Remember that Kappa Gamma at SCSU thread?
Since it's quiet and boring here at work...
You may remember this thread. James ended up closing it, stating it was only temporary. Anyway, I was curious to see how the girls were doing. They aren't listed on the SCSU Greek Life page or the Office of Student Life page. Their MySpace page also appears to be defunct. I wonder what happened? Are they now known as something else? Did the entire sorority just fold? I wonder if KGSCSU will come back to enlighten us? |
Tried to research it....the most I found was this.... scroll down: http://www.southernct.edu/clubs/beta...ge=our_sisters

http://www.southernct.edu/clubs/tke/content.php?p=links
"Kappa Gamma Sorority: Kappa Gamma is our sister sorority here at Southern CT State University. This is their official website with information, event schedules, and pictures." But Forbidden You don't have permission to access /clubs/kappagamma/ on this server. |

ETA: What is an "Active Inactive" Sister? http://web.archive.org/web/200602070...ster+list.html |
Quote:
TKE doesn't have any "sister sorority." Especially not a KKG rip-off. They might be bff's on that campus, but they shouldn't use that term. |
Feeling froggy? Go ahead and tell them: http://www.southernct.edu/clubs/tke/....php?p=contact

Thanks though. |
You're welcome.

ETA: They are active alum. For instance, one active alum "graduated from SCSU in May 2004 with a BS in Biology with Secondary Education certification. Continuing at SCSU for a Masters in Bio." The "active inactive" is just a tacky wording. |

Still, "Inactive Active" would seem like a better way to word it, lol. |
I started the thread so obviously I remember it. In an email I recieved back when i made the thread the member whose never actually posted on gc just made an acct to email me said
"Hey, I am am alum of a sorority at Southern and I saw your post. Kappa is currently changing their image to break away a bit from the KKG mold, however due to events in the Fall of 2007, they will not be actively recruiting or taking in new members until the fall of 2009." However I do not know what caused this but most of the sisters on facebook no longer say they are affiliated with KG and the facebook groups that were posted no longer exist. |

Well since they cant take new members for another whole academic year and the active sisters are 25 at most I wonder if they will even be around when they can start recruiting again???

Based on the PMs I've exchanged with her and the stuff she left here, something just doesn't seem right with scsugirl.
Of course I could be wrong, but my suspicions are usually correct. |
Something seems strange about this to me, too.
From scsugirl's very first post months ago to the posts in this thread. |
I know what it is.
She is sofa king we todd ed. |

'k, that took me a while. ;) |
well, regardless of whether she's a freakadeakadingadoo, Kappa Gamma was still copying KKG and were still swingers in their profile. If you really want to "revamp your image" you take all that isht off the net so people don't keep seeing it.

She first came here a few months ago as a person 'looking to rush' and now she all of a sudden shares an old PM from a Kappa Gamma? Then I post about how a local on my campus uses young alums to rush after not holding rush for a while...and she posts something like that up there? It just sounds really strange and suspicious. |
She or he isn't who she or he is claiming to be.
I felt that months ago when she or he first came here. It was too convenient for this KG situation to play-out the way it did. And it's too convenient for her/him to pop up in this thread when it hasn't posted in other threads. |
So yes im bringing this back from the dead. . . However its with decent cause. . . Apparently Kappa Gamma is no longer in existence at Southern Connecticut and the members of Kappa Gamma are now members of a new local sorority called "Kappa Delta Xi" Apparently this time instead of taking off a letter they decided to add one to the name of yet another long standing organization. . .

FWIW, let's just hope these girls learned their lesson. It's one thing to have similar names, but we don't know if they're stealing existing sorority symbols. Can't wait to find out! |
I cant either thats why i put it up here so the super GC'ers could research it because ive found nothing on google facebook or myspace. . .

Maybe things will pop up again once Fall semester begins. |

ETA: Of course it's different if they take symbols, colors, etc. (yes, I read this thread before). That's not what I'm talking about. |

Greek life at southern in general annoys me for the way they handled a hazing incident with a NPC group back a few years ago :o |

And why are you coming to a greek board for "help" (to apparently continue to destroy this group you have a beef with) when greek life at your school "in general annoys" you? |
Thanks for the heads up, Alias. It'll be interesting to see what develops in the fall. I don't have a problem with their letters being Kappa Delta Xi as long as they don't rip off KD symbols like they did with KKG. We'll just have to wait and see.

Unless they're going to go by "KD" for a nickname, change their colors to green and white, and paint nautilus shells on the sides of their cars, I wouldn't worry about it or think they are trying to "rip off" KD.
