Yea! I'm glad this is coming back. :( @ no Team GC.

adpi*violet 08-04-2008 10:10 PM

Team GC...
Did you guys really apply? How cool would that have been if you had been invited to participate!
Looking forward to a new season.... hopefully without quite so many "Baby" nicknames as in seasons past.

LOL. No, we totally missed registration and next thing we knew there was an article that they were already interviewing finalists in LA! They don't know what they're missing. Or they're just scared. They knew we'd dominate... :p

There's still TAR 15. (14 is already cast.)

And we would so dominate.

Dude - I'd LOVE to see some GCers on there :)

*Keeping fingers crossed for TAR 15 - go Team GC!*

Hey, that could totally work as y'all's schtick! It's better than some of the "connections" that have been on there - "former dating couple" etc.

Go Team GC!!

And I promise we wouldn't call each other "Baby."

(Our spouses might have a problem with it if we did, :D)

I've never referred to a person as "Baby" my entire life.

I do, however, suggest we get our spouses "in" on it and then only refer to each other as "pookie" and "sweetikins" the entire show just to see how much negative press coverage and irate blogging we can generate. It would be like two game shows in one!! :)

Me neither. I've only used the term when singing along with the Beatles or some other 60s/early 70s group.

(Now I have The Carpenters running through my head. My wife loves them.

"Don't you remember you told me you loved me, baby? . . . .")

No, I think I'd be even better to come up with completely made up terms for each other. Think of the buzz then -- "What are they talking about?" "Is this the new slang?" "Those crazy GRSSKS!"

Or you just keep calling me "MC" or "Cat" and I'll call you "NA" or "Nitt." But we'd never explain why. ;)

Brilliant. I'm in. Let's go.

AGDee 09-28-2008 08:46 PM

*bump*

There is a team of Southern Belles and a team of Frat Boys..LOL My son is rooting for the self professed Geeks.

MysticCat 09-29-2008 08:58 AM

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH! !!

Stupid car battery for dying. Stupid AAA for taking 2+ hours to get to me.

I missed the premier. :mad::(

ComradesTrue 09-29-2008 10:22 AM

More evidence that MC and Nittany *must* get on this show... you two are quite entertaining, funny, and not the least bit annoying, which differentiates you from every single team on the show this year.

Despite having 11 teams, there just are not people on there that are likeable or that I want to root for at this point. I had hopes for the couple from New York, as they initially seemed somewhat normal. But even they were annoying by the end of the show.

The geeks are okay, but oh my... they are certainly geeks! Holy Moly!

The beekeepers were sweet at the end, but didn't we all see that elimination coming from the very beginning?

The divorcees seem alright, except that they dress exactly the same, which drives me crazy.

Most annoying of all? The mom/son. I initially thought this would be a sweet and interesting pairing... until we actually met them. He is a dork, and she can't cut the cord. God Bless any woman who wants to marry that guy... as she will be getting a Two-Fer on that matrimony.

The team in camo also needs to go. Very soon. How obnoxious is that girl?? Why do we need to see footage of her doing cheers all the time?

And the thing that drives me the most crazy... every season there is at least one couple who goes on this show to see if there relationship is meant to be. Huh? Really? Sure there are some real life qualities that are important- communication, compromise, etc., but really. Your husband cheats on you and the *only* way to know it will work is to go on a trip around the world? Pul-eeze.

Of course despite all this I will watch every episode and I hope to eventually find a team to cheer for. But here is hoping for Team GC next season and all the "hijinks" that would ensue. Much. Better. Television.

No lie!

Nothing like testing a relationship like lack of sleep, utter exhaustion, and stress beyond all comprehension!!

That NY couple has some SERIOUS issues!! He's like, "I love you, but slow down, you're beating me.", "She isn't supposed to be talking to other people (during the overnight break time), she's supposed to be supporting me", and the creme de la creme, "you are not allowed to talk while climbing." But, she's no prize either - HATING the other twosome because they didn't say Hi. Geez... What age are they? Junior High?

