Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince -- the movie

There doesn't seem to be a thread about the movie yet, but the trailer was released tonight on the web; it will be in theaters on Friday. You can see it here.

superjoe89 07-30-2008 03:16 AM

SydneyK 07-30-2008 08:27 AM

The trailer is great - can't wait for the movie! Thanks, MC!

I do, too, but I still love the movies. (Well, I didn't love Prisoner of Azkaban, but that's a different story.) :p

I've heard that Deathly Hallows is going to be made into two movies instead of condensing it all to fit into one. I'll have to find that link...

Still, I think the trailer for Half-Blood Prince looks great. :D

Here you go. ;) My understanding is that the first movie will end when Ron comes back.

piphiangel314 07-30-2008 01:22 PM

Oh man, I'm so pumped for this movie!

Thankfully there is no age limit for anything Harry Potter. I used to be a closet fan, only to find out all my friends were as hooked as I am. For anyone going to see the Mummy this weekend, I've heard they will be showing the trailer before the movie.

IlovemyAKA 07-31-2008 05:15 PM

^^^
lol--I too, was a closet fan. I'm still alone as far as my friends go, but they have to deal with it! :p

DaemonSeid 08-15-2008 07:43 AM

It's been delyed

"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," the sixth installment in the blockbuster film franchise about boy wizard Harry, is moving from its planned Nov. 21 release to July 17, 2009, distributor Warner Bros. said Thursday.

On one hand, I fell that they should have been doing this anyway because it has to be hectic always shooting these movies...on the other hand, it's kind of lame to delay it now especially since they JUST released the trailers for the movie this week!

And....the writer's strike was LAST year...what happened between now and then that they still don't have it together!!!

RaggedyAnn 08-15-2008 08:09 AM

This probably has more to do with The Tales of Beedle the Barb. They want to drag out the Harry Potter dynasty as long as possible.

nikki1920 08-15-2008 08:19 AM

I hate Warner Brothers.

I was all ready to take Nov. 21 off and now THIS?! And it can't be money, they just got paid from The Dark Knight.

MysticCat 08-15-2008 09:51 AM

Drat. I'd like to throw a few unforgivable curses around.

LttleMsPrEp 08-15-2008 12:03 PM

I'm soo excited for the movie to come out.. it just sucks that I have to wait that long to see it

AOII_LB93 08-15-2008 12:07 PM

Lame that they are blaming the strike... And a whole year? I think WB just wants to cash in one summer movie going and break a new record. Jerks.:(

LttleMsPrEp 08-15-2008 12:21 PM

which is why i hate WB

christiangirl 08-15-2008 08:03 PM

What in the name of Merlin's most baggy Y-fronts are they doing?? Everyone at WB are nothing more than a bunch of floppy wanded dementor-boggers.

AGDee 08-15-2008 08:28 PM

Sheesh. By the time the two movies from Deathly Hallows are made, nobody is going to care anymore and the actors will be retirement age.

LOL, one would wish, but that is SOOO not going to happen...

ASUADPi 08-16-2008 12:00 AM

Whats even more LAME is the stupid teaser trailer says NOVEMBER as the release month. GRRR to stupid Warner Brothers. Its bad enough that they are splitting book 7 into two movies (because lets face it, in reality they could make it one 3 hour movie, but they don't want too), releasing them like 6 months apart to get more money from us unwitting fools who will pay it.

I don't get why WB would want a July release date in the first frickin place. Transformers 2 is coming out next summer. Terminator 4 is also coming out next summer. It just seems like a really stupid time to be releasing a movie. Because lets face it, HP vs. Transformers, Transformers is going to win, hands down.

The worse part is, by pushing the release from November to July that means the first part of Deathly Hallows won't be released in May 2010 (as originally scheduled). As if the actors aren't starting to "look their age" in the first place

trideltrockstar 08-16-2008 12:47 AM

I couldn't believe that they are pushing back the movie by almost a year!!!!!!!! I AM SO ANGRY!

It has to do with the fact that due to the writer's strike, they won't have anything big to come out next summer, I guess. Everything will be out by spring or won't be through with production until after the summer.

They'll still go ahead and film DH as scheduled -- they have to because the actors, director and everyone else have that time blocked out. (I'm told the plan is to begin filming early this spring, when Daniel Radcliff finished "Equus.") They'll just hold it in the can longer.

Still . . . Boooo! Boooo!

AGDee 08-17-2008 10:34 AM

My daughter came running out of her room to tell me that since HP was moved to July, Twilight was moved up to be released November 21st.

Confirmed on StephenieMeyer.com!

OMG, I'd love that! I was worried about having to go see it by myself but the only good thing about this being pushed back is that I'll be able to be home to see it with my sister.:D

But that's reaching for a silver lining. I still wanna go through the streets screaming, YOU COMPLETE ARSE,WARNER BROTHERS!!

ETA: VOLDEMORT'S NIPPLE!!! I just realized that the conference I'm leading ends the day the movie comes out so I won't get back till the day after. Ooooh, this is such unicorn turds! :(

nikki1920 08-18-2008 01:33 AM

CG: you owe me a new monitor.

NOT "Voldemort's nipple" AND "unicorn turds".

christiangirl 08-18-2008 03:25 AM

^^^Aww, you hurt your monitor?...:(

Dobby's sock.

LightBulb 10-27-2008 04:21 AM

Here's a different trailer.

Pike/PhiDeltmom 10-27-2008 07:05 AM

Wow! Thanks for passing on the trailer. It looks as if the movie is going to be amazing! I am still disappointed that the release date was moved from November to next year.

ASUADPi 10-27-2008 08:24 AM

The end of the trailor is pretty funny (Hermoine hitting Harry with the paper).

Ok, I guess I need to totally re-read book six because I don't remember half of what the preview showed even happening. Did Harry even play Quidditch in book 6?

Don't read it right before seeing it. I did that with the third movie, as a refresher, and came away so disapointed because so much was changed and left out from the book.

christiangirl 10-27-2008 11:30 AM

What's with all the fire in the field? Why is Harry running through grass? I don't remember that...

IlovemyAKA 10-27-2008 11:33 AM

I figured all of that was related to the journey to the cave

nikki1920 10-27-2008 02:35 PM

Guess I found my book for this month, lol! I don't remember ANYTHING about HBP. :( Except Lavender and Ron, I think. Won-Won.

I'm going to PM you so I don't post a spoiler in here. But it wasn't in the book.

Go ahead and post it here. Just include a spoiler alert and change the color to "whitesmoke": [ color = whitesmoke ] spoiler [ /color ] (without the spaces).
