WICKED..THE MUSICAL
Got question about ordering tix on line.
The Atlanta Fox tickets don't go on sale until next Saturday at 10. The website "says" that tickets are no more than $70 but I've been seeing various ticket sites where "past the nosebleed" section is more than $80 and lower sections are over $300.. How much of the other ticket sites are gouging? I feel more comfortable buying directly from The Fox/Ticketmaster. I think I need 6 tix. What's your experience/knowledge? |

I started a thread on this a year or so ago...I was shocked by Atlanta prices so we're going to see it in Birmingham in April. It's a lot cheaper, especially if you get group rates (20 or more). I bet you could get a good group rate in Atlanta too.

It's too much of a hassle trying to arrange 6, lol.
I REALLLY wanted to go on Halloween even if it is by birthday:D but one of the others has a conflict. |
Lets see, I think our Wicked tickets were like $70 bucks and that was with our discount for purchasing season tickets. Hey, I'm just thrilled that it is coming back to Gammage, since it came here last year for like 1 week and it sold out in like a day.
|
Those Atlanta prices are much lower than Detroit. I just got front row side tickets to Wicked for $88 a piece. The main floor center were $143 a piece. 1st Mezzanine were $68.
Those were the discounted ones for purchasing season tickets. |
[In most venues] I really recommend buying season tickets (if it's not too late) to get the Wicked tickets. Most venues will let you buy cheap-cheap seats to all of the other shows and then upgrade your Wicked tickets to whereever you REALLY want them. I'm glad I did it, because single Wicked tickets here sold out in SIX HOURS. I would not have had the kind of time to wait in line/troll ticketmaster.com/spend 3 hours on the phone. And, with the season ticket discount, it really was only a couple dollars more than single tickets - and WAAAAAY less than you would pay a 3rd party/scalper/ebayer.

When I saw Wicked in Seattle, I think our tickets for the balcony were $90 + fees.
|
Lynn, I've been doing the same thing for several weeks. Have you seen where some ticketbrokers are selling the very last row in the farthest balcony for $180? No way! Guess I'll be online w/ fifteen billion other people this Saturday morning.
But I do have a consolation prize if I don't get anything I like (read: reasonable): we have tickets to see it in NYC on December 18! |

I've got to ask, as a person who likes musicals, but doesn't LOVE them like a lot of people seem to, is Wicked really worth seeing? I've seen Les Mis, Porgy and Bess, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Phantom, Sound of Music(with Marie Osmond as Maria, no less) and a couple others I can't think of right now. I would go with a girlfriend as I know my husband would probably shoot me if I took him to it.

YES! YES! YES! It is absolutely worth it!!!! |
YES YES YES
Did I say YES?
:D Going back for a 2nd time. |
I saw Wicked today, front row, side aisle. WOW! That was about all I could say afterward was "WOW!" Great musical.. the best I've seen to date. Even my (almost) 13 year old son loved it. He wasn't thrilled about going but he really enjoyed it. My daughter (almost 15) cried!
Rent is in Feb and we have 3rd row center. Now my son wants to see SpamALot. |
I saw Rent on tour about 2 years ago- LOVED it. The guy who played Roger ended up in the Broadway cast a few months later.
Wicked is coming to SA in June and I told my parents over a year in advance that I want tickets on my birthday :) |

Sigh.... Yes - LOVED Wicked, too... and I LOVE Rent! I bought tickets for Spamalot when it comes to Atlanta in March for the guy I'm dating's Christmas present. He loves the old musicals, but hasn't done much of the new ones. Not sure how well it will go over, but if he takes me ;), then I will certainly enjoy myself. |
Wicked is part of next year's season ticket package in Toledo. I have seen both RENT and Spamalot and they are fabulous.

Sounds like y'all have a similar program to what we have down in OKC. There's a program called "Celebrity Attractions" which books all of these shows for our music hall. My folks have season tickets and really good seats.
$80/seat doesn't sound out of line for the upper decks.. |
We're going to NYC for a few days after Christmas and I REALLY want to see Wicked!!
But, I'm afraid we've waited too late for tickets. :-( We're going to try to get day-of leftovers... |
I saw Wicked last night and it was fantastic! Even better, we got a backstage tour after the show and met some of the cast. The makeup artist painted my hand green like Elphaba and that was fun. I posted some pictures on my myspace & facebook.
