As punishments go, it's certainly unusual. I can think of a certain neighbor that I'd like to subject to the Manilow Treatment...

Manilow is questionable. The theme from Barney is almost certainly cruel and unusual.

I've seen Barry in concert. Mom is a huge fan, so that wouldn't really be punishment for me. Barney would be horrible! I can't stand that show!

Be proud, sister! I can't say I own any Manilow, but I'm pretty sure I'd stop if he were on as I was flipping stations in the car, if only because his songs make me laugh with their perfect cheesiness. They're the audio equivalent of the Rotel and Velveeta dip. People are not usually going to talk about liking it, and yet, if you serve it, it gets consumed.

The Manilow "classics" aren't at all too bad.

It's when he tries to cover other peoples' music and Christmas favorites that make me go insane.

According to the article, the judge says that people must listen to music they don't like. I would guess that an offender who happens to like Barry Manilow would have to listen to something else.
