Project Runway Season 5

Anyone else excited?
Only 10 minutes before it starts!

tld221 07-16-2008 09:00 PM

im flipping back and forth between Baby Borrowers.

tld221 07-16-2008 09:47 PM

i hope to HAYLE that the designers are better than this first challenge? there are only 2 designs i like. the rest are just unimaginative and blah.

lillady85 07-16-2008 10:03 PM

I really thought that Stella would go home. She seemed so bored and whiny throughout the episode. Some of the designs were sooo forgettable.
I wonder what the car material episode will produce.

KDAngel 07-17-2008 08:53 AM

Why is it on at 9 instead of 10?

PeppyGPhiB 07-17-2008 12:54 PM

They moved the time slot up to try and get a few more viewers. Rumor has it, though, that Bravo is trying to ruin the series so it does poorly on Lifetime. Tim Gunn's interviews about this season have given the impression that this season won't be as satisfying to viewers.

Regarding last night's challenge, though many of them used tablecloths, I liked several of the designs. I loved the vacuum cleaner bag skirt, but I hated the bodice of the dress. I liked the mop head dress, as well as the one that used placemats. And the plastic cup dress must have been very tedious to assemble. I'm glad they kicked off the guy they did - when someone said that it reminded them of American Psycho, they took the words right out of my mouth. And he actually told the judges the outfit was for a night out on the town? That was a pretty clueless response.

WOOT for two designers from the PacNW!

OH, anyone notice that a few of the models look a little bit meatier than in past seasons? In a good way, I mean. The girl in the blue cup dress definitely looked curvy.

That is the new time slot. It also looks like they are reairing the episodes at 11 for those who miss it at 9.

Still BLUTANG 07-17-2008 01:24 PM

blue cup dress - amazing! also the coffee filter bleach & dye skirt - too cute and it looked wearable alone - the top was not the business.
my absolute FAVORITE dress was the yellow one by korto.

I am TOTALLY addicted to Project Runway! I agree with the winner, however, thought Stella should have been given the boot for her uninspired design. Oh, well, I guess that MK, NG and HK saw something we did not!

Can't wait for next week.......

LeslieAGD 07-17-2008 02:38 PM

I know it's only been one episode, but this season's designers are boring and don't appear to have much creativity.

Benzgirl 07-17-2008 04:53 PM

I forgot to watch it last night, but...............
.................I do have it on the DVR
.................................................. .Tonight!

squirrely girl 07-17-2008 04:57 PM

I totally noticed her!! For a model, she looks heavy. (which is really sad for me to say! lol)

I loved the bottom of the vaccuum dress but not the coffee filter top!

Benzgirl 07-17-2008 07:33 PM

Watched the episode. Loved the vacuum cleaner bag skirt and if you looked the the details of the coffee filter top, it was amazing.

I already have spotted my annoying contestant of the year. It's the Christian wannabe -- Blayne with the tanning bed addiction.

I'm hooked again. Can't wait until next week.

I loved the vacuum cleaner bag outfit. Suede was a bit of an annoyance talking about himself in the 3rd person in every one of his interviews. Love Tim, but he seemed extra crabby last night when he was checking out the outfits.

Austin looked like he had waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much work done on his face. He looked really plastic almost like a robot.

I don't know if it's the tan I hate or the this is "girl-licious" every ten seconds from him. But the outfit was at least more inspired than others.

Ahh! I hope Stella goes home!

:lightbulb: there was a LOT of potential with working in a supermarket, and like Tim said, im surprised that many of them went with fabric-esque items.

The mop-top, the bodice thing made out of a kickball (which ive NEVER seen in a Gristede's) and the yellow dress was the awesomest. The dress made out of Solo cups, wouldve been cool as just a top. it looked a little bulky and heavy.

i didnt see season 1 to compare the challenges. and i flipped back and forth with Baby Borrowers.

umm yes, can we get Christian back for like one ep? I miss my overuse of "tranny" and "firrrrrrrrce"

The first time he said girl-licious, I wanted to reach into the TV to smack him. Every girl-licious after that was plain annoyance. Hope he and his fake-bake are the next to go.

PeppyGPhiB 07-19-2008 09:18 PM

Blayne's obsession with tanning is a little weird for a Seattleite, although we do have a lot of tanning places around here. I guess because we have a lot of cloudy skies for 2/3 of the year. Most people I know that go tanning, though, do it before a beach vacation or to do Mystic Tan, not to actually use tanning beds all the time.

Kappamd 07-24-2008 12:20 PM

No Project Runway posts yet?!?

squirrely girl 07-24-2008 01:47 PM

i really liked jennifer's dress (the orange and grey flowing) and kenley's (the huge collar) although i'm not sure i could pull off that collar...

other than that, i'm super excited to see how suede's gets mass manufactured for bluefly

PeppyGPhiB 07-24-2008 02:08 PM

When Suede first started on his dress I thought it was going to be a mess, but I loved the end result. Those two brown satin dresses sure were ugly.

