Bid Day- Colony Style

Hey guys,

So I made it through the colony recruitment over the past few weeks and it's FINALLY BID DAY! I'm so nervous. At the last party when they showed us a sisterhood slideshow, all of the girls at my table started to cry. The whole process was so beautiful, and I've never felt more at home with a group of people. We had SO many awesome girls come out for recruitment, and I know that whoever they choose, it's going to be an incredibly strong colony. I just hope that I'm among those that are chosen!

Wish me luck, bids go out at 12:00 noon! I'll be sure to post either way.

Thanks for all of the awesome support through this entire process!!!

It was a pleasure meeting you this week. Unfortunately due to a large turnout, we are unable to extend you a bid at this time. We hope your interest continues and you will pursue recruitment with us at a later date.

While I understand that groups don't want to burn bridges with any PNMs, it is unnecessary to make PNMs think they will have a chance "at a later date" or that they were not extended a bid "due to large turnout". A simple "Thank you for your interest, it was great meeting you, we decided not to extend you a bid" would suffice. Not rude, no false hope.

Of course, the people making the decisions for membership selection in the future WILL be the current new colony members so who they decide to take during the next recruitment period may actually be vastly different than what a bunch of alumnae may choose.

Sorry to here you weren't offered a bid. Colony recruitment is different. What they look for is different. Who chooses members is different than with straightforward recruitment.

I'm sorry to hear that you weren't extended a bid.

My best advice would be to get involved on campus and enjoy college (whether you choose to pursue Greek Life further or not).

Best of luck to you.
