Sonic

I am finally in hawg heaven.......when i left College (Arkansas) and OKC (divorce) to move back to Southern California in 2000 i had to give up my secert love affair with Sonic and their Rte 44 Cherry lime aides.....Finally my prayers have been asnwered and the goold lord is looking down on us in so cal as they opened one here last week in Victorville and i am in love once again with the cherry lime aide ppl!

christiangirl 07-06-2008 12:55 AM

You just made me hungry.

summer_gphib 07-06-2008 08:32 AM

Diet cherry limeaide with pineapple... *drool* :D Love it!

catiebug 07-06-2008 09:02 AM

The closest Sonic to Connecticut (last time I checked) was in West Virginia.

<<sob>>

But then I just remind myself that I am boycotting Sonic since they took the country fried steak sandwich (or as we call it in Texas - chicken fried steak) off the menu. And with the closest Sonic being so far away, it's not hard to do.

Of all the fast food in all the world, nothing beat a chicken fried steak sandwich on Texas toast, onion rings and a ROute 44 cherry-limeade slushie.

Damn, I'm hungry...

There are 2 Sonics in PA---1 in Morgantown, PA and the other one in Lancaster, PA (near the Lancaster Outlets.)

Elephant Walk 07-06-2008 10:52 AM

Sonic is the best. It is unfortunate they don't have 'em when I go up north.

edit: the best is happy hour.

carnation 07-06-2008 11:28 AM

Sonic is right down the road from us! We like the dollar milkshake day.

Jill1228 07-06-2008 11:53 AM

My older sister is addicted to the strawberry slushies! Thankfully for her, there are Sonics all over Virginia Beach :)

We have one right up the road from us. However if we move to the South Bay (San Jose area) the closest one to us will be in Tracy (right near where we are now)

Their happy hour rocks!

kstar 07-06-2008 12:37 PM

There are 9 sonics in my town.

Also, none of the Sonics around here have ever had a chicken fried steak sandwich. Del Rancho kinda has the market cornered on that.

Army Wife'79 07-06-2008 12:59 PM

I love the couple in the TV commercials. They are a hoot.

We have them within two hours of the Canadian border in North Idaho and Eastern Washington. I was very happy for cherry limeade when I got back from Alaska. They even have the poor people on roller skates, even in the winter.

They have them in southern Idaho too, but I don't ever go there.

We have a Sonic in Washington?!

AGDee 07-06-2008 03:12 PM

We just got a Sonic in the area. I've heard there is almost always an hour wait to get your food. I'm hoping the hype dies down so I can try it someday!

One in Spokane, and two in Tri Cities (Pasco & Kennewick). When I had medical appointments in Spokane it was always a highlight to have cherry limeade and something deep fried served to me on roller skates.

DeltAlum 07-06-2008 04:59 PM

They're opening a lot of new Sonics in the Denver area. It's great.

christiangirl 07-06-2008 06:37 PM

THAT'S IT!!! I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!

*picks up purse and walks out the door*

txdiva 07-06-2008 06:54 PM

^^^Can you pick up a mocha Java Chiller for me? :D

christiangirl 07-06-2008 08:21 PM

^^Lol, sorry, I'm already back. I destroyed the Coney Dog, but you want my tots? I only ate half. :o

Man, that Diet Cherry Limeade was the WIN.

Morgantown's in PA now??? No way in hell I'm claiming that hole for my state! lol

There are actually more Sonics in PA than that. There's several in the Pittsburgh area

EE-BO 07-06-2008 09:12 PM

Oh man, Sonic! When I was a kid, they were everywhere down here in Texas. Then for a long time they just disappeared from the major cities and in the past 10 years of course have come back with a vengence.

When I was in high school, I drove up to UT a fair amount- and we always stopped at the Sonic in Sealy. My truck still has a big pink stain on the passenger floormat where a giant Cherry Limeade went flying when I took a turn too fast.

