How in the world did my daughter get cut?!
Q: How in the world did my daughter get cut?!
A: She didn't. She's a ..... .......... .......... .......... .......... ............................... ............................... ............................... THETA! It seems we no sooner got back from moving her in, and we'll be heading back soon for parent weekend. I'm psyched! p.s. Sorry I teased ya. |
Congrats to your daughter and to Kappa Alpha Theta! My cousins were Thetas, and they are amazing women, so your daughter should be very proud to be a part of such a great organization!

LOL
I saw the post title, and thought "Oh, boy...here we go..." Congrats to your daughter!! |
Congratulations!!
Congratulations to you, your daughter and Theta! Sending Kites her way!
:D |
Oh, you tease!
Congratulations to your daughter!
|
Congratulations to your daughter and warm welcomes to her from a fellow sister of KAPPA ALPHA THETA!!! Black and gold pansies to her! What school does she go to? (If you're comfortable answering that is)

Haha what a tease :)
Congratulations to your daughter! Theta has meant the world to me and I hope she, too, has a wonderful experience! |
Congratulations to your daughter and to Kappa Alpha Theta!

welcome, Theta mom!
Welcome to your daughter! Hope it brings her as much joy, challenge, growth, and friendship as it has to me.
BTW, Kappa Dancer, your cousins _are_ Thetas. :-) |
Wow, what a welcome! Thanks. I can't wait to visit during parent weekend. When we dropped her off at school, she was happy and sad at the same time, some trepidation at her new adventure away from home. It's amazing how things can change in just a few days. Now she's deliriously happy mixing with her new friends, great teachers, and loves the campus even more than she thought from previous visits. From the sound of it, she's found some girls in her pledge class that she really feels she can bond with. Also helping her comfort level is a close friend from high school who also pledged Theta. I think they found their home away from home!
I don't mind saying which school she goes to, but don't want to embarrass her. I used to do that in high school, or so she said ;) Thanks for the warm welcome and also for letting me tease all of you just a bit! |

I did get cut yesterday. and I know it sounds like the same thing everyone says, I have a four pt gpa, I was in athletics and performing arts, everyone at rush told me that they cant wait to see me back.I even had girls introducing me to their friends telling them to remember my name...one girls even said i was her crush this week...yet today..cut,cut, cut,cut...I had recs for every house I was cut for and I never mentioned the 5 things not to talk about. I have wanted to be in a sorority since I could say the word.
I actually got excited from hearing the girls singing and cheering...now what? I cant cry anymore, and I cant tell my friends at other schools who are in houses...now I hear the once cut always cut so I do not know if I should rush again. It is easy to be so cheerful once you make it in...but not so easy to feel like a piece of shit for really no reason that any one can tell me.I wish with all my heart that i knew how you feel...just try to walk in my shoes today |

Are there any chapters that YOU cut that are COBing that you would be willing to take a second look at? And mods, can we PLEASE move this into its own thread? |

You can either feel sorry for yourself, or you can pick yourself up, get involved in campus, and see what sorority opportunities there are for you. There is a happy ending, whether it is joining a group or finding other avenues for yourself. Good luck. (and yes, let's move this) |
Is my sixth choice good enough?

You need to check with your panhellenic office and let them know you are interested in informal rush. If you dropped houses because you felt they weren't rushing you "hard enough" it may be that your rush sensor is just off - they may have been laid back, but interested in you. Check with panhellenic, and also let any friends you have in chapters know that you are interested.

Congratulations JrLeaguer. You teased us pretty bad - internet finger waving at you!!!!

As far as your daughter wanting to be a Tri Delt, no one here can tell you what your daughter can do to be a part of their sorority. Honestly though, recruitment is over and they have taken new members already, so her chances of getting a bid from them after they dropped her are typically not good. It's tough but that's how recruitment is. Not everyone will get a bid to the one sorority they want (which is why we tell PNMs to be open-minded). My best advice for you would be to encourage her to ENJOY THE REST OF COLLEGE, get involved in other activities, and have fun, instead of focusing on Greek Life (and Tri Delt). |

Congrats from one Theta Mom and Jr Leaguer to another. Hope she enjoys as much as my daughter. A word for moms of girls who got cut. Everyone wants to go to the Disney princess movies. You might have had your heart being Belle put you could be just as happy as Cindy. Please tell your daughters to have open minds and don't get set on being only one princess. They all have enchanted lives.

Thanks for the great advice
Thank you for the great advice she has already moved on and loving college, she a strong person and she's getting involved in other activities :)quote=KSUViolet06;1711349]First off all, this thread is actually not about girls getting cut (see the first post). The mom who posted this posted it as a joke. Her daughter got a bid to a sorority on her campus. Sorry fo the confusion!

Just to update you...I did affiliate with a COB chapter. ...after I heard what some of the other houses did on Bid night....whoa...I think it should be a requirement that sororities talk about their emphasis on drinking during rush...that way those phonies are outed....seem so sweet singing their songs, but meanwhile are pushers of bid night beer bongs...even to freshmen!!!
|
A piece of advice: just enjoy what you have now, and don't talk crap about other sororities. It comes across as sour grapes.
Congratulations on receiving a bid. |

Of course, this is something that is best expressed to your new sisters in your dining room or something, and not on GC. Want to share what sorority you joined? :) Congrats. |
