Deadliest Catch
I tried searching for an old thread, but couldn't find one. (I suck using the search.)
Please tell me there are other Deadliest Catch fans on GC. This is a guilty pleasure of mine, and I am so glad it is back. |
I will sit and watch that show for like, hours. It's pretty much addicting.
|
Me too! It is one of those shows that I can watch over and over.
Last night was apparently the highest rated episode ever of Deadliest Catch! I was laughing at the Hansen brothers "Last Man Standing" competition. Dangerous, but funny as hell. |

Have to catch re-run. |
I only recently started watching it but thanks to my hubby & father-in-law, am catching up on the previous seasons.
|
I like this show, and Ice Road Truckers! One of the boats used in Deadliest Catch is apparently based on Lake Union in Seattle, so says the operator of the in-city tour we took this summer with my bf's parents.
ETA: I actually just looked up the bios of the crews featured on this season, and it turns out ALL of them are based in Seattle. I guess it shouldn't surprise me...we love our boats and seafood! |

And I was laughing at Sig cussing out the other guys for being stubborn as he refused to give in first. |
I love this show, my fiance and I DVR it! I can't watch this week's episode until he gets back though, boo!

This is a great show and it's nice to see how they make their living! It was kind of sad at the beginning of the season where they show the "memorials" of the all the people who have died at sea.

Seeing Johnathan's (that's the captains name, right?) reaction and how everyone had soo many emotions going through them was touching. |
This is yet another one of those shows that I could watch forever.
|
My favorite show was when Sig's men (I can't remember the name of the boat, NorthWestern maybe?) welded the Corniela Marie's pot together, and put underwear inside of it! That was funny!

BUMP FOR TONIGHT'S SHOW
May 20, 9:00 pm
(60 minutes) Deadliest Catch Seeking the Catch TV-14 (L) As the King Crab season ticks down, mass amounts of stinging jellyfish in unfilled pots add insult to injury. The Cornelia Marie faces losing their captain for good. Crew mistakes onboard Northwestern could be costly. |
I can't believe this thread hasn't picked up since May. Surely I can't be the only one who still watches The Deadliest Catch?
I love seeing Phil interact with Josh and Jake. You can tell they're all hard asses who don't like to show emotion, but they all seem to manage to do so. It was hard seeing Phil in a hospital gown and not in his Captain's chair! I can't wait to head off to the crab buffet again! |

Darn it! I missed it last night. I wanted to find out what happened to Phil. I was so worried about him. Did anyone watch "After the Catch?" I loved the Coast Guard pilot.
Anyone else crave crab legs after watching the show? |
Quote:
I too loved the Coast Guard pilot in After the Catch. She does not look like a CG pilot at all...but she sure knows how to keep her cool so she can save lives! I was worried about Phil too. But don't worry, I won't go too much into it since some of you haven't seen it yet! And yay for lots of fresh greenhorns! |
I haven't watched "After the Catch" yet, but I did watch last night's DC episode. I think Phil is one very lucky man. Most people die from blood clots like that, but he lived after waiting so long to get medical care for it. Talk about an angel on his shoulders watching over him.
I am glad Moi is gone. But thought it was sad that while the captain was talking about firing him, he was saying how he wants to do better on the ship. At least Keith didn't drag it out. Liking the new Greenhorn on the Cornelia Marie, but the other one on the North American (I think) needs to quit his bitching. |
Quote:
Something tells me this isn't the last we see of Moi. And I agree with you about the North American's greenhorn. He seems so...tubby. |
Quote:
I'm looking forward to seeing more of that greenhorn, Cooper. I liked his floppy hair. |

I look at Matt (?) on the Northwestern and even though he comes off as an asshole sometimes, I can't help but feel sorry for him. I'm under the impression that he's in recovery for substance and/or alcohol abuse, and I can only imagine how hard it must be to be working and alone with your own thoughts all the time. |
Did anyone catch the Season Finale last night?
It'd totally suck if Phil's (Cornelia Marie) done with fishing forever. :( |

We missed it! My nephew came in and turned to cartoons and my mom let him. My mother watches this show like no tomorrow. When I finally get hooked, I got punked by a 9yo. It really got me when the doctor told that guy "This [lung damage] didn't happen on the boat. This could be pneumonia or emphysema from smoking..." Talk about a wake up call. |
I hope this isn't the end for Phil. I love him!
Still, the Hillstrand's are my favorites and Mike digs Sig the most. This has to be one of my top shows ever. It's great to watch the interactions between the men. Also, I too felt bad for the guy who listed his PO as a reference. He's probably trying hard to change his life around and this was a way to do it. I sure hope it worked out for him. |

I teared up when they did the end montage of the crew from the Alaskan Ranger and how 47 men went into the water when the vessel went down and only 42 were rescued. :(
|
I went to see the band that I see every week, and they played Dead or Alive tonite and my first thought was "I need to watch Deadliest Catch" and then they mentioned it. I've never been this obsessed with a tv show.
|
I love, love, love this show! My husband got me hooked. (Get it, "hooked"?)
I never complain about the price of crab in restaurants. If anything, after seeing what these guys go through, I think it should cost even more! |

My husband and I have been watching this show ever since it started. Anyone else noticed that it seems like the Hillstrands are a nice group and really seem to try and have fun with one another? They seem to smile and laugh a lot more than other crews.

The Hillstrands, the Harris boys on the Cornelia Marie...even Edgar and Sig on the Northwestern. But you're right, when you compare the Hillstrands to the other families, they just don't yell at each other too much. It was neat to see that one After the Catch episode and the captains talked about what they do when they're not fishing. Andy raising horses didn't seem too out there as Phil and his building bird feeders! |
i loved those bird feeders!