I read in USAToday that they are only manufacturing 150 of Suade's dress and they are to be sold for $280. I wonder if they will tweak it all so that it is a little more easily worn by the masses.

Benzgirl 07-24-2008 06:13 PM

I'm sure that behind the scenes Wesley was saying, "it wasn't my fault". Blayne still annoys me with his tanorexia and everything-licious.

Loved Suede's dress.

LeslieAGD 07-24-2008 06:39 PM

My favorite was Terri's dark blue dress. Wesley's was terrible, but I think Jarrell's was worthy of the bottom three...talk about a tacky prostitute dress!

Benzgirl 07-24-2008 07:18 PM

I watched Suede's 60 "seconds with" video on BravoTV.com and he said he attended Amish School. So I'm Googling like mad as to where there is an Amish school in Cleveland.

I came across this old article which states he went to Normandy (Catholic school) and Kent State (hey, KSU Violet).
http://blog.cleveland.com/pdextra/20...en_whitne.html

What I found most surprising was in the first episode he says something about making millions for others. This article makes it sound like is is quite well off.

AOII_LB93 07-24-2008 07:21 PM

It's just too hard to keep all the designers seperate in my head at the moment...there are too many of them. I have to wait until it gets whittled down though. Though here are my opinions on the ones I remember. Love my Natalie Portman, but she had too much eye makeup on for my liking today.

I really dislike Stella...I have a feeling we are going to be seeing laced up biker chic trash every time. Plus, she really didn't listen to her model at all.

I can't stand the girl-licious crap with tanorexic Blayne.

Jarrell? He cracked me up when the other designer took his model and he said he was feeling salty. His dress was not at all classy cocktail party.

Suede talking about himself in the third person is so 15 minutes ago...he needs to just knock it the heck off.

ADqtPiMel 07-24-2008 08:52 PM

I love Kenley and want to hire her as my stylist/personal designer.

Fleur de Lis 07-24-2008 11:23 PM

I bet the bluefly seamstresses were hoping Kenley would win. Suede's dress just looks SO complicated! I am not invested in any one designer yet. Honestly, when Wesley was in the bottom two, I thought "I have never even noticed him before!"

BTW, did you know that Wesley and Daniel are dating??? It's like Top Chef except one gets kicked off before the news breaks. :P

Yes!! I cannot stand Stella for a second. She even admitted that this was so out of her league. It's like, if you are a designer, then take it as a challenge and don't freak out like last week with the garbage bags. Her model wanted draping and my first thought was "Rami would have loved her".

As for Suede...sigh. Cute dress but sigh. Suede does this, Suede likes that.

I wish Blayne did not feel the need to add "licious" to every other word he says.

MeezDiscreet 07-25-2008 02:14 AM

When Blayne called his model "Licious" I seriously wanted to puke!! It's so obvious that he's trying to have a gimmick to make him stand out but "licious" is not a good look. AT.ALL.

I totally belive that this:

http://www.bravotv.com/widgets/bin/g...way_04_502.jpg

was worse than this:

ASUADPi 07-25-2008 09:22 AM

I had a feeling Suede would win. And I would bet my measley teacher salary that in the next month or so there will be a picture in some magazine of Natalie wearing the dress (since she did say she loved it and wanted one and in reality it would probably look super cute on her since she is a stick and weighs nothing :D).

I liked Kenley's dress.

As for the brown dresses, I actually felt bad for the designers because the models picked some pretty horrible fabric. That being said, you use what you have and you make wonders out of it, which they just didn't seem to do.

I think he's trying to be this season's Christian and "fierce." It just ain't working.

On Top Chef, the women revealed they were a couple on the first episode.

What I think is interesting or strange was that I read in an interview with Kelli Martin (winner of the grocery store challenge) said one of her closest friends on the show was Wesley. How could you become close with someone who gets the boot in the second episode? She said the contestant that she didn't like so much had an annoying laugh. I'm trying to figure out who has an annoying laugh

srmom 07-25-2008 06:24 PM

That blue dress makes the model look like a slutty pocahantes.

lillady85 07-25-2008 07:02 PM

Hot tranny Pocahontas mess.

KDAngel 07-31-2008 09:23 AM

I'm a huge fan of Kinley's, even though I don't know why she won over Leanne last night.

MaggieXi 07-31-2008 10:16 AM

Granted, I know I'm in a bad mood today. However, I just don't think these designers as good as last season. I thought Kinley's dress was ok, that Leanne's was probably better - but I just expected more.

Suede cracks me up. Maggiexi likes Suede. Maggiexi hopes Suede will stay around for comic relief.

Tanorexic guys totally weirded me out with all that "I'm gonna eat you" stuff. Weirdo.
