I'm assuming you're having a girl.
I'm really big on staying away from the traditional "Pepto pink" girl's room. The deeper purple one in your first post is probably my fave. |
^^^ Mine too!
|
Haha, yeah - we found out about 2 weeks ago that Annalisse Rose can be expected to arrive on April 9.
:-) And for some reason, I'm feeling really pink and girly. The dark purple one is called "Mulberry". |
I like bright pink and green for a girl's room. I find it quite cheerful.
|
The pink and brown one, of course!
|
AHHH!!! MY EYES!!! TOO MUCH PINK!!!!!!!
If you really want to go with one of the ideas you posted, my vote is: http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e1...ts01/julia.jpg Most of the others look like you painted the room with Pepto. |
I like all the bedding in them but i think in a lot of them there is way to much going on with the walls. . . I prefer a more soft muted room for a baby. . . My nieces room is white walls with a green border and really pretty floral rug that is the center piece. If i had to choose the fifth one in the second post thats mostly white with pink green yellow bedding!
Congrats on the girl!!!! |
As someone with a 1 month old girl, trust me when I tell you there will be plenty of pink *everything* to go around. I like pink, but have had to work very hard to keep her wardrobe to no more than 50% of outfits being pink. That is much harder than it sounds! Plus, every gift that you get will be pink. We own 5 pink nice blankets, and that doesn't count the additional 8 or so blankets that come in the packs. We have been given countless pink outfits, upteen pink stuffed animals, pink pictures frames, pink hats, washcloths, towels, etc. We didn't buy any of that... it was all gifts!
(side note on gifts to the gift-givers... consider buying baby something in sizes other than 0-3 months. We have received so many dresses in that size that there is literally no possible way she will ever wear them all. I lost count when we were in the 20s, yet they continue to come. We recently received an adorable outfit in 3-6 months and I was thrilled as we didn't have anything in that size yet. Just an idea for people.) All that to say, Winnie, choose pink as an accent color for the room, but consider another one as the primary. Our daughters room has taupe walls, and the bedding is a nice combo of taupe, light/soft/muted pink, and white. There is also a splash of light green to mix it up. I find her room very soothing and not overwhlemingly pink. Yet, there is enough pink to know it is a girls room. Again, I love pink too, but believe me... it really gets overwhelming when all the stuff starts pouring in. |

I vote for this one too! |
I like the first one in the second post because it's kinda retro, and not so, well, babyfied. I would bag the shadow box things on the wall though.
Re the baby dresses in small sizes: my mom received some that I was never small enough to fit into. She saved them and I ended up putting them on one of my dolls. :) Of course I thought that was super neat that she had "real" baby clothes. |
Congrats!
I like the second from the top on the RIGHT. Not really pink, but very girly and easy to match with other things (lots of colors in the scheme). |
If you're planning to have more than one child, it might be nice to stick to white or another soft pastel colored walls (someone mentioned taupe; grey would be nice, too), and choose the "soft" decor that can easily change to blue, too. It's easier to change blankets & hangings than furniture. If you're really sold on the photos, I like the third one down, first post (also the second one down on the left, first post).
Blondie93 makes a great point about baby clothing! As much as I coo over those "itty bitty" clothes, I always buy something in the 18-24 months size. One that goes over particularly well for girls is a denim jumper, with long- and short-sleeved tops. And always, a gift card for diapers!! |

When my best friends have babies, I often knit baby blankets for them. Baby blankets don't have sizes. ;) Blankets can be reused for subsequent babies, used in doll beds, incorporated into larger blankets, or handed down to the next generation. |
