Chapter Development/Sisterhood Ideas
 
Hello everyone. I was recently appointed as VP of Chapter Development which is a sisterhood office and am in desperate need of some good ideas. We have chapter meeting every Sunday night at 7. I am planning on doing two sisterhood events a month. One event on Sunday that will be designated as a Family event where girls part of the same family can get to know each other better and then one other event during the month (probably on the weekend) where the whole chapter can attend together. I am just wondering if anyone has any creative ideas. I want the girls to have fun and really bond during these events. Sisterhood is something our chapter deffinately needs to work on. We have too many clicks in my opinion and the new girls need to get to know the chapter better. We are a small chapter of about 60 girls and do not have a chapter house. Thanks Everyone! :)

I'm in the same position! Our chapter is very small for our campus (only 40 members) which makes it so that we all know everyone, but big enough that we can form cliques. I've asked the girls what kinds of activities they would like to do, and they are looking for new ideas. We tend to do lots of arts and crafts, movie nights, and events with food. What are some other things that we can do?

Hey are you a DDD or do other orgainizations have that same position to?
My sisters idea is speed dating! Very fun!

My ideas - Scrapbooking and wooden craft night.
For the wooden craft night, everyone brings a craft that needs to be painted and exhanges with someone else and then together, everyone paints them.

The chapter I advise has about 80 members and the 6 sororities share one dormatory (no house). The chapter likes to do pot-luck style dinners for Freshmen-Sophomore, Sophomore-Junior, Junior-Senior, Sophomore-Senior, etc. When I was an undergrad at the same chapter back in the 90's we weren't so into cooking but once or twice a semester went to "quarter burger night" at one of the local fast-food joints as a chapter. Cheap food really tends to bring people together and allows them to get to know one another. I'm sure that those with a house would agree that dinnertime is probably one of the best networking opportunities available.

We do sisterhood events every week pretty much. Movie nights, game nights, etc. One way to really get to know your sisters is this game we do a lot which is pretty fun actually.
You all make a circle and someone starts in the middle. The person in the middle goes 'i know i know my sisters but what i really want to know is ____' and you say something. if you have done the thing she says then you have to move and switch spots with someone, and whoever is last is in the middle.

Other sisterhoods we have done include cookie decorating, and jeopardy (but the categories are about your house/sisters).

In my area, one of the Police Departments has free self defense classes occasionally. I would contact the local police department for suggestions on a speaker. If they don't have their own, they probably have one they can recommend.

There is a "new topic" button at the top of each forum. And the number completely depends on which university you are at and which group you are a part of.

The one that you really must do is a movie night because its a good way for everyone to bond together based on what movies they like and you can all have a good laugh together with it.

apart from that would just say lots of arts and crafts nights and maybe some game nights or outing activities??

We created groups of at least 10 so we can get to know more about each other. Each group would choose an activity whether it was going out to eat, bowling or etc.

It was nice because the atmosphere was more relaxed. :)
