nikki1920 07-10-2008 10:15 AM

Jesse:
stop it. You are not a child, stop crying because Obama is a more viable candidate than you were.

Then there ya have it.

And Jessie Jackson Jr. ripped his dad a new a-hole while referring to him only as "Reverend Jesse Jackson."

/end detour

I would say Jackson's career is over, but considering the sort of things the man has been caught doing, this is really just par for the course.

DSTCHAOS 07-10-2008 10:40 AM

My opinion of Jackson hasn't changed because of this. His good deeds (that the general public isn't aware of) aren't minimized because of this.

This is about the election, as far as I'm concerned. Jackson will keep doing the instrumental behind the scenes stuff that he's been doing.

In my opinion, his outrage over Obama is over his bottom line. If he can't play the race card because a black man is president...he won't have much money left because that's pretty much all the substance he has. Outrage over whitey and so on.

But I and many others are aware of what he really does. So run along.

Ah once again Jessie places foot in mouth!

He feels applogetic because he did not know the mike was live not for what he said!:p

He may have done some good, but he has sure done a lot of harm!

Why does everyone think he can walk on water?

So how does this mode of argument work? You claim knowledge of which you provide no evidence, and then you dismiss others. It's interesting, but maybe not effective.

Jackson, accurately perceived or not, has a lot of his public image involved in advocating about racial issues. If Obama effectively sells a "post-racial" view to most of America, it does kind of mess with Jackson's gig.

Who knows who 'everyone' refers to.

No one is above criticism and being criticized doesn't mean that your career (both in and out of the public eye) is over. For instance, the death of Strom Thurman was mourned by many despite various criticisms and allegations throughout the years.

DSTCHAOS 07-10-2008 01:49 PM

This is what Jackson's sentiments were about, as far as I'm concerned. LOL.

"This year’s conference has extra significance as this presidential election year marks the 20th anniversary of Rev. Jackson’s historic 1988 run for the presidency of the United States. His 1984 and 1988 campaigns were the first serious bids by an African-American man for the nation’s highest office.... "

...That had nothing to do with anything I said.

Furthermore, I know more than plenty of bad things he has done...using Chicago gangs to drive out competitors...lie about holding MLKjr when he was no where near him, lying about being a reverend when he didn't graduate from seminary and actually made really bad marks in the school, etc, etc.

I guess it depends on what your goals are.

Sure it does. You went on some "race card" and whitey rant and I'm letting you know that what Jackson does isn't reduced to race or to whitey.

To dislike someone for their public antics is your business. But you can't reduce their contribution to these public antics just because you (and the general public that waits for the mainstream media to tell them everything) haven't chosen to be informed.

Were you assuming another meaning to whitey rant? Perhaps you should've kept my comment within the "race card" and whitey rant context.

I’m willing to give you the benefit of the doubt that your use of the phrase “whitey rant” was just a repeat of what Elephant Walk had said but your second use of the term whitey was used with racial connotations.

So the first whitey is a repeat of what EW said but the second whitey isn't?

Shut up.

TexasWSP 07-11-2008 11:19 AM

Jackson came to East Texas to speak on behalf of a black family involved in a hate crime a while back......can't remember what it was but we were discussing it over lunch the other day (one of our black landmen started talking to us about his current antics). He told us that he tried to charge a 50,000$ appearance fee for coming down to our neck of the woods and "helping" with the situation.

Piece of shit human. Carry on.

PhiGam 07-11-2008 12:46 PM

Jackson meant every word he said, the guy is a joke. Its truly sad that anyone takes this nutjob seriously at this point.
