What was your most memorable Holloween costume?

o.k. greekchatters. It's 10/01/08 and it's Holloween time. For those of you who went out "Trick or Treating" as a child, what was your most memorable costume? Did you wear the same costume every year, or did you go as someone different each year?

I wore a different costume each year. Sometimes my mom made them and sometimes we bought them.

The most memorable is when I went as Rainbow Bright. My mother made it and the costume was hot and scratcy to my skin. I hated that thing and she made me wear it.

A friend and I (in college) decided to go as "Jem and the Holograms." There were four of us supposed to be doing it... but two backed out at the last minute. We had another friend with us, who was dressed as a pimp. So everyone thought we were hos, so we ran with it. It was actually hysterically funny. We went out trick or treating for Habitat for Humanity, asking for change (and candy.)

As a kid I'd go nuts on Halloween. Actually I still do. Hubby, the dog, and I are dressing up as pirates this year. I may have to post pictures if the costumes turn out as cute as I think they will. We have great plans to try to scare the crap out of the kids in our neighborhood. :D

I was Tinker Bell. I wore a different costume sometimes, but I liked being Tinker Bell the most.:p

My mom (bless her heart :D) was not creative at all,. My costumes weren't imaginitive at all until I could design them and execute the design myself.

candy bar: I replicated a candy bar wrapper to adult-sized dimensions. I think I must have used stapled paper bags as this was in my pre-license days and there weren't any fabric stores nearby. In any case, it was an accurate blowup despite the lack of computers in that era.

Since I was creative, at least compared to Mom, I tried to make decent costumes when the kiddos were little.

Christmas Tree: Brown Pants and a tree-shaped felt tunic decorated with lightweight trims. I did not wire the tunic but it must be possible as I have seen lighted sweatshirts

Sandwich: 1" white foam for the bread. Paint the edges brown. Pink and yellow felt for ham and cheese. Cut the ham felt into a circular piece. Cut holes in the yellow felt for swiss cheese. Red poster board cut in a circle for a tomato. Green crepe/tissue paper for the lettuce.

Refrigerator and Dice: Both moving box recyclers..
Cut armholes first.

For dice, check a real one to make sure the dot placement is correct

For refrigerator, I cut the armholes on the sides and then cut the front panel from the top and one side so it could swing open. From another section of cardboard, I made a false back and shelves. I soaked off labels from whatever jars I had and also traced the shapes of the containers in the cardboard fridge. I also glued empty clean actual cardboard and plastic (glass was too heavy) containers in the shelves.

t these are 2 of my best

My costumes were pretty boring as a kid. I believe I was a bunny rabbit two years in a row - complete with pink feety pajamas and a pin on tail. As an adult, I can have more fun! We recently started going out as a group for Halloween - both to house parties and bars/clubs. In 2006, four girlfriends and I were an 80s rock band - big crimped hair, fishnets, leg warmers and mini-skirts. Last year we were Pirate wenches - weapons and all. This year - I'm on the hunt for a Ninja outfit!

My most memoriable costume was the year that my dad made me a costume that was a carton of 1/2 and 1/2 ... I wore it to school .. but had to sit in the chairs the the back of the room 'cause I couldn't fit into the seat fixed to the desk *lol* ..

for my son I got into making his costumes .. I made Zoro, two different dinosaurs, a power ranger (!), and abombible snow man -- that one was a mistake for Arizona .. it was warm that Holloween and he roasted...

When I was little I had this pink sparkly dress that was used for several Halloweens as different things (princess, Miss America, etc). One year I dressed up in a suit and went as an IRS auditor, complete with briefcase to hold candy. My favorite was probably when I went as the night sky. I wore all black, my outfit had tons of gold cardboard stars all over it, and had this gold, glitter halo-thing around my face.

As an adult, my favorite costume was when I went as a wild night in bed (it was a college party, of course). I don't know what I'm going to do for this year.

I had an awesome tooth fair costume in 1st grade. My wand with a tooth on it was the best. I was also a troll a few years later (I think it's more of a Norwegian thing) and that was awesome! Burlap sack, "dirty" face, crimpy hair. Yeah, I was damn cute.

No idea what to be this year! I think I'm going to San Luis Obispo so I should find a freaking costume!

As a kid - the butterfly costume my mom handmade. I had these giant gorgeous wings that I adored!

As an adult - a couple years ago 7 of us (1 guy, 6 girls) dressed up as Robert Palmer and video girls. It was hilarious since it was for an office contest, and we won first place out of I think at least 50 entrants.

This year I am going as an intern from Seattle Grace Hospital. :) Not sure which one, though. Lol.

Last year I was Raggedy Ann
(I'm a teacher and we dressed up for the day at school)

And one of my most memorable from when I was a kid was when I was a butterfly. My mom cut out and decorated cardboard wings for my sister and me. Another time, I was lame and just wore my basketball uniform (5th grade); I was a witch once; and once I wore my dad's sailor suit from when he was in the navy. I don't remember many others.

The year we were all ghosts.

Polyester, floral ghosts. Thanks Mom! (It was the 70's, and she was just tired!)

I remember during the Tylenol scare my freshman year, someone in my dorm went as a bottle of Tylenol.
