Desperate Housewives: Season 5

The premiere is Sept. 28, 08. Here are some spoilers!!:D

Episode 5-1 "You're Gonna Love Tomorrow" September 28
Written by Marc Cherry; directed by Larry Shaw

As revealed in the 4th season finale, next season picks up five years after the events of last season. Expect some flashbacks to show us how the women's lives changed.
Bree's a guest on a Fairview cooking show. She introduces her staff, which includes Katherine. After Katherine informs the host, Keith Kavendish (Hank Stratton) that she's never known a better cook than Bree, Katherine purposely pretends to have injured her hand so Bree's forced to finish preparing a difficult French dessert on camera. Disaster ensues. Also, Bree clashes with a photographer.
Gabrielle's daughter Juanita (who's 4 and a half) unsuccessfully tries to wear a dress that's too small for her. She's in denial about her daughter's weight issues. Gabrielle overhears two mothers blaming her for Juanita's weight; she confronts the women over what they say, but she's also questioning her own abilities as a mom.
Thanks to teenage Porter and Preston (now played by Charles and Max Carver), the Scavo's restaurant is turned into an illegal casino for their teen friends. When Lynette learns about this, she grounds the boys, who want their punishment postponed til after Homecoming.
Susan and Mike are divorced, but he's not out of her life altogether, thanks to the existence of their son, M.J., who's played by Mason Gale Cotton. We'll learn why they got a divorce. Susan's new man Jackson (Gale Harold) has a scene where he's not wearing all of his clothes. Susan's closed off to love and doesn't want to be in a relationship. When Susan and Jackson first met, she initially wasn't into him; he was just the guy she'd hired to paint her house. Susan's first scene of the season after the teaser was based on something Teri Hatcher suggested. Susan tries to hide her relationship with Jackson.
An accidental death plays a role in the season premiere.

Dave, a newly married man (played by new series regular Neal McDonough) wants to get a house for Edie, his wife. Specifically, he wants to get her old house on Wisteria Lane. Dave tells the elderly man living there that he's going to buy him out his lease -- right now! He's not going to take no for an answer, and he's going to count to five to give the man a chance to agree. Dave happens to be a motivational speaker so expect him to be quite effective with his tactics.
Dave takes a call from Dr. Heller (Stephen Spinella) who reminds him he's supposed to check in once a week. He tells his doctor he's living close to Boston. The doctor tells another doctor he's worried about Dave, who once had an intense fixation on one person. He has revenge on his mind but who is the object of his obsession?
Kathryn Joosten appears as Mrs. McCluskey; Tuc Watkins and Kevin Rahm return as Bob and Lee. Former series regular Joy Lauren (Danielle) makes a guest appearance.

Episode 5-2 "We're So Happy You're So Happy" October 5

Bree's scheduled to do a radio interview about her book, Mrs. Van De Kamp's Old Fashioned Cooking. When the interviewer says something about Mr. Van De Kamp, Bree mentions he's dead, and goes along with the interviewer who suggests the book is her tribute to her dead husband.
Carlos is working as a masseur at his house. Gabrielle isn't happy about that; she wants him to work out of the country club, and reveals she just spent the last of the drug money they took from Ellie. Gabrielle speaks with a socialite at the country club who misses having Gaby around. Gabrielle claims her kids have taken up her time; the socialite is happy to have her back on the scene.
Susan confronts Mike at a bar. She's looking for Jackson (Gale Harold). Mike claims he's unaware of Jackson's whereabouts but Susan doesn't believe him.
Episode 5-3 October 12
Welcome back Danielle! She returns to Fairview with a Jewish husband and her son . . . Benjamin! Danielle worries that Bree is going to take him back, and she's not fooled by her mother's smile. Later, while at the park with Benjamin, Bree shows him a picture of a young Danielle eating a hot dog. She tells Benjamin that easting hot dogs makes little boys grow up big and strong. She gives him a hot dog but makes him promise not to tell his mother.
Gabrielle and Carlos consider selling their Aston Martin to a young, rich Middle Eastern couple. Gabrielle has a problem with how low Carlos is willing to price the car.
Episode 5-4
Someone attends an ornate luncheon; who's the guest of honor?
Someone visits the Fairview Library.