6 months into my "change in eating habits" I would probably get sick if I tried, but I often think of my favorite Sonic meal- cheeseburger with mustard, lettuce and extra onions; 2 Sonic sized cartons of tater tots and the movie-theater-popcorn-bucket sized cherry limeade...

Dang, I may have to just go try it this week now...

They're still everywhere in some parts of TX. In the town next to where I live, there are two Sonics about two miles from each other! :)

Morgantown is big time now! They have a WalMart Supercenter and the Sonic! LOL!

I didn't know that they had more Sonics in Western PA, but the franchisee for Eastern PA has only opened these two. The guy wants to open more, but he hasn't made any decisions on locations...maybe KOP?

PiKA2001 posted a thread about this a while ago. Yep we finally got one but the wait, after a few months being open, is still at shortest 20 minutes. I've heard the food and price are not worth it.

Oh, I hate the commercials!!
We have about 10 Sonics within 25 miles...they're all over the place!
I like the Lemon-Berry slush and cheese tots.

I just looked it up on the Sonic website...says there's 8 in PA

ETA: My exboyfriend used to "cruise" Sonic in the little town where he used to live.

They sell the Sonic chicken fried steak sandwich (the breakfast one and the regular meal) at their location on Lindsey and Biloxi....have had one there.

tinydancer 07-07-2008 01:13 PM

I suddenly feel the need for a lime slush.

Drolefille 07-07-2008 02:21 PM

Is it happy hour yet?

And the Sonic ice is what really makes their drinks awesome.

Scully 07-07-2008 03:44 PM

Why does Sonic play with my emotions? I live in New York and I must see their commercials a dozen times a day. Yet there are no restaurants within 69.05 miles of my house. So I had written them an email asking why they spend precious money advertising in cities where a Sonic doesn't exist. They wrote back, "Keep checking the website for future locations!" I said no. But those shakes look damn good.

Mmmm that's my favorite slushy (slushie?)!! My favorite is either the SuperSonic Cheeseburger w/Mayo and add lots of Jalapenos, OR the Chicken Club Toaster mmmmmm...

The Sonic sweet Tea is the bomb! (Well when they make it properly! lol)

Ever since I started having problems w/ my gallbladder, I haven't been able to hold down any Sonic food.

The one thing I HATE about Sonic now is that they changed their happy hour time from 2-4. I miss the old Happy Hour time.

piphiangel314 07-07-2008 09:14 PM

I worked at Sonic for a year, and I can only eat it occasionally.

My favorite drink though is a green apple Mello Yellow. It tastes good if you enjoy sour stuff.

Or, if you want to be daring, get a root beer with added grape flavor. It tastes like a purple Skittle!

Kevin 07-07-2008 11:29 PM

Sonics' corporate HQ is here in OKC, so we have one on about every corner. I avoid fast food in general, but they're everywhere.

One thing though -- they are a great fundraiser. They'll let you carhop for tips. My wife's band and orchestra (she directs both) use Sonic carhopping as one of their main fundraisers.

txdiva 07-08-2008 12:43 AM

Damn, I want a Route 44 strawberry limeade right now!!!

icelandelf 07-08-2008 01:13 AM

I want a Route 44 Cherry Limeade. I wonder if Sonic is still open right now...

nikki1920 07-08-2008 01:39 AM

While I was in KS, I ate at Sonic about 4 times. STILL didnt get a milkshake though.

WAIT!! A coney combo? Im going tomorrow.

catiebug 07-08-2008 03:58 PM

I'm going to Joplin, Missouri (flying into/out of Kansas City) in two weeks for a wedding. I'm going to get my Sonic fix!!!

They got about twenty of them, I swear.

cutiepatootie 07-08-2008 11:49 PM

When i lived in OKC i remeber the sweetheart shake: strawberry milkshake with chunks of chocolate through out it........oh how i am craving that right now!

christiangirl 07-09-2008 12:34 AM

^^^Mmmmm....my stomach is on the verge of a growl. I have a serious chocolate craving right now.
