Age when Initiated

tried to search this topic and got some random results so I decided to start a new one.

I just wanted to get a general idea of the age that some of you ladies (and gents) when you were officially initiated into your sorority or fraternity.

And if you had the choice to do it again: would you do it at an older or younger age?

I'll be the first. I was 36 when I was initiated into my sorority. That was in 2000.

If I had the chance to do it again: I can't say whether I would do it at an older or younger age. Things happen when they are supposed to happen in our lives.

mccoyred 07-12-2008 07:19 AM

I was initiated at the tender age of 18 in the fall of my sophomore year. I know that this bucks conventional wisdom but if I had to do it over again, I probably would have waited for alumnae chapter....

I don't know what your experiences were, but I haven't decided whether I'm glad I waited or not.

On one hand, I definitely didn't have time for foolishness as college student. On the other, dammit if foolishness ain't everywhere!

To answer the question, I was 23.

DSTCHAOS 07-12-2008 10:29 AM

20--junior--turned 21 that summer.

It happened when it was supposed to happen. :) Not a minute sooner.

9dstpm 07-12-2008 01:28 PM

I was 26 when I was initiated in spring of 2002. I agree with the rest of the posters; it happens when it's supposed to happen. There is a time for everything.

DSTRen13 07-12-2008 05:05 PM

I was a senior, age 22. It happened no sooner or later than it should have.

Velocity_14 07-12-2008 09:19 PM

I was 26 and turned 27 that September (Sp. 2007). It happened in God's perfect timing so I would not have had it any other way.

I was 19 when I pledged. Wow, that was a long time ago! lol

KAPital PHINUst 07-13-2008 01:57 AM

I was over the age of 30 when I joined Kappa.

And if I could do it again, I would definately do it at a younger age. But hey, like Nationwide Insurance, life comes at you fast. :)

5Knowledge1913 07-13-2008 06:59 PM

I was 19. Wished that it had happened sooner, but I am simply glad that it happened!

So was I. I had just turn 19 less than 2 months prior to joining. I wasn't the baby, but the 3rd youngest! :D

MeezDiscreet 07-13-2008 07:22 PM

Even if I had pledged younger, I wouldn't have wanted any other set of line sisters.

NiaX 07-13-2008 11:03 PM

20, turned 21 that fall.

Angelicqt716 07-13-2008 11:09 PM

24 when I joined , and I wanted to do it younger, but that's not what was in the plan! Just glad it happened at all!

lane 07-14-2008 12:15 AM

I was 41 years old when I was initiated. As a matter of fact, I had a birthday during the process. Wish I would have completed when I was younger but things happen for a reason. Side note... I wasn't the oldest on my line. hahaha.

sigmadiva 07-14-2008 01:48 PM

I was 18 when I joined. I'm glad I did it at that age because had I waited, I don't think I would have been willing to make the time post-undergrad.

Besides, I was also willing at that age to do more silly greek related stuf. :p

jojapeach 07-14-2008 02:20 PM

I had just turned 24 when I joined alumnae chapter. Sometimes, I wish I were able to do it at an earlier age in undergrad, but everything happened when it was supposed to.

PrettyBoy 07-14-2008 02:21 PM

20.

I turned 21 in December 8 months later.

dzdst796 07-14-2008 03:40 PM

I was 30 and wouldn't change any part of my experience.

LetItGo 07-14-2008 04:05 PM

I was 27; it wasn't to early and it wasn't to late, it was exactly the RIGHT time!

nikki1920 07-14-2008 04:30 PM

I was 22.
Just perfect timing.

Thanks for all the responses... I was just trying to get an general age range.... Those of you who said 23 or older, if not previously noted, was that your undergrad or grad chapter......

It was a grad chapter. In my undergrad years I didn't know much about my sorority. :(

dzdst796 07-15-2008 11:29 AM

I was undergrad. Don't ask.:):):)

DSTsFBI 07-15-2008 03:23 PM

I was 20 when my process began, but turned 21 a couple of weeks after it began...I must say that I began my process in God's good timing.

lol--I'll answer, but I'll also say don't look for those of us 23 or older to help you validate your decision to pursue. If it's for you, it'll happen. If it's not, it won't.

All of the polls on GC won't change that.

I was undergrad.

kommitted1973 07-15-2008 06:28 PM

Undergrad

I was 32 & turned 33 2 days later :D. Needless to say it was one of my best birthday's ever!

DarkEnglish 07-15-2008 07:14 PM

I was 27. It happened exactly when it was supposed to.