Mike and Susan attend Parents Night at MJ's school. MJ drew a picture of Susan and Jackson, and he informs his teacher that Jackson sometimes sleeps over.
Juanita sees Carlos and Gabrielle having sex, and they're forced to explain to their daughter what's going on. But when Juanita tells one of her friends at a play date, her friend's mom isn't happy about this. Carlos and Gabrielle sit down with the parents and talk things over. All is well til Carlos accidentally reveals to Juanita's friend the truth about Santa Claus.
Tom has formed a rock band with other middle aged men. He and a bandmate have a third guy audition to join the band. The band included Tom on bass; Dave as the drummer, Orson on the keyboard, and Mike singing and playing guitar.
Episode 5-5
Before Susan can sign her divorce papers, she wants to talk to Mike in private.
Lynette rushes to the hospital where she learns Tom received a massive electric shock at his restaurant. His heart stopped but was revived;will there be tissue damage?
After a party, Mrs. McCluskey is wheeled into an ambulance. She tells an EMT that Dave was responsible for what happened, as he knows she knows he's up to no good. The EMT thinks she's delirious.
Episode 5-6
While he's giving an elderly woman a massage, Carlos accidentally gives her an orgasm. He confides in another masseur about what he's done. The tip he receives proves the woman liked what Carlos provided! The woman wants Carlos to come to Europe to be her personal masseur for two months, and Gabrielle agrees, til she learns from the masseur Carlos confided in about Carlos giving the woman an orgasm. She needs to track Carlos down, only he's at the woman's house. Gabrielle creeps around the woman's mansion when she's caught by the new landscape architect. He believes she's the housekeeper and she lets him go on believing this.
Susan and Jackson broke up; she wanted a casual relationship while he wanted to discuss their future. Two days later she confronts the naked woman she finds in his apartment. Susan learns Jackson doesn't usually talk about having a future with the women he sees because he doesn't date -- or at least he didn't til he met Susan, who he's admitted to loving. Jackson finds the two women together.
Bree meets Orson's college roommate. She's catering an event for his parents' anniversary, but she has plans to act as a matchmaker for him and Katherine too.
One of the Scavo twins has been grounded. His friend calls, wanting to get him out to enjoy two kegs. The twin tells his friend he has bars on the window and a lock on the door, but that's not about to stop him.

Episode 5-13 (Episode 100)
Reaching episode 100 is considered a big deal. Based on past schedules it would seem likely that this would air in January, but with February sweeps being pushed into March this year, it's difficult to predict a winter scheduling pattern this time.
Rumors
Mike and Susan split because he accidentally killed someone.

Other spoilers
As Marc Cherry's been saying since October of 2004, he plans on ending the show with season 7. After that, he hopes to follow up with a spin-off entitled Vicious Cheerleaders. (Please, make that happen!! I've been itching for more on the show since he first mentioned it 3 years ago.)

Benzgirl 09-10-2008 06:18 PM

Gotta love the Scavo twins!

CrimsonTide4 09-10-2008 08:03 PM

Wow! That's a lot to look forward to for just one season.

Benzgirl 09-27-2008 01:40 PM

Premier is tomorrow!

ΑΓΔSquirrel10 09-28-2008 09:01 PM

Premiere is on NOW!!!!!

AGDee 09-28-2008 09:02 PM

Just came here to bump, but my sister beat me to it

IlovemyAKA 09-28-2008 09:14 PM

That's A LOT of good stuff before the first commercial break! :D

adpiucf 09-28-2008 10:03 PM

Edie's new husband freaks me out. I'm already hooked on this season!

Benzgirl 09-28-2008 10:06 PM

Hmmm...I thought Danielle, in the flashback, said Bree lost Orson. There he was.
Edie's hubby is like last year's Katherine.
I'm confused about the Mike/Susan thing.

IlovemyAKA 09-28-2008 10:14 PM

This is what I got: We were led to assume Mike died. In actuality, the lady & her little girl died. Susan harassed Mike about it. The nagging eventually drove him off.

AGDee 09-28-2008 10:15 PM

When Danielle had come back to get the baby, Orson was in jail for hitting Mike with the car.

It appears that Susan, once again, sabotaged her own happiness with survivor guilt after that accident, thereby destroying her relationship with Mike.

That's right! Thanks for jogging my memory.

HBADPi 09-29-2008 12:44 PM

The Danielle thing kinda threw me off because the baby looked at most 2-3 yrs old and she was 18 and going off to college last season yet somehow she was married to a lawyer in that time frame??? Seems a bit young to be getting married and especially to a lawyer...

Remember.....This is Danielle were talking about....the one that has the baby because she was sleeping with her high school teacher....

What confused me was if Mike isn't dead....I would assume they are divorced so what is the big deal with the new boy toy?

The new season takes place 5 years later.. I don't remember if they mentioned at what age Danielle was when she came back for the baby, but let's say it was 2-3 years later, that would have put her at 20-21 yrs old, and 23 at the 5 year mark which isn't completely unreasonable. I know plenty of people who got married in their very early 20's.

It's possible she was seeking some legal advice and married the guy ?

She was sleeping with her high school teacher, but the father of the baby was Edie's nephew

HBADPi 10-01-2008 01:37 PM

I wasnt saying that it was odd that she got married in her early 20s, just odd that she got married in her early 20s to someone who had to clearly be at least 5 or so years older than her in order to be a full fledged lawyer. But then again she did go for the older guys so I forgot about that...

