Website Idea's
Okay, So I've been working on the Delta Phi Nu website restlessly for the last week. I'm totally shot for idea's! Take a look, and tell me honestly what you think. Anything I shouold add, delete, change etc. NOTE: on the "About" page I haven't uploaded all of the member photo's and Information.

I know those are your sorority colors, but sky blue with white text can be quite hard to read. Maybe you could just do black text.

Get someone who knows what he or she is doing to proof-read and edit everything that goes onto the website. Bad grammar and poor writing don't make a sorority of college women look particularly good. Just the title of this thread and the short opening post repeatedly use apostrophes incorrectly -- a pattern I also see on your "Join Delta Phi Nu" page. (For example, "What about legacy's or Recommendations? - During Recruitment we do not consider legacy's or recommendations. Every girl is considered on a non-bias system." The word is "legacies," not "legacy's.") Sorry, but when I see writing like is on the webpage, I don't get a very positive image of the group. |
ACTIVITIES.
BARBECUES. BEACH DAYS. IDEAS. Sorry, but I just can't deal with this anymore. Are they teaching in schools that if it's a vowel or a vowel sound, you should use an apostrophe to make a plural? |
Do you want girls or women?

in college are they somewhere in between though? |

DARN! thanks to all of you, the site is down. crap.
|
haha. That's hilarious.
I was honestly wondered why legacies and recs mattered....they're a local just founded last summer. No one is old enough to have kids that may pledge..... Anyway. |

maybe Dells are allergic to BS grammar.

That's fine, don't feel bad :) I can't spell very well. My grammer is absolutly horrible! |
Any layout Idea's minus the "BS" comment would be nice lmao :)

Oh heraldry nightmare!
I thought crests weren't allowed to have the helmet in Canada because the helmet's reserved for the Sovereign? |

AND NO MORE FREAKING UNNECESSARY APOSTROPHES!!! |

Don't be sarcastic. Tone is not relayed well in online correspondence. Be about business. You are promoting your organization to others... strangers. Sometimes its better to take the good and be thankful and ignore the bad...completely...rather than emphasize it. Or, take it up with that person via PM.
Just a suggestion. WannaB3 |

OTW why don't you post the WHOLE message I sent to you ... or did you just decide to cut out the sentence I said after that? |

Oh wait. I'm sorry here it is word for word
"Hey OTW, What is your problem with me? And YES I have been working really hard. I do appreciate the great advice that you have given me. But unfortunatly you've rubbed off as a stuck up b*tch to me. And I KNOW that's probably not the truth because computers and writeing on threads can mix up sarcasim with hatred. Anyhow, I don't hate you. But your not make my sorority experience any nicer. If we ever meet in person I really hope it's not as negative as what has been shown to me on this forum. As for my grammer... yes ... it sucks! It suck monkey balls to be exact lmao! But this is a "forum". I would prefer to base my likeing or disslike of a person on their personallity, not their grammer skills. Take care, and please don't take it personally." |

Here it is again, just for her: http://i30.tinypic.com/1r6iow.jpg |
I never meant for you to take it as me calling you a stuck up b*tch. I apologize. I even said "And I KNOW that's probably not the truth because computers and writeing on threads can mix up sarcasim with hatred." I'm going to stop responding to all of your pokes because it feels as though no matter what I say to you your just going to stay mad with me.

I can read quite well, thank you. I was referring to Silmanarmo calling OTW a bitch in PM not assuming the other way around. I thought that was kinda unnecessary when my suggestion to Silmanarmo was to "be about business". Calling people bitches in any context is not business-like from anyone. RIF, Knight, RIF. maybe you should R my post again. WannaB3:o |

Some suggestions:
Pay for some cheap web space. The add at the top is really distracting. Don't have an intro page. Link directly to the home page. Try and have a more professional look to the website. Get rid of the guest book. Change "About" to "About Us" Have a separate page for questions then under "Join Us" like a FAQ page. Have the list of items on each page in the left column be links to anchors on the page. Put some sort of copyright on the bottom of every page, makes it seem more professional. Title the pages, right now they are like "New Page 3". Make some sort of graphic for the banner were you have: Loyalty ~ Knowledge ~ Perseverance |
You're getting there. I'm glad you changed your pictures-they are less punky. I'd leave the cup out of the third founder's picture. It gives the wrong message-unless you are looking for a drinking club. You still have some gramatical errors.
|
Just curious...did you know that Delta Phi Nu is a sorority that has been in Austin,Texas since 1957?

Heh, interesting. At least there's no swiping going on here (a la Theta Nu Xi & Phi Nu Xi)! |
Please take brimock & Raggedy Ann's suggestions above, they're good ones, and for the love of god, please read and digest this information: http://www.wikihow.com/Use-Apostrophes
You are in college now, you must know when to use an apostrophe to indicate something plural versus something possessive. Your misuse of it is much too frequent to just blithely slough off to being on a forum, one can only assume you really don't know the difference and in many cases, spell check may not catch it for you. These are rules you need to know to function as an adult and eventually, as a professional. |

Usually when you quote a post, you're directly responding to that post. If you're responding to Silmanarmo, quote her. |
