How LOYAL are they?
I saw an article a few weeks ago that stated that companies are predicting at least 1 million jobs will be cut this year  ~ the highest number in 4 years. With so many employment cuts, do you really feel that your company or place of employment is loyal to it's employees? Do you think that they will be as fair as possible if cuts are necessary, or will it be "political" (I'm speaking of office politics here)?
If you don't think that they are loyal to their employees, how does that effect your work ethic? And on the flip side, at this time, how loyal are you to your place of employment? |
Money talks.
If a company is losing millions, even billions, than it does what it must to stay afloat. The economy is in a tailspin now. Even if you are a dedicated employee, your job may have to be phased out if there are any cutbacks. As such, all employees, especially those who industries have been negatively affected by the attacks, should be weary. We live in a capitalist country, and the bottomline is always the most important thing. Actually, because of the industry I am in, the attacks have brought in more business. |
Compaq Employee
I work for Compaq. I am sure all of you have heard of the downsizing that they are doing. So far, I have kept my job and actually have had more duties added to my plate. With the attempted merger with HP... at least 15,000 more jobs are to be cut. I might be in that number. If I get cut, then so be it. I will get my severence package of full pay and benefits for about 4 months. Then I will be eligable for unemployment. I think I will be OK because I always can fall back to teaching. But others will not be so lucky... http://plauder-smilies.de/sad/bluecry.gif
