Mall Food

I was at the mall the other day and stopped at Pretzel Time to get some pretzel bites with a side of nasty orange liquid cheese. Normally I hate the liquid cheese stuff, but it goes so well with the buttery pretzel bites.

What food(s) do you get when you go to the mall? What place in the food court do you have to stop at?

Dippin' Dots!

ComradesTrue 05-14-2008 10:31 PM

Give me Auntie Anne's any day of the week over Pretzel Time.

Dionysus 05-14-2008 10:34 PM

Sbarro's, Auntie Annies, Sarku, and Chick-fil-a.

KillarneyRose 05-14-2008 10:34 PM

Yes, Auntie Anne's rules the entire realm of mall pretzels. Pretzel Time? Not even on the same page as the Auntie! Now, for something to drink with my pretzel, I go to Rita's italizn ice and custard and get black cherry italian ice layered with vanilla custard. Mmmmmm!

tld221 05-14-2008 10:37 PM

the Tang from Pretzel Time = love.

Wok N Roll and all those "put a bunch of food on a plate" with chicken = greater love.

Dionysus 05-14-2008 10:42 PM

OMG, welcome back!

I'd give my big right toe to have a Raising Canes over here.

No need to rub it in, thanks. ;)

VandalSquirrel 05-15-2008 12:22 AM

Cinnabon and Hot Dog on a Stick

TexasWSP 05-15-2008 12:29 AM

Not gonna lie.....I really don't think Raising Canes is all that it's cracked up to be. I've had it four of five times and just can't grow fond of it. In my opinion, the chicken fingers are bland. Never had them where I thought they were adequately seasoned. The sauce makes up for it some I guess.

christiangirl 05-15-2008 12:33 AM

Auntie Anne's for some cinnamon sugar pretzel sticks. I know it's all bread, butter, and sugar, but the smell alone makes it worth the calories. :o Other than that, Cinnabon (for a Mochalatta Chill) and Panda Express (which seems to be in a lot of food courts now).

ktbug10474 05-15-2008 02:04 AM

we have an orange julius/dq in our mall

but my favorite stop in the food court is smoothie king. they have AMAZING smoothies. i think they're better than planet smoothie.

Have you ever tried dipping them in caramel? Yummy.

Johnny Rockets has awesome chili cheese fries.

DSTRen13 05-15-2008 08:25 AM

There's a pizza place at Perimeter Mall in Atlanta that is really good. Best mall food ever, mostly because it doesn't taste like mall food at all.

There's a local coffee place in the mall here that I like a lot, with tasty coffee, plus ice cream and sandwiches and things :)

ForeverRoses 05-15-2008 08:40 AM

Aunt Annies and the place that makes those Phily Cheesesteak sandwich things with the fresh lemonade and french fries.

My hasband likes to do the food court stroll, where you walk past all of the vendors and look at their food as if you are trying to decide what to get. usually they will ask you if you want a sample, so he claims that he saves money by just eating all of the samples.

RU OX Alum 05-15-2008 10:52 AM

the Great American Steak and Fri Company

also, there was this one pizza place but i can't think of the name of it

and i agree that auntie annie' s is better, but they don't have those here, so when i have to go to the mall, i will sometimes get pretzel time

but there really is no comparrison between the two. One's really good and the others just allright

TrojanWoman 05-15-2008 11:41 AM

Hot Dog on a Stick . . . you can't beat their lemonade!

Panda Express for orange chicken!

honeychile 05-15-2008 12:15 PM

Auntie Anne's with the caramel = heaven! Throw in an Orange Julius, and I'm happy as a clam.

KatieKate1244 05-15-2008 12:21 PM

The Great American Pretzel Co. for a pretzel, extra salt. My mall has taken out most of the food court so there's very little left.

NutBrnHair 05-15-2008 12:25 PM

Chick-fil-A

DaemonSeid 05-15-2008 12:28 PM

How do you all eat Chick Fil - A???

uuggghhh

CBU Jeff 05-15-2008 12:36 PM

The Great American Cookie Co. is my favorite...What can I say....I have a sweet tooth lol

ISUKappa 05-15-2008 12:41 PM

Pretzelmaker plain pretzel with cheddar cheese sauce and Cookies, Etc./TCBY. Yum!

Outside of Sbarro and Panda Express, all the other food court places are chain places you can eat at anywhere (Taco Bell, Subway, MaidRite). Come to think of it, our food court is pretty crappy and our mall is tiny. Hmph.

RU OX Alum 05-15-2008 01:00 PM

slightly off topic question:

Are all of the Great American (insert mall food) Company companies the same chain/org./company?

epchick 05-15-2008 01:58 PM

Most of our malls have the chain food restaurants (Sonics, Subway, etc.) but i like:

Hot dog on a stick's lemonade
pretzelmaker's italian pretzel
Sbarro's ok
Steakpedoes are pretty good, especially the pizza one
and here is a "japanese" type place called the Miyaki Bowl that had some bomb ass spicy chicken teriyaki.

33girl 05-15-2008 02:03 PM

Orange Julius
Sakkio Japan
Manchu Wok
The Potato Sack

...in other words, food that would kill you if you ate it every day. But once in a while it's fun.

Scully 05-15-2008 03:31 PM

Auntie Anne's....definitely! Regular pretzel with salt, no butter. And if I want to be really bad, Burger King. I'm very sad they closed the Roy Rogers in the mall :(

Roy Rogers Strawberry Shortcake w/ warm biscuits = BEST.

sjsoffer 05-15-2008 05:46 PM

Our mall just got a sushi place that's surprisingly good. I was so worried to try it but it was yummy!

ktbug10474 05-16-2008 12:08 AM

Great American Steak and Potato Company

best fries ever

tld221 05-16-2008 12:26 AM

i think theres a place called Ranch 1 that has these fries with ranch dressing (or cheese, whichever you prefer) and bacon. OMGZ.

http://www.musikizme.com/wp-content/...esefries-1.jpg

(they sell them at Outback Steakhouse too, FWIW. and apparently #1 in the worst foods you can eat)

Alpha Sig Scott 05-16-2008 11:22 AM

Sarku Japan

Love the chichen teriyaki.

I agree too depending on where you are...i am from La and i have had it in other places where they do not season it at all.....i guess it may be location..but i LOVE it otherwise

CBU Jeff 05-16-2008 11:54 AM

Being a struggling graduate student..I thoroughly enjoy the free samples of honey chicken

I used to be a fan, but I went to one about a year ago and had a terrible experience. Haven't been since.

The Prudential Mall in Boston has a fantastic food court (Pizzeria Regina, etc.); anyplace else, I just go for the shortest line.

cutiepatootie 05-17-2008 06:45 PM

Auntie Annes in a heart beat! next cinnabon and than panda express and of course depending how i feel either orange julius or a hot dog on a stick lemon-aide

AlphaFrog 05-18-2008 01:15 PM

We have a Cajun place in the Concord Mills mall that has the most awesome Burbon Chicken. Other than that, I generally avoid mall food.