And those Frat Guys are an embarrassment to Fraternity Guys!!! Please keep your shirts on in the future!!

tinydancer 09-29-2008 04:32 PM

"you are not allowed to talk while climbing."

I would have kept right on talking, but I'm contrary.

I gotcher back, pardner! I watched and I'm taking notes on strategies and locations, no worries. I agree with Blondie93, no real "impressive" teams that I can identify yet, we'da cleaned up on this season for sure. (and yeah, yikes at the "Frat Guys" from AZ State!)

Sorry to hear about your car --- 2 hours for AAA? Sounds like someone's not living up to what you pay those membership costs for!

Thanks for the encouragement for our GC team, Blondie, I'm gonna go get back to my lunges and hurdler stretches right now... ;)

DaffyKD 11-10-2008 01:00 AM

I am still watching this although it is nowhere as good as it has been in the past. So glad tonight's team has finally been eliminated. I have wanted them gone since forever!!!

polarpi 11-10-2008 01:39 AM

Agreed - the divorcees drove me nuts.

Now, if only Tina & Ken can be the next to go - I have not liked them since the beginning, and I was not happy that last week was an NEL. :(

Tina & Ken have grown on me. Even Starr and her brother have grown on me. The couple I can't stand now is the brunette and her whiney boyfriend who always has something to criticize his gf about.

I'll take Starr & Nick anyday - I agree about the dating couple (they can be next after Tina & Ken!). Andrew & Dan aren't that interesting, either. This season's looking to be a wash for me for any favorites that I'll be rooting at the end to win.

Me too! They were like the girls in that movie "Mean Girls" always talking mean, non-race related trash about the other teams. UGGH!!

Ditto! That guy is SUCH a whiner!!! I cringe when he speaks so disrespectfully to his partner yet berates her for not kissin his hiney!!

Oh, no question . . . the only team that I would have been even happier to see leave would have been Terrence and Sarah. He is a real piece of work.

The only teams I like at this point are Nick and Starr and Mom (forget her name) and Dallas. I want them in the final three.

Dan and Andrew are okay -- nice enough guys, I guess, but not smart racers. Ken and Tina I like okay sometimes, other times they (mainly she) grates on my nerves.

Yeah, there just haven't been any great teams this go around. Too bad they missed out on nittanyalum and me. :D

I'm still holding out hope for the next casted season! :)

AGDee 11-11-2008 12:19 AM

I like Nick and Starr and Mom and Dallas also. I think it's cute that Starr and Dallas have crushes on each other, but I keep thinking of the Dallas Starrs... I didn't see the end of the show this week (have it on DVR but haven't watched it yet) but the women who don't read the clues carefully make me CRAZY!!! Did she even look at the envelopes before she ripped them down???

MysticCat 11-17-2008 01:04 PM

Well, this being the season of teams who can't/don't read the clues continues.

So glad that Terence and Sarah are gone. They should have left FF spot the moment that they saw that Terence had to eat meat. Even if he could have downed it faster than Starr and Nick, chances are his digestive system would have rebelled, possibly making the next leg of the race even more of a challenge. Had they quickly made the decision not to try, it looked like it would have been Andrew and Dan going home instead. Not that I'm complaining.

(And what was he thinking? If he was going to be willing to eat meat, then that should have been part of his preparation prior to the race. What race hasn't had an eating challange, and the eating challenge often involves meat of some sort. He should have seen it coming and figured out how he would deal with it, and if he was going to deal with it by eating it, then he should have reacquainted his system with meat prior to the race.)

AGDee 11-17-2008 02:35 PM

I'm glad you dragged this up. I wanted to post here this morning but didn't have time to search for the thread :)

I am also glad Terence and Sarah are gone. They were getting on my nerves. I thought the same thing about Terence and the meat. They probably would have made it if they hadn't waited so long to decide they couldn't do the Fast Forward. I don't recall people "competing" to win the Fast Forward in the past.

