My son is one of the managers at the bar that is on the cover!! Whoohoo!! He was pretty excited... |
Woohoo!!
Go Gators!! ;) Funny that a lot of the pics I'm seeing on the 'net, for this story, are of people who are not of typical collegiate age...but much older. |
I get the feeling this thread will hurt Scandia's feelings.
Woohoo! Go Gators! (Except on August 30th) :p |
Hmmm...5 are SEC schools. Imagine that?!

They don't want the 18 and up group in there because a)they tend to cause the most issues b) they are trying to be more "upscale" and c) the youngsters don't tip well;). Most of their clientelle are professionals, people employed at the uni and others who work in Gainesville. The exciting thing is that many old "Gator" players, especially basketball, have been frequenting the club. My son calls my middle son, who is a walking sports encyclopedia, to report who's in the club:) It's a nice/fun place... |
Ohio University does it again.
|
Back in the old days when Greek Week was sponsored by Miller, West Georgia recycled more cans and keg stickers than any other college in the country.

Replying on the video...Berie Machen has been trying to downgrade the partying since he first came to UF. He has even required all freshmen to take an online alcohol prevention course...I guess his efforts aren't working...it's Gainesville, you don't have anything else to do but party!!!:D |
Aw, boo. WVU was #1 last year.

I'm obvsiously late on this, but I am dumbfounded on how UF topped this list. I had to transfer out of Gainesville before I started UF because I was so bored. Maybe I wasn't there long enough to give it a chance, but that was by far the worst experience ever.
|
^^neither Gville or Tally have a lot going on from what I hear.

Other than the schools, not really. At least Tallahassee has FAMU as another school where things are happening. Ahhh, but I am quite nostalgic about my days partying at UF before I was even in college! :D |

And since when does The Princeton Review make the ultimate decision on which school is a party school? |
Well, I think the problem with Gainesville is that all the bars are dispersed throughout downtown, so the student population is sprinkled in different places. Instead of all the students being in one general area, there are small amounts of students at different places. With the exception of Gator City and Rue Bar, I never found a full bar. The aforementioned were generally too packed to have fun. Plus, they only went out on Friday and Saturday nights, it was a ghost town during the rest of the week. The cover was AWFUL as well.
With Tallahassee, we pretty much have one block (The Strip) with about 6-7 bars, which concentrates a huge amount of students in 7ish bars all next to each other. I love the Tally party scene, it's packed virtually every night. The cover is low and you meet so many people. The Princeton Review failed. I'm glad I made the switch. |
Ohio U is notorious in the state as the "party school." So they got that right. I think my school has a bit of a rep in the state as being "the party school for kids who don't want to go like 4 hours away to Athens to party."
