True Blood on HBO
Anyone watching? I watched the first episode. Some of it seemed overacted to me, but I'll watch again.
Thoughts? |
It was pretty interesting as I had never heard of the book series. I thought that Tara was hysterical. I went to the HBO site and followed the links mentioned in the recaps. The American Vampire League and The Fellowship of the Sun seemed like any special interest group web site but the FOTS' site was more "intense." I also like the web site for the True Blood beverage. The commercial struck me as funny.

I watched it. Maybe I'm a prude, but the sex kinda made me uncomfortable... but I guess I should expect that from an HBO show. I was interested enough to plan to watch it again, and so was my roommate. It's an interesting storyline- something a little out of the norm. I watch a lot of the "girly" shows (Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, etc) but I'm not into shows like CSI, Bones, and House, so it's nice to have something different to watch.
|
A lot of us watched it after Entourage...I liked it even though parts of it seemed unintentionally hilarious. I'll have to give it a few more episodes before I decide if I'll watch it consistently or not. I tend to LOVE everything that HBO touches but the verdict is still out on this show.
|
I am intrigued by it but the scenes of Sookie drinking the blood last night made me cringe
|
I'm still in, my husband is out. He just can't handle it. He says it's too slow.
|
DH and I are LOVING this show! We saw the first episode as a rerun the other night and we are hooked! I love Lafayette, the cook. He is HILARIOUS! I have to temper this by saying that I am a HUGE vampire nerd LOL! I was addicted to Anne Rice in HS and I was known to play some vampire role playing games (The Masquerade) And no, I dont think Im a vampire and Im not a total freak LOL.................I was just a geeky drama nerd back in the day. I know why DH is still into it, and I will quote him directly............."Oh my God! When did Anna Pauqin get HOT?" LOL
|
I just caught a couple episodes by chance today and I like it. I don't know if I can watch it regularly, but I may...
|
I really like the show, I'm just a bit behind episode wise. I LOVED the line from Sookies boss (can't think of his name for the life of me) when he said that the town needed "blade or buffy". I was like "hell yeah, call in the slayer". I thought it was a nice little "tribute" to blade, which was a pretty successful movie and Buffy, which has a cult-like following (even to this day and the show has been off the air for 5 years now (I think, I'm still in denail about that, even though I own all 7 seasons)).
Plus, I'm always one of those people who likes the "odd couple" pairings, and I think Sookie and whatever his name is vampire man are cute. LOL. I'm a dork. |

This show is like part Buffy, part Twilight with a whole new set of rules added. |

I was thinking Sam can't be the dog, because he's been with the dog before. I was thinking he was maybe a werewolf/shapeshifter?

My favorite character by far is Lafayette. |

I'm catching up on this show through On Demand. I'm watching episode 7 now. I also thought Sam was the dog because he made a comment about something he shouldn't have known unless he heard Sookie and Bill talking once. Fangtasia was a bit much to take. I'm definitely uncomfortable with parts of this show but fascinated with other parts at the same time.

Ah ha! I was right! Shapeshifter...who took the form of the dog. So I was right and wrong. :) |

Hmmmm........so who do y'all think was in the picture sent over from the other town's police dept? It looked to me like it was Rene (Arlene, the redhead's fiance) It would make sense to me that Rene is the killer because when Jason was talking about Amy and her V habit, the only 2 people around were Drew and Rene, and that photo looked an AWFUL lot like him. And I really hope things between Sookie and Bill dont sour too much. I love them together. More than I like Sookie and Sam.
PS: did anyone notice the actor playing Eddie, the vampire Jason and Amy kidnapped. Its the same guy from Office Space and Dodgeball. The first episode we saw him, my DH kept saying, "I will put strychnine in the guacamole" and "I believe you have my stapler" LOL! |
I thought it was Rene.
|
yea i think it's Rene...something struck me as odd about him when Jason mentioned that his girl was doing V. it seemed like he got really tensed up or something...man i cant wait for tonight's episode!!!!
|
I adore this show. I got very hooked on the Sookie Stackhouse books an I'm interested in seeing how the shows plays out on the books.
|
So it WAS Rene! What a FREAK! Oh my gosh. Too bad we'll have to wait now for more episodes. I think this was the finale. I LOVE how Sam came to the rescue and bit him as the dog. And Sookie with the shovel...........WHAT A BADASS!!!!!!!!!! LOL! I really thought that Bill was going to die. I am SO happy he survived and they are back together, even though it appears he had to kill Lafayette to live. Oh well............... And now Bill's "child" is with him. I can see it causing REALLY big problems with him and Sookie, and I have a feeling that Jason will be coming after him too, now. Poor dumb impressionable Jason...................

