WOW!!! Michelle Obama was Extraordinarily Superb & Pretty!!!
The Michelle Obama speech at the DNC on Monday, August 25, 2008 was just WOW!!!
She was beautiful. I love her "refinement ensembled makeover". She showed her what she is all about and I personally think that she put those silly stereotypes to rest about her. And her edges were DONE!!! And so her daughter's hurr was cutely done!!! I loved the video with her mother. And the speech from her brother was special. She made some folks cry... LOL.. |

But seriously..she is awersome. Now I know why in the 60's, women fawned all over Jackie O. This is how I feel about Michelle O. |

She was ok.

I thought she was terrific (and she looked beautiful, indeed)! I actually watched with my family (since it was my sister's birthday and we were all together). So many of her comments hit home with us. I will be very pleased to see her as our First Lady.

SHE WAS FANTASTIC

michelle obama did a great job at what she was 'asked' to do. she looked more like a working mom than a politician's wife. she said the right things and did so flawlessly. i couldn't help but feel like last night went under the category of "trying to hard."
|
I liked Michelle O.'s speech and visual presentation, particularly when the girls came out and Sasha was asking where was her daddy. It was well-imaged and designed to "defang" her, although I have never picked up angry Black woman from her. Not at all.
|
Her speech just didn't WOW me. Didn't move me. Sorry.

Glad I'm not the only one who feels it was just a speech.
On that note: I hated when "Isn't She Lovely" started playing and the kids came out. LOL. Then the "hi daddy" and stuff from the kids just seemed so staged. We get the point, geesh.... "Look how cute the kids are...ohhhhhh...he'll be a persistent President because he jokingly says he kept asking Michelle out eventhough she kept saying 'no'...she changed her mind and that's change we can believe in." |
nods
eventhough there was a bit of a delay, obama's response to me brought the point home that this was just a speech. his youngest daughter was being well, a kid and he seemed to kinda 'brush' her off to focus more on saying what he had to say.

Anyway, I was impressed with her speech. I think that she is a dynamic and eloquent speaker. I heart her! :D |

I liked Michelle's speech. I am glad I saw the video, because now I see she really is a remarkable woman on her own. |

I bet if lil Sasha had said "Daddy, mommy say you betta get to Denver or we going shopping again" dude would not have brushed her off. Nominating conventions are crafted for the broad, unengaged middle. People, who to this point, have not focused on the detail of either campaign. For many it's the first introduction to Obama and his family. For those who are engaged, it probably will appear, at times,.....boring. Personally, I didn't think Michelle's speech was all that either, but it was effective, I think, in debunking the initial image her husband's opponents have tried to create for her. One of my colleagues has worked for years (although not this year) as a lead guy at RNC stage committee (making sure everything/everyone you see at the podium happens as they want it to happen.) Trust me, this is stagecraft writ large for both parties. |

Of course, that is probably why I would not make a good politican. I did not like her dress; I thought it fit funny. My grandmother liked it though. Other than the dress, she was lovely. |
i was chatting with a friend about michelle's speech. i agree with your comments. it was definitely designed to quiet the naysayers and perhaps bring the staunch hillary folks and/or the folks who are considering mccain since hillary didnt get the nom.
on a side note, i love your signature :) Quote:

that is the one thing about politics i dont like. but that is the game that must be played. i liked her dress. she looked more working mom and less stepford wife.
what i didnt like was michael eric dyson commenting on her backside. highly inappropriate and unnecessary. Quote:

Michelle O. will be an icon in the future. Her image, likeness, persona, branding, etc. will be marketed to mass groups the world over. Who does it and how it gets done, who knows? Oprah and Poprah had something to say about... LOL.. ;) |

I too thought her speech was just average.... |

I cried. I thought she was beautiful and eloquent and I was truly moved. I cried every night of the convention though. I guess I found the history of it all moving. I'm very sentimental like that though.
