So are you asking a question, or was that supposed to be an informative "hey we're going to do a skit this year!!! yay!" post ?

Also, you may want to check with your campus panhellenic... some schools are no longer doing the "frills" rush with skits etc.

if you're asking if anyone has done a wizard of oz skit, my chapter did one for formal recruitment last year and maybe couple years before that also. It turned out really cute and showed all the different aspects of our chapter

We did one back in the 80s

Sorry to intrude, but that literally made me laugh out loud :D

Backfired on a group on my campus. Their whole rush was Oz themed and it didn't go over well with the PNMs at all.

I may get flamed for this, but Wizard of Oz? I know it works for some groups, but with all the different skits out there, do you really want something that's been overdone? Honestly, they should place that darned Wizard of Oz skit in a vault for a very, very long time.

Try to imagine putting on something that a PNM would WANT to see -- something unforgettable. If you ask me...Wizard of Oz = forgettable.

But hey, if you really want it, ask your Recruitment Specialist, if you have one.

What DO PNMS want to see?

I suppose whatever's hip and fresh with the 18-20 year olds.

That said, I'd ask an 18-20 year old.

I just looked at a Wizard of Oz skit script off the website. It's good and very well written and knowing which chapter it came from, I know it worked. That might not be the case everywhere else, though.

I wish we had skits for NPHC. They'd all be Fresh Prince of Bel Air, The Color Purple, and The Jacksons: An American Dream.

Couldn't there be a Good Times skit too?

I don't know why, but I that phone booth scene with Jermaine and Hazel Gordy keeps playing in my head.

Back in the day, I helped my chapter switch out the Wizard of Oz skit for a Chorus Line skit (which was new then and is probably as tired now as Wizard of Oz). Don't think you could adapt something current like Spring Awakening for rush nowadays.

Co-sign. I imagine Sex and the City skits are becoming hackneyed and tired as well. Be original, ladies!

It was on the Members Only portion of the Alpha Gam website. Being that it was on that side, and written by Alpha Gams for Alpha Gam chapters, I don't think it'd be approriate to share the script and idea with non-Alpha Gams.

Sorry.

you know, you do not have to totally revamp recruitment. if candyland was a great success for your chapter, keep it.

your chapter will save $$ by reusing props and decorations from last year(hopefully you saved them). if you want to mix it up a little, change the outfits that the girls have to get. this might not work for your campus, but candy colored scoop neck t-shirts, wearing those edible candy necklaces, lollipop name tags made from card stock, m and m's in your sorority's colors with "go" on half the m and m's and "xyz"(since i don't know what sorority you belong to) on the other half.

if you are determined to do the wizard of oz, try writing the skit yourself, or get a committee together and work on it together.
