What would you try if you knew you could not fail?

I was asked this the other day and wanted to know what some of you would try if you knew you could not fail?

cheerfulgreek 06-15-2008 12:13 AM

I would try bunji cord jumping. It looks fun. I was going to try it at the state fair once, but when it became my turn to do it, they gave me a form to sign. Concrete, bunji cord jumping and a signed form to me just don't mix. I decided not to. But yeah, it would be bunji cord jumping.

KSUViolet06 06-15-2008 12:35 AM

I would open my own bridal boutique or pursue a wedding planning career.

Were you talking about careers or just anything?

Really anything, that's just something that comes to mind for me.

AKA_Monet 06-15-2008 01:17 AM

Well aside from asking the question of "what is failure"? The one thing I would pursue if I knew I would not fail is entertainment industry--i.e. producing and directing...

tld221 06-15-2008 02:22 AM

i'd say failure, in the sense of "if i did this, it would work out successfully and how i want it."

what would i do? lots of things. some as simple as jump into a pool off a diving board (im really scared of heights, and really being suspended in air) and other things like open a restaurant, drag race, diet, become a motivational speaker, build my own house, invent the cure for AIDS...

its endless possibilities at 2am.

AGDee 06-15-2008 03:38 AM

Buy a lottery ticket <grin>

Seriously though.. there are also several things I would do. I would write a book. I would sky dive. I would start my own business, probably a cookie shop. I would find a cure for Crohn's Disease. Yes, endless possibilities!

catiebug 06-15-2008 09:19 AM

I would be with him again.

AOII4ME 06-15-2008 09:28 AM

Implement laws to govern the breeding of animals. ' Breeders' would have to meet required levels of knowledge, competency, ethics.

Dionysus 06-15-2008 09:58 AM

Being a good stand-up comedian.

pbear19 06-15-2008 10:46 AM

I would apply for a full-ride scholarship to the best local law school. :)

Second. Along with this..I'd bungee jump. I tried it in New Zealand, was on the edge twice and couldn't jump.

Benzgirl 06-15-2008 12:03 PM

Quit my job;)

chitownxo 06-15-2008 12:27 PM

Go to Harvard Law School.

Open a restaurant.

wolffootball37 06-15-2008 12:32 PM

Rush a fraternity! ;) (ill do it anyway though)

Um as of now, if i knew i couldn't fail because of some magic lamp or something, id take one of those test to test out of math and science for the rest of my educational career!
Sky diving is defiantly an option though! Id also write and direct an award winning movie!

AlwaysSAI 06-15-2008 12:32 PM

There are a few things I would do--

Send out demo tapes to record companies in Nashville, TN.
Sing the role of a character in a disney movie.
Make a christmas CD.
Sing in a Gap commercial.
Sing the lead in a rock band.
Have a pet pig.
Write an autobiography.

Leslie Anne 06-15-2008 01:29 PM

Have the body I want.
Have the mind I want.
Have the man I want.

And, of course, world peace. ;)

icelandelf 06-15-2008 05:59 PM

I would--

find a cure for cancer
open my own catering business
get rid of my kidney stones for good

This always makes me laugh when people don't specify things. First off, what cancer? Rat cancer? Dog cancer? Human cancer? Once you specify species, you need to specify which type: melanomas? pancreatic? lung? brain? myomas? lymphomas? cervical? What if you cured one that already had a cure? Second, what if you found a cure that caused something else, or a cure with a high death rate?

If I knew I couldn't fail? Prosecute "dubya" and some of his cronies for crimes against humanity.

icelandelf 06-15-2008 07:37 PM

sorry I offended you by not being specific. Human cancer. My uncle just died of hepatic cancer a month ago.

Do I need to be specific about the type of kidney stone I manufacture too?
FTR Cystine type stones.

ASUADPi 06-15-2008 09:03 PM

I would...

star on Broadway
write for my favorite television show
go to law school
get a powerball ticket (when it reaches 220 million :D)

'some of his cronies' could mean any number of people, as 'crimes against humanity' could mean any number of things in any number of courts. You might want to revise your post for utmost specificity, lest it make anyone laugh.

I have to be honest--I have never failed at anything I felt strongly about doing... Things that I have put all my mind and energy into, I have succeeded...

The things I have not done well on are things that have not interested me. If I could pick them back up, oneday and say--I want to do it--would I fail? Well, the way I see it now is my life path is to go in a direction of greater harmony for my own inner peace so that I can be an asset to this world... So, say I want to be a "nuclear physicist"--my reasons for wanting to be that are less than honorable and are diametrically opposed to that self-determination that my life is destined to go. Why try to separate things, than fusing them together?

The other things I do not like to do are things related to economy and business--I don't like those things, I hate learning them and I would fail if given a test for them. I admire folks who do pursue these things, there are some discussions we have and if a child I knew wanted to pursue this area, I would help them get there. But as for me--no...

Plus, I think the ONLY failure folks have in life, in general, is when they fail to act on their dreams...

well cancer, and clearly this is me oversimplifying, is caused by the abnormalities and transformations of cells, growing/duplicating faster, or in a way than they should. someone who is medically versed can answer this better, but i would think while there may not be a one-cure-fits-all fix, different types of cancer have common traits so their cures would be related.

and why specify? if icelandicelf had said "find a cure for breast cancer," one could easily argue, "well why not lung cancer? or skincancer?" what determines which cancer one would want to find a cure for? who ranks which is worth finding a cure for more?

(see how im nitpicking? yeah, thats kinda what youre doing.)

The International Criminal Court was specifically set up for dealing with "crimes against humanity" which can include war crimes. Some of his cronies would include the people that were specifically implicated in these crimes, and the full extent of who was involved and to what degree would not be known until investigated.

Good try...but nope! Unfortunately all cancers are different, and even cancers of the same type behave differently so no one cure works for everyone. But, since we are being hypothetical, I think leaving it to a cure for all cancers is fine! No need to specify when it's make believe anyway!:D

As for me, I'd move to Europe for a few years and live off of telerad. I'd come back in a couple years and get a real job in the states again.
