need advise on a point system
The chapter that I advise is looking to implement a point system for attendance at mandatory events and paying dues in a timely manner. You need to accumulate a certain amount of points to be eligible to go to socials. Does anyone have any advice on how to implement this system and (possibly) a sample of point values?

I remember that this thread had some examples of point systems in it (I think I posted my collegiate chapter's point structure as well):

I would NOT advise using points in a "you must obtain however many to be allowed to go to socials" way. (I assume we're talking about weekly mixers) The reason is because if people don't get the allotted amount for that week, you can end up with poor attendance at the mixer. The fraternity doesn't understand why so many sisters are absent and thinks you're blowing them off, and you very quickly get a bad rep on campus for being snobbish. Mixers are fun, but they are also part of your PR and maintaining a good campus image.
I would recommend having to have x number of points to go to the semiformal/formal, or the person attaining the highest number of points gets free or reduced dues. |
My own advice:
Your consequence for not making point has to be something that is relevant to the chapter. For example, saying "if you don't make points, you lose social privileges" means NOTHING if your chapter isn't big on socials anyway. In my chapter, Big Sis/Little Sis was a huge deal, so one of our consequences for failing to make points (for I think 2 months in a row) was the inability to take a Little Sis. |
We used a point system on a fine basis. Things were worth varying points depending on how important of an event it is. Example. Chapter is 3pts and initiation is 10. Each point is worth $10. Fines were assessed at the end of the semester, and if you had more X dollars in fines, you lost socials for the next semester + had to pay the fines. There would be opportunities during the semester to earn bonus points, and you could be excused from events without penalty depending on the circumstance. One point about this though since it involves fines, a list of fineable events should be given out at the beginning. If something needs to be added during the semester, it needs to be announced enough ahead of time so people can prepare. You do not want it to get to the point where events are announced at chapter on wed and they are on Thursday. This worked pretty well, because girls just couldn't miss everything and get daddy to take care of it. The other key to this system is a strong disciplinary system that will stand behind the system.

I am also interested in implementing the points system into my chapter. I have seen several examples but does anyone have like an Excel electronic version they could send me to look over? I need a template!
Thanks. |
