Rocky Horror Picture Show Remake?!?!
Oh good lord. Please let this never come to fruition.
http://www.nme.com/news/various-artists/38889 "the remake is being co-financed by MTV and Sky Movies" Anyone else think this should never happen? |
NO.
No one could replace Susan Sarandon and Tim Curry anyway. |
I heard they will try to have Marilyn Manson as Dr. Frankenfurter! I could have fainted when hearing that.

Oh yeah. I saw that and nearly choked.
I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Alan Cumming as Frank N Furter, but you just can't replace Tim Curry. My hope is that if they do remake this, they will not try to replicate the old movie. I hope that they put a new spin to it. That way, you can't really compare the two. That's just wishing, though. :( |
I'm not a big fan of re-making movies anyway, and this sure doesn't do anything to change my mind!

A remake has been in talk for years. I don't like that it is suppose to be a TV Movie, but I think that technology and just a modern take on it will be a lot of fun to watch. If Manson does it, it will be much darker and less funny, while Cummings will do the opposite. I think it will obtain its burlesque nature, but might lose some of its campiness for an even darker and twisted version. I am excited to see it.

No! No, no, no, no, NO!
If they do this, I suggest that everyone throws toast at MTV! |

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I think MTV should come up with some original ideas and not clearly scripted "reality" shows like Parental Control and The Hills....DO NOT REMAKE ROCKY HORROR!
|
This is about a million types of wrong. You simply cannot remake Rocky Horror.
Maybe MTV should think about doing something shocking, say, show something like Music Videos and Concerts 24 hours a day? I know, it's daring and new, but it just might work? |
It was bad enough when they did the sequel - "Shock Treatment" which, yes I did see. No no no no - you can only have one first kiss, and the kind of response RHPC got cannot be marketed and manipulated. Boooooo . . .
|
NOO!!!
Please, don't do this, MTV!!!! There are somethings you just don't mess with!! |
Besides, if it takes place in modern day, surely Brad and Janet would have cell phones!
|
ahh, yes, but they'd be out in the woods and without the creepy verizon guy, so no bars lol. This sounds like a truly horrendous idea. Hearing it's coming from MTV though, I'm not surprised. America's Best Dance Crew or whatever was the first time I had watched MTV since somewhere around 1997. But really, all remakes are awful.

sure it is harder to make a remake, but there are some excellent ones out there. I will say that there are some awful ones (Stepford Wives, Psycho, Poseiden Adventure, Alfie)... but really, you never know. |

The original Scarface, Father of the Bride and Ocean's 11 were really successful. The latter two having Elizabeth Taylor and the rat-pack respectively. Those are def. some iconic people, and though the movies were great, they did not transcend to greatness, which helps. Secondly all three movies took a different spin, as most remakes try too. So, it really depends on if its a good script to start with and the change is good. Not necessarily the movie. ALSO, The Departed, The Ring, Three Men and a Baby, True Lies, and Twelve Monkeys were all remakes of foreign films, stories that were rather fresh to the american market. If I chose cinema as opposed to theatre, I think I would of had a good thesis paper here!!! |

I agree, Rocky Horror is a special case. A movie that has a special place in cinema as you will see I had previously said. My point is merely that it is unfair to dismiss a movie because it is a "remake."