Benzgirl 10-06-2008 12:19 PM

Mrs. McCluskey is the only person onto Edie's hubby. I wonder why Katherine was barely on last night?

VAgirl18 10-06-2008 02:08 PM

Is it just me or was there a scene repeat this episode that was shown in the premiere? I could have sworn I remembered Bree coming over to tell Gaby that she was uninvited to that party....

Benzgirl 10-06-2008 02:12 PM

I think the scene was on the previews for the following week.

texas*princess 10-12-2008 10:03 PM

ugh! I don't like Edie's husband!!!

[Marc] Cherry has tapped Lily Tomlin for the recurring role of Mrs. McCluskey's sister for Housewives' new season.

Tom is Lynette's husband, not Edie's.

texas*princess 10-26-2008 09:51 PM

It makes me so sad that Edie's husband is making Mrs. McClusky look crazy :(

nittanyalum 10-26-2008 09:53 PM

Yeah, do we know why he's doing that? I don't know if I missed something, or if we're building up to something.

ETA: I hate, hate, HATE Susan's boyfriend's hair

IlovemyAKA 10-26-2008 10:01 PM

Edie's husband is an ass.

Yeah I think it's supposed to be building up to something... at the end it said he was going to go after the man who ruined his life but he had to do it carefully or something to that regard. idk what Mrs. McClusky has to do with that??

Benzgirl 10-27-2008 08:50 AM

Who could be the "man that ruined my life"?

a. Carlos
b. Tom
c. Jackson
d. Mike
e. Orson
f. The Scavo Twins
g. One of the Gay Couple (Bob and Lee)
h. Andrew

I think it is Mike since Dave was targeting him for the "band" and trying to manipulate Lynette.

Benzgirl 10-27-2008 08:59 AM

New Spoilers. I didn't realize Season 5 will have 24 episodes. We may need to wait awhile before we realize who Dave is out to get.

Episode 5-6 "There's Always a Woman" November 2

Virginia Hildebrand wants Carlos to come to Europe to be her personal masseur for two months, and Gabrielle agrees, til she learns from the masseur Carlos confided in about Carlos giving the woman an orgasm.
Days after the end of her relationship with Jackson (Gale Harold), Susan confronts the naked woman she finds in his apartment. Jackson finds the two women together.

Lynette suspects Tom is cheating on her. Gail O'Grady appears as Anne Schilling, a real estate agent who may have her eye on one of the Scavos. We'll also meet Anne's son Kirby.
Lily Tomlin appears as Roberta, Mrs. McCluskey's sister, who helps her dig up dirt on Dave.
Episode 5-7 "What More Do I Need?" November 9
Written by Matt Berry; directed by Larry Shaw
Gabrielle enjoys a margarita at Virginia Hildebrand's pool. What ulterior motives does Virginia Hildebrand (Frances Conroy) have? Gabrielle wants to find out.
Bree has a moment of weakness that could embarrass her. Bree fires a teenage boy who stole money from her. He admits he spent the money on pot; Bree gives him two days to return the money. Later, the teen wants to get the money from Andrew in exchange for giving Andrew a tape that could be bad for Bree.
Katherine's having an affair with Mike! Also,Susan learns of Jackson's true passion.

At a PTA meeting at Lynette's school, Anne Schilling (Gail O'Grady), who's in charge of getting chaperones for a dance asks for volunteers. Lynette's not happy with Anne, as she and Tom have learned about Anne's affair with Porter. Lynette confronts her nemesis in a bathroom.
Roberta (Lily Tomlin) learns something disturbing about Dave. Dr. Heller (Stephen Spinella), Dave's doctor who we met in the premiere, makes another appearance.

Episode 5-8 "City on Fire" November 16
Susan likes Lloyd (Steven Weber), Julie's boyfriend, who was her English professor in grad school, despite him being in his 40s. (Also, Julie likes Jackson.) Susan's opinion shifts when she learns Julie's boyfriend's been married 3 times. Susan's surprised to see he has a diamond ring and plans on surprising Julie with a proposal. Susan learns about Mike and Katherine.
Juanita and Celia leave their babysitter to have ice cream with Grandma. But when their babysitter calls Gabrielle, Gaby freaks out because the women they left with wasn't their grandmother, but was Virginia Hildebrand (Frances Conroy), who has a history of violence.
Lynette learns Porter plans to leave Fairview with Anne.
Sandra Birch (Rachael Harris), a reporter, hopes to expose the truth about Bree's imperfections.
Mrs. McCluskey and her sister Roberta (Lily Tomlin) both appear.

