I never liked Bennigan's. I think there's only 1 around here. I don't know anyone who really eats there and I wouldn't know if the 1 here has shut down.
|
People still go to Bennigans?

I remember when I was in high school that was the "in" place to go on a date - but that was QUITE some time ago. |
As Bennigans goes, so goes the country. I think I read that somewhere...
|
I drove by one yesterday and was shocked it was still there!
|
Ate there once...it was okay. Went a second time so I could say I'd "been again."
ROFL :D |
Bennigans single-handedly set back the acceptance of Irish-style pubs in the U.S. many many years.
|
Well, we still have Applechilifridabees, I think we'll be ok.

awww, i actually like bennigans... because its closer to my house (by 1 minute) than CLUB Fridays and PRE-PARTY Applebees.
i better use this giftcard soon. oh snap, will they still take giftcards???? i know sharper image stopped taking them when they filed. |

http://images.southparkstudios.com/i...acters/74a.jpg Seriously, the day Bennigan's is an economic indicator is the day I dig up Patrick Henry's decayed corpse and make sweet love to it. The oil level in my neighbor's bitchin' 1986 Berlinetta Camaro is more useful. Bennigan's sucks and should likely be out of business. Now, everyone check for a line at the Subway in your local Wal-Mart - that's better than any hedge-fund indicator. Holy shit. |

And count me in with the people who thought Bennigan's folded years ago. |
Our Walmart has Subway. There is always a line.
|
I've only been to Bennigan's once (in Chicago 2004) as we don't have them here.
We had 2 TGI Friday's locations, but both restaurants shut down in the last 3 years. I think I'm going to watch "WAITING" tonight. |
Ewww what's Bennigan's? I never been to one. It sounds gross, like a cross of Applebee's and Shoney's.

We've never had a Friday's, but we used to have a "Black Eyed Peas" for a while. It was almost exactly like Fridays...i wonder if it merged or became Fridays? hmmm.. |
Bennigans and Steak and Ale are owned by Metromedia Corporation outside of Dallas. I worked for them as a "corporate hostess" - a glorified receptionist - back when I was in college. The best part of the job was the "research" department, we got free food when they were testing new recipe's.
This news is kind of a bummer to me - end of an era. |

they were not absorbed into Fridays, from what i know. they just went... away. |

Ahhh Black Eyed Peas. I remember it being pretty good...for a pseudo soul food place. As for Friday's, it's one of the few chains that I like. |

Only the company owned Bennigan's are required to close. Any that are franchises are not subject to the same regulations. (I hope some of the ones around here weren't corporate b/c I've only eaten there once recently and it was really good-not that I can afford to eat out anymore :()

it sucks though that all those people lost their jobs and had absolutely NO NOTICE whatsoever and are now trying to figure out what they will do next. |
