Informal Recruitment

Does anyone know if Clemson, College of Charleston or University of South Carolina do informal recruitment? Thanks!

Have you checked each of their websites?

You would need to contact their Greek Life Offices, as they are the BEST source of info about whether they're doing it. Be advised that at some of the bigger greek schols, COB/informal may not be publicized on campus because the sororities have very few spots available.

Yes, I checked all their websites and couldn't find any information. I am actually looking at transferring to these schools and quite a few others and just didn't want to be calling/e-mailing 10 (intense I know) different Greek Life offices and thought maybe someone on here would know. Thanks though!

I would say,
1. Decide on a school
2. Keep your grades up
3. Get accepted
4. Then worry about COR.

Ugh (*back of hand to forehead dramatically*), 10 whole phone calls! Or *gasp* 10 separate emails! (which can be cut and pasted) Whatever shall I do? Can't someone spare me all that pain and suffering of such hard, toiling WORK?

For the love of god.

Benzgirl, I have actually already been accepted to those 3 which is why I was asking. But thank you for the advice. I do appreciate it.

And wow, I apologize for thinking a forum about recruitment would be able to help me with a recruitment question. Please don't think I am being lazy, I go to school, work 20 hours a week and volunteer 10, I know there are people who do far more, but I don't appreciate someone insinuating that I am not capable of working hard. I thought there would possibly be some women on here who would know the answer to my question and this would be a one stop shop, guess I won't ask anymore questions. Thanks for your help.

You're welcome!

Benzgirl 11-03-2008 05:58 PM

Nittany, you turned off your mind-reader switch.

nittanyalum 11-03-2008 06:00 PM

I know! I suck.

lauralaylin 11-03-2008 10:53 PM

Wouldn't you be only calling 3 offices as you were accepted to 3 schools?

Get your panties out of a wad and listen to the advice you've been given. KSUviolet said it straightaway, but apparently you ignored it.

At many schools COR is not publicized AT ALL. The only way anyone on GC would know for sure is if they were 1) employed by the campus's Greek life office or 2) a member of the chapter - and sometimes even (2) wouldn't get you the info, as there are only a very few spots available and they are "reserved" for women who are friends of current members.

This is not a "one stop shop." There is no such thing when it comes to Greek life.

I said it before and I'll say it again, you need to call/email the school's offices because they are the ones who know best. If you don't want to call/email, then you can ask girls you know who are Greek at those schools. Informal is not publicized on campus all the time, so those are the only ways to figure that out. We don't have that info here, unless one of us goes to that school.