There's a big fire at a club where the men's band is playing in a battle of the bands. One of the other bands competing is known as Cold Splash, though they're played by by the real-life members of indie rock band Tokyo Police Club. Most residents of Wisteria Lane will be present. The fire is connected to Dave and the mystery. Stephen Spinella again appears as Dave's doctor, Dr. Heller.
I'm hearing there will be two deaths. Bree, Gabrielle, Susan, and Lynette will survive, of course. Dave's safe due to his role in the mystery. I've also heard that Jackson will survive.
November 23
The American Music Awards preempt the show.

Episode 5-9 "The Road You Didn't Take" November 30
Thanks to an injury caused in the fire, Orson broke his nose. As a result, he's now snoring loudly. (The doctor who he sees may be Andrew's boyfriend.) Bree does a cooking demonstration for children, but since she's using sleeping pills due to Orson's snoring, she acts extremely oddly. Under the influence of the pills, she says more than she should about Danielle and Orson.
A doctor informs Carlos and Gaby that Carlos' sight might be able to be fixed. They're both happy, but Gabrielle's worried about what Carlos will think of her looks. She thinks she has a month to lose the weight, but the doctor informs her the best eye doctor in the state can perform the surgery in a few days. Can Gabrielle get the surgery postponed?
Episode 5-10

A Scavo boy is arrested for arson! Did he set the fire? No, but an unnamed witness says he did. Lynette sells Tom's heirloom baseball to a Japanese businessman to raise bail, but then Lynette needs to get it back before Tom learns what she's done.
Carlos' surgery goes well as he begins to regain his sight.

Mrs. McCluskey and her sister Roberta continue to investigate Dave's past; they've found his doctor, but that may be a bust. Dave calls for a refill on his prescription and mentions his address as being on Wisteria Lane.

Episode 5-13 (Episode 100)
The show will air its 100th episode this season! Yay!
General season 5 spoilers
New cast members and recurring guest stars include Charlie and Max Carver as Porter and Preston Scavo; Joshua Moore as Parker Scavo; Kendall Applegate as Penny Scavo; Mason Gale Cotton as M.J.Delfino; Gale Harold as Jackson; Madison De La Garza as Juanita Solis; Danielle Baltodano as Celia Solis.

Marc Cherry has an idea for a past character who may return this season: it's either Felicia, Zach, Paul, or Betty. (We're crossing our fingers that it's Felicia, 'cause we love her, though we do think she got a great exit.)
Season 5 will have 24 episodes.

I think it is Mike since Dave was targeting him for the "band" and trying to manipulate Lynette.

When I heard that line, my first thought was that Dave is really Paul and he is out to get Mike. He has had plastic surgery so that no one one Wisteria Lane know it is him. He wanted to rent the house for Mike because of "keep your friends close and your enemies closer." Just my opinion...

DaffyKD

Benzgirl 10-27-2008 11:19 AM

I read another spoiler, that said Dave might be out to get Bree. Remember George, the pharmacist that Bree allowed to die? His last name was Williams and so is Dave's. I doubt it has any merit, but it makes you wonder if they were brothers since they were both a little off the rocker.

IlovemyAKA 10-27-2008 11:25 AM

Who is Paul?

Mrs. McClusky was on to him, or at least getting too close to being on to him. He just wanted her out of the way.

Oh, yeah!! I forgot about them. I need to revisit that storyline...unless you have a synopsis :D

Benzgirl 10-27-2008 12:49 PM

Zach showed up two season's ago (remember, he was stalking Gabby?). Maybe they are bringing back Paul in disguise.

Kappamd 10-27-2008 03:35 PM

Boyfriend's theory is that Dave is the husband/father of the wife and child that were killed in the accident that split up Susan and Mike. So I guess that would make Mike the one that he is out to get.

texas*princess 10-27-2008 06:56 PM

OOOOH those are all really good theories.. esp. that last one and the one about the pharmacists (maybe) brother.

You know, at first I was thinking that he was just manipulating Lynette into the guy band thing and Mike to join b/c he was jealous of that guitar player who was really awesome. That whole episode was about jealousy so that would be way too easy. It would make sense that he wasn't just jealous of how good this guy was, but also if he wanted to keep Mike really close.

Hmmmmm

And I totally forgot about that nutty pharmacist. Did Andrew do anything to tear him & Bree apart? All that happened so long ago I can hardly remember. Maybe Orson?

On a completely different topic, I kind of feel like Tom is being really unreasonable. Lynette has dropped everything to do what he wanted to do several times already and for her to do it yet again for a road trip is pretty selfish on his part.

AGDee 10-27-2008 10:38 PM

Tom is behaving like a spoiled adolescent and I'm tired of it. He was completely insensitive when he talked about how he almost died and Lynette reminded him of the cancer she had. He's just a selfish pig.

Not only that but didn't he get all ballistic when Lynette said she wanted to go back and do marketing stuff after she saw the marketing plan Bree's person did for her?

What a nerd.
