Kappa Pledges (Alabama) Killed in Accident

Two Kappa pledges were killed in a car accident yesterday on their way to the beach for Labor Day weekend. Their car flipped over, the girls were airlifted to a Mobile hospital and died after surgery. Please pray for these families, the Kappa pledge class and the entire Kappa Kappa Gamma chapter at Alabama.

Zillini 08-30-2008 10:38 AM

OMG! My thoughts and prayers go out to these girls' families and the Kappas.

Oh how horribly sad for everyone -- the families, sisters, friends, even the school. I will most certainly pray for all of them.

dgdramadawg 08-30-2008 01:33 PM

My sister said that apparently another Kappa pledge got into a fender-bender earlier in the day, so when she got the news she was just sure they got it wrong... until she found out there was a second accident.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of my sister's sisters.

XIgapeach 08-30-2008 01:42 PM

This is just horrible. My mother lives in Mobile and called to tell us about it this morning...can't hardly believe it. Sincerest condolences go out to the families, friends, and the Alabama Kappa sisters and pledges. Such a tragic loss.

Theta2Mom 08-30-2008 01:42 PM

I thought the same thing at first. My daughter and her Theta sis were going to Atlanta yesterday and ended up sitting on the interstate for a few hours. She called me when they got up to the wreck because some Kappas were on the side of the road, along w/some ATOs. Fortunately, no one appeared to be hurt in that wreck. My heart and prayers go out to the families and friends of these girls.

My heart cries out for these young ladies, their parents, and their fellow sisters.

God Bless them!

It breaks all of our hearts. Let's also pray that those family members the authorities are still trying to reach are contacted quickly and with sensitivity. God bless those sweet Bama Kappas and their new pledge class.

AXi1257 08-30-2008 04:19 PM

Such a tragedy. My thought and prayers are with the Kappas and their families.

nittanyalum 08-30-2008 04:31 PM

Cosign all the above, wishing peace and comfort for their parents, families, friends and sisters.

FlaGirl07 08-30-2008 05:09 PM

Was the 22 year old that was killed also a pledge?

peaches321 08-30-2008 05:15 PM

The names have not yet been released, but it is my understanding that they are both pledges.

Bamamom13 08-30-2008 05:24 PM

They are both pledges. They are listed on the Bama website in the Kappa pledge class. The names may not yet have been released to the public, but the text messages went out early this morning to my daughter.

OleMissGlitter 08-30-2008 05:32 PM

That is so sad. A young lady I use to babysit for is a Kappa pledge a Bama. I will be praying for everyone involved in this tragedy.

Many of the Kappas had already arrived in Atlanta for the Bama-Clemson game when they received the news. That is where my Bama Kappa is. It is very touching as a Kappa Momma to see the loving posts that are being left for the girls. I am sure that it will mean the world to all of them that all of you are reaching out to them.

I asked my sister the same question and her comment was that it is possible that the girl may have had identification on her that said she was 22, but she is a freshman and not 22.

BAMA2 08-30-2008 08:21 PM

Both of the girls who were killed in the accident were freshmen Kappa pledges. One was from Alabama, the other from Texas. It is now believed that the driver fell asleep at the wheel causing the car to swerve out of control and flip. The girls in the car behind this car were also Kappa pledges and friends of the girls killed. The out reach on this has been incredible. Thank you.

FlaGirl07 08-30-2008 08:37 PM

Please let me know if there is anything that can be done to help console the parents and sisters.

AGDLynn 08-30-2008 08:47 PM

Oh so sad! I know that the chapter was soo excited to have these wonderful girls in their lives.

I'm watching the Bama game now and sad to think that there was such tragedy on the way.

A new release from a Mobile paper corrects the Texas girl's age. http://blog.al.com/live/2008/08/two_...bama_fres.html
