Why are you asking? Is it because you need material for your essay?

Here's a hint. A message board isn't really a good resource.

well i want opinions from others who are in sororities or why you choose it. i think message board is great because i can get opinions from all different types of people. i can't go into a sorority house and ask them. im researching also, but this is a side note.

Please take some time to just read through the threads here. The search function here isn't the greatest, but it still works.

I'd also exercise discretion (do you know what that means?), especially now that we know what school you attend, your username, and what sorority you're interested in.

Check out this thread:
http://greekchat.com/gcforums/showthread.php?t=100085

Also, I'm not sure if you REALLY understand the way recruitment works. It's a mutual selection process, meaning that while you are looking for a sorority, the sororities are also looking to choose members during the process.

So while you may like XYZ (or whatever other sororities you may be posting about here), they have to CHOOSE to extend you a bid. You can like whomever all you want, but if they choose not to invite you back, you aren't going to get a bid to join them.

I would check out this thread which will tell you alot about how the recruitment process works. It is defintely not "choosing a sorority" by any means and it will help you to better understand that.

Also, I'm going to suggest that you refrain from posting all over GC which sorority you want to join, especially since you have posted your school around here as well.

If you're going to be rushing at either of those schools, it would suck pretty bad if a sorority member from your school were to see your posts and think "what a creepy girl posting about how _________ is the best sorority" and decide to cut you. I'm not trying to be mean, but girls have had their recruitment experience totally ruined by things they've posted on this site and not using any discretion.

When I decided which sorority to join I looked at their national platforms for the most part. I did that to determine which sorority's agenda was the closest to what I believe in.

On a side note, you do need to be a bit more discreet. Things can get a bit rough for you if you're not. :) I don't know about other sororities, but my sorority, in particular my chapter, kept watch on these kinds of forums.

Good luck!

Just fyi.... NPC rush is MUCH different than rush for NPHC groups. Much.

NPC recruitment is based off of mutual selection, whereas you are expected to do such research and show dedication to your chosen group with NPHC.

(That's why it's always advised to keep an open mind during NPC formal recruitment.)

Thanks for the info. :)

But what's weird is I checked the sorority list at Illinois State online and AEPhi isn't even there.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cause any trouble. No I don't go to that school. I was just wondering about AEPhi. My excuse will be lame anyway. If someone could just delete these threads... that would be great. Thanks and sorry again...
