Have you exhibited your Patriotism

more this past week than you ever have before? Have you found yourself saying "God Bless America" more than you have previously? Have you sang the "Battle Hymn nof the Republic" more? Have you actually started saying the "Pledge of Alligance"?

Have you changed your stance regarding this country in light of the recent developments which have threatened "democracy"? Or do you still have the same attitude about the good ole US of A?

Have you purchased a flag? Do you have the red, white, and blue ribbons on your car?

Tell us about it?

I grew up in a home where expressing your patriotism was a great thing. My father retired from the army before I was born, and my brother served in the air force for a short time. We always displayed our flags at our house on holidays - Fourth of July, Memorial Day, Veterans Day, etc. Before this tragedy occured, I purchased some "American" themed items for my own home to decorate with on the holidays. So, yes, my flag is displayed!:D

On Friday and Saturday I wore red, white, and blue! I also have a ribbon that I will some how coordinate with the outfits for this week.

We have a flag on our mailbox.

I will say that I kinda marvel at the sight of the flag, now. Doesn't our flag have a name? Like Old Glory or Stars and Stripes Forever or something?

I've never been much of a proud American, and this doesn't change it too much, but only a little. I stopped saying the pledge of allegiance years ago, it's loaded. Maybe after this, the words will have true meaning.

I do love how our country is so united now. I hope it stays this way after things die down, for lack of a better word. And that might be years. I'm trying to keep things in perspective, so that I don't lose my grip on reality. I understand that everyone wants to look undivided and all, united we stand and all. But I just can't help to think that when this is all over with, WE will still be in the same situations WE were in before. WE will still be racially profiled, WE will still be underpaid, WE will still be underrepresented in the workplace, etc. So as much as I'd like to embrace my patriotism, it's hard for me to do so.

This was a great tragedy, but our country has a lot of blood on it. A LOT. This was bound to happen. I was very affected by this, and cried for about 3 days. I didn't lose anyone in the tragedy, and I don't really know anyone who did. But I was just very saddened by it all.

One nation, under God.... I hope people REALLY believe that. There is no statute of limitations on murder. And we as a country have murdered many. This could be God's wrath for all the bad that the US has done. We never really know, but I'll tell you what, it definitely makes you think.

All in all, this is my home, and while I have a lot of conflicting views within myself, it's still my home, and I love it. God Bless America, in more ways than one.

Ribbons and Pennies for America

Unfortunately, I can't say that I've exhibited any extra patriotism, but it's in my heart. ;) I wanted to share that my children's school made tiny red, white, and blue ribbons for them to wear, and they are collecting "Pennies for America" to help children feel that they are contributing.
