One year rule

Hi there,

I know this has been posted elsewhere in this forum, I am still very unclear about the one year rule.

I have decided not to initiate the sorority I received a bid from for various reasons, however, I know with the one year rule I am not eligible for COB this year. That being said, when am I next eligible to either go through FR or COB events? (Is it one calender year from when I depledged or can I still go through FR in the fall on 2009)?

Thank you for your help! I really appreciate it!

If you went through formal recruitment 2008, then you're eligible to go through recruitment again in fall 2009.

KSUViolet is correct. It would be one year from when you accepted your bid, so you would be eligible to rush again in the fall. Please seriously consider what you are about to do. At many schools, sophomores have a more difficult time in recruitment, and if you have depledged another sorority, your chances will probably be even worse. Many groups will consider you, for lack of a better phrase, "damaged goods." If you do decide not to initiate, do so with the understanding that it may very well be the end of any possibility of Greek life for you.