Summer 2009 they said.
|
*Bump* Season 2 started tonight. Did anybody else catch it??
|
Tonight was my first time watching, but now I can feel the obsession starting. In fact, I'm planning on registering for Netflix tomorrow so that I can rent the season 1 DVDs. :)
|
Umm...the ending with sookie and bill.
Hot. oh hotness. |
I have On Demand with my digital cable and we saw this recap by the creator that was a nice refresher and also funny.
The commentary in our viewing group brings a lot of talk about the dynamic with Vampires and the conservative Christian group, in juxtaposition to equality and gay rights and the way some Christian groups have acted (especially Prop 8). we said that last season too but certain things in the episode tonight made it a discussion topic again. |
This show cracks me up to no end.
I am still trying to figure out what the hell Maryann is. Jessica the teenage vampire is a riot. |
There is a campy/cheesy quality to it that makes me sometimes think "Why am I watching this?" but then, the storyline is compelling at the same time.
When Sookie was listening to MaryAnn, that was a different language she was thinking in, right? Then Sookie asks her where she's from because she doesn't recognize her accent. I don't like MaryAnn at all. I hope Tara gets out from under her. |

Just watched the second episode! I couldn't think of the word succubus while I was watching it, so thank you VandalSquirrel! :) I just kept thinking she must be some type of evil matchmaker/Aphrodite-esque character.
Can't wait to see what happens to Jessica's family and Lafayette! |
i've just started watching season 1. this girl Tara has a weird accent.
|
Oh wow, last night's episode was great! I have a sneaking suspicion that its Mary Ann that was the "creature" that attacked Sookie. And some ancient demon type thing would play right into that whole "Head of a bull" thing. Wasnt that the Minotaur in ancient legend? And I remember her talking to Tara and the other guy (cant remember his name) about that painting and she was talking about the greek gods/goddesses. Whatever she is, I am quite sure its no good! And I am SO glad that Sookie was able to get Lafayette out of there, although who knows what is going to happen to him now! I really like Jessica the vampire.......I think Bill is WAY too hard on her.
|
I thought the creature that attacked Sookie was MaryAnn also. I was also really glad Sookie got Lafayette out of there. I think Jason is coming to his senses? I hope, anyway. I think Bill is hard on Jessica because of his own guilt for having made her in the first place.
I haven't decided yet whether I think Jessica purposely manipulated Sookie so that she could attack her father or whether it was an impulse once there. Did she intend to just look at the house? Or did she plan all along to interact with them? The other thing that bothers me about that whole thing is that we know how the media park themselves at someone's house with a missing kid like that. Why wasn't the place teeming with reporters who would have seen her go to the house? Oh well. Since it's a story about vampires, shape shifters, psychic phenomena, etc, I guess that little piece of unreality is acceptable. |
I don't think Jason is coming to his senses.
I do think he's going to end up doing the minister's wife. |

I am still  that "Light of Day" sounds so much like "Latter Day" and the adult camp (Light of Day Institute) reminds me of the movie Jesus Camp. The LDS center on campus is referred to as the Institute, so it is getting harder for me to believe there aren't some intentional connections. They even created a website for the fictional church http://www.fellowshipofthesun.org/ On their news page of that spoof site there is even a video on "A New Storm Gathering" the Prop 8 related stuff can't get any more obvious. I <3 Lafayette |
I'm liking Eric more and more, esp. with the new haircut. I also loved the line from last weeks episode, "Is there blood in my hair?" That was funny.
And Hoyt (is that his name?) going for Jessica? Shocking, yet cool. I hope they don't kill him off. |

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I LOVE the Light of Day website LOLOLOLOLOLOL! I was suspecting all along that he had something to do with the disappearance of Godric, the vamp that Sookie and Bill are looking for in TX. Jason is going to get himself killed I think, cause just as I suspected, they ARE behind it. And I really freakin want to know JUST what Mary Ann is! Im starting to like Eric more and more too. This season is awesome. I think its even better than last season. |
