President Elect Barack Obama

Wow. what a night the other night was. I think its great. I think we have a great man becomming the President of the Unsited States. Not becaue he is black. I think he is great because he brought so many people out to vote.

people who are usually apathehic about voting (young people and minorities) came out in great numbers. They got involved in the political system, and I think that was beautiful. that is what America is all about. He builds bridges and brings people together. he deosnt focus on race. he is for everyone and that is great. me and my girlfirend (a delta) were at a Tavern watching the results. We were two of maybe 10 black people in the club. everyone was so excited about seeing Barack. it was great.

I fear two things though. Many African Americans voted for him simply because he was black, and I think they are expecting something. And when they dont get it they are going to turn on him. I hope not.

The other thing I am concerned about is i am a conservative Democrat (I dont believe ingay marriage, I am pro life and I dont believe in gun control) since we now have a Dempcratic Pres and a Democratic Congress, I hope we dont go to far to the left with issues such as gay marriages and what not.

But all in all, I am proud of Barack Obama. I look forward to him being my Commander in Chief. I think and I hope this changes the direction of America as a country. Something we can all be proud of.

Its funny how I came to support Obama. First, he blew me away with his 2004 Democratic Convention speech; I just instinctively knew that he was someone to watch. Once he announced his candidacy, I was intrigued but I thought it could never happen. When I found out about his wife (strong, intelligent, brown-skinned, professional, accomplished, etc.) I started looking at who he was and how he arrived at that point. But it was not until he won Iowa that I really gave him serious consideration as the Leader of the Free World. I read his bio Audacity of Hope and I have been a loyal fan ever since!

I take him seriously when he says that he will be the president of ALL of America and not just his supporters. Just because he was elected, does not mean that all the ills of the world will be healed or everyone whose agenda never got any play will all of a sudden be heard and implemented. Times are too serious for him to play partisan or identity politics; I don't think that is likely given his personality and temperment.

The country must be realistics in its expectations and give him all of the support that can possibly be mustered because he will need it. WHOEVER was elected would need this support!

Not trying to be offensive, but truly curious why are you registered a Democrat? Why not an Independent?
