopping on Christmas Eve. Even though I have a small family, they're very picky, and if you get them something that's not "on the list", they sulk all day on Christmas.

The last couple of years, though, I've gotten a head start & shopped online for a few things.

Yes when I had money to spend on Christmas, I usually got my stuff done by around the 15th. I miss having a job :(

My FATHER is the last minute shopper. This would not be a problem, but he enlists ME to help.

Dad - "I need to get a present for your mother. I have no idea what to get."

Me - " It's DECEMBER 24th!"

Dad - "Will you help?"

So there I am, stuck going to the stores on the 24th. I'm choosing to look at it as a family tradtion - me getting quality time with Dad!

Ugh
It really irritates me when people expect their gifts to ONLY come from their list.

This is the first time in about 5 years that I will not be a Christmas Eve shopper. When we were living in Boston it was easy to go downtown on Christmas Eve and complete my shopping. Even if the lines were long, I could walk around Copley Square, get coffee, and just relax.

Around here, though, needing to drive everywhere makes that tougher. Even though it's tough to get it done with my schedule, I made a point of going on Amazon and hitting a few stores to get most of my shopping done early.

That was my daddy, right up until the Christmas before he died! It got so the jewelers had things ready for us.

The best part is, they run amok with everyone else's list, but just can't handle it if someone gets creative with theirs. My brother had to waste some time at Best Buy two weeks ago, and during a call, asked me if I wanted an iPod for Christmas. I most emphatically said no. Anybody want to make some bets that I get an iPod this Christmas?

I'm trying to get all my shopping done and wrapped before Christmas Eve. I signed up to do wrapping for charity on the 24th. I figured that would make sure I was done early.

This is what I used to do. I'd come home from school for Christmas break and start my shopping a few days before the big day. It was great doing last minute Christmas shopping in Boston :)

But now.. well.. last weekend I went to the mall. I was there for a half hour before I wanted to run someone over with my car. I left, and I dread the thought of having to go back.

I think I'll do my Christmas shopping on-line this year.