I don't get why Tina thought they were supposed to return the costume? I was watching desperate housewives with TAR in Picture in Picture so I missed what the frat boys screw up was with the costume, but figured out they had screwed up something. This really does seem to be the season of mis-read clues. I don't get that! One would think they'd learn by now.

But, see? This is, unfortunately, why you and Nittany won't ever get picked for the show... you both are far too smart, levelheaded, rationale, normal, and lacking in emotional baggage. I for one would l-o-v-e to see teams on the show that fit this criteria, but apparantly the produces want a bunch of dim-witted, snobby, whiney, annoying people who can't read or think to prepare for a meat eating challenge.

Sigh. What used to be my absolute favorite show is losing my interest, and fast. I just can not stand the teams this season.

First, they left their shoes at the theatre. This wasn't misreading the clue, but it did hurt them because they had to try to run to the pit stop in boots since they didn't have their shoes.

The main thing was that the clue told them to make their way from the butcher/market to the pit stop on foot. Andrew and Dan took a cab, so they had to go back to the market and the return to the pit stop on foot.

If I saw/remember correctly, Dan and Andrew passed Sarah and Terence at the market when they returned. So, if Terence and Sarah had left the FF as soon as they saw what it was, then there seemed to be a good chance they would have hit the mat before DAndrew.

Have hope, Blondie, have hope. The slew of hapless teams seems to have really hit this season, but who knows what might happen in another season. Maybe even Team GC is possible.

AGDee 11-17-2008 07:06 PM

Ok, I watched the last 20 minutes on the DVR now. I'm all caught up. Thanks for the explanation MC.

Next episode should be a non-elimination, I think. Down to 4 teams and there are always 3 in the final show.

nittanyalum 11-18-2008 01:24 AM

LOL @ Blondie & MC. Still doing my hurdle stretches, MC, and now I realize I need to start an "eat things I don't normally eat" regimen to add to my conditioning so I don't hold us up at a Fast Forward. I'll be ready when we get the call! ;)

And I echo the glee that T & S are gone, they drove me nuts.

MysticCat 11-20-2008 12:45 PM

According to Terence and Sarah's interview at Reality News Online, it took an hour each way to get to and from the Fast Forward. That's two hours, plus however long they stayed at the FF, that they got behind by trying the FF.

Nevertheless, they came in 7 minutes behind DAndrew. Like I said earlier, if they had just walked out as soon as they saw they had to eat meat. (They talked about that, too.)

Oh, and this:

RNO: What’s the state of your relationship now?
Sarah: It changes minute by minute.
Terence: I’m waiting for her to propose to me.
Sarah: Yeah, we go up and down. We went through a pretty bad time when we got back from the race where basically I came home one day and Terence had dumped all of my belongings with my doorman and said he didn’t want to speak to me again.
We realized we were going to go through this together, and it’s a special thing to share, so that gave us an opportunity to give it another shot. It’s a very touch and go situation.
Terence: The Amazing Race tore us apart, but it also brought us back together. We got to watch eight episodes together. It’s been cool.

About dumping her stuff with the doorman -- why am I not surprised.

AGDee 11-20-2008 01:31 PM

He was making me want to vomit with all his "Great Job, Love" "You're doing great, Love" during their last episode. Plus, he was gushing about how much he loved her to Phil at the pit stop too. I was thinking to myself "Who are you trying to convince? Us or yourself?"

ComradesTrue 11-20-2008 01:37 PM

Let me get this straight....

Sarah endured Terrance through the whole race, and then she has watched all 8 episodes thus far. Therefore, she is seeing the same footage that we are.

They return home from the race and he dumps all of her stuff off with her doorman.

She hasn't dumped him yet, why?

nittanyalum 11-20-2008 03:26 PM

And didn't it say "newly dating" under their names on the show? But they were living together? Or am I remembering the wrong "moniker" for them?

It did. And I'm not sure how "living together" they were, since she refers to "my doorman." I took it that she had stuff at his department that he left, along with a message, with her doorman rather than actually talking to her himself.

What a mensch.
