What are your little quirks?

This kind of goes with some of the other topics on the board. What are the little things that you do that people joke around with you about?

Like, I always get cracked on because I ask weird questions. I also watch kiddie shows and movies, like Arthur on PBS, and non-stop Crocodile Hunter. I also make up little sayings, and for awhile, my retort to anyone else's wise crack was "I will so kill you!"

What are everyone elses sayings or quirks that others joke about?

(Please someone reply so I don't feel stupid-this is the first time I've posted a topic! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif)

Haha yeah - I can be really random sometimes - that my friends are like "Haha you are so goofy Car!" The prob is, is that I don't mean to be funny, that in the end, I'm thinking, "How was that funny?," while all my friends are dying laughing.

I also say "like" and "hella" a lot.

I watch Animal Planet like it is going out of style. I love it. It could be the dumbest show in the world, but if there is some form of animal on it, I will watch it. I also have that random comment problem. I usually say what I am thinking about and sometimes it is really weird, or makes no sense at all, but I say it anyway. I also really enjoy making very strange noises in a crowded mall. When people look at me I give them a look or say, "Hey, what are you looking at. It is legal to make weird noises in a crowded place. Mind you own business!" And then I make another really weird noise. Screwing with peoples minds is really fun. Well pretty much anything that makes me look retarted I enjoy doing. Like the other day, a friend of mine and I pulled into an extreemly busy gas station. We stopped short of the pump and acted like we ran out of gas. We made a huge production about pushing his jeep to the pump. We even had several people help us push. Then when we got to the pump we took the jeep out of neutral and drove off without ever pumping any gas. Ok, I'm weird.

Wow - that's crazy because I do that too. I'll just being thinking about something random - fire off a question - and suddenly everyone is laughing. Oh well, I'm trying to embrace my weirdness. Otherwise the world would be too boring.

Newbie, also I was told while travelling in Europe that their favorite thing to make fun of us for is the way we always say "Like, you know, i mean" over and over.

I am the king of practical jokes. Two weeks ago I attended a christining at a cathiolic church with my friend beth (it was her niece) Beth is always telling me how we are going to hell for our wickedness. Well, I was ahead of her as we entered the church and I had a small film canister and it had some crushed dry ice I had gotten from the grocery store. As I entered the church, I opened the canister in one hand and dumped the dry ice in the holy water as I dipped my hand in it to do that cross thing you christians do. So by the time beth (who was right behind me) put her fingers inthe holy water, it was smoking and bubbeling. She freaked out and really thought it was something to do with her. I played it up for a bit and then let her off the hook. Everyone keeps telling me I am going to burn in hell for that stunt. I thought it was funny, and no one else really saw. There was only about 20 people at the service. Hahahahhhaha!

juniorgrrl 07-13-2001 12:52 AM

I love kiddy shows, too. I used to be into the Teletubbies. I even have stuffed Laa-Laa and Po http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I have angle-cut bangs that sometimes cover my left eye, and my friends tease me about it. I don't care, I *love* my haircut!

Coming from a roman catholic family and being a rather...ahhh...independent child, I am dying! This is maybe one of the greatest pranks I have ever heard! Man, mad props. If I were there, I would have laughed myself retarded!

LeslieAGD 07-13-2001 08:20 AM

I quote movie lines and often recite the lines along with the movies I am watching. This drives my sisters/friends/family crazy!

gammazetagrl 07-13-2001 02:31 PM

I say "whatever" and "like" a lot too. I change purses everyday, and when I go to the mall I just end up buying something even though my friends and i are there for a movie or something else.

I like girly movies like Center Stage and the guys at work tease me about it all the time. I also have a thing for cheesy, old love songs. I have like this cd compilation that I put on when I chill...reminds me of childhood!

And I have the biggest addiction to Hello Kitty stuff. WHenever we pass by a Sanrio store I JUST have to come in.

SSS1365 07-13-2001 03:24 PM

I say "like" a lot and my boyfriend likes to tease me about it. I can also be a bit of an airhead.

Example: We're in a Chinese restaurant, and my big sis reads her fortune. "There are great surprises in store for you." She pauses and then adds, "in bed." Totally being serious, I say, "Does it really say in bed?"

Yeah I really got picked on about that one. I also watched a movie the other day where this guy has flashbacks... some scenes are in the present, but most are in the past. My comment... "Those two women look an awful lot alike" when actually they're the same person.

And my childish addiction is all things Snoopy.

Eghh, that sounds like me a lot too....I tend to take things pretty literally sometimes, which makes for good entertainment, or so I'm told http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif !

Honeybee 07-14-2001 12:02 AM

My friends alwys tease about brushing my hair. I ALWAYS do it...I can't help it though, I hate when it gets tangly. So whenever any sisters need a brush they ask me first. I have like a million of those cute, small ones in my purse. Also, I am really bad at directions even though I have lived in the same state my whole life...so I always get teased about getting lost. Someone has to be in the car with me if I am going some place new because I'll get lost if someone doesn't tell me where to turn...it can be quite interesting!

crazyleggedsigma 07-15-2001 10:15 PM

Haha-

I take FOREVER to eat. I mean, seriously. I have gotten used to cold food. When we go out to eat, everyone makes me decide and tell the waiter when he takes the drink orders so I can get a head start. I will never hear the end of it. Even though the head table eats first at wedding receptions, I'm sure they'll have to wait on me to finish to cut the cake. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

That is annoying if you have never seen the movie before. After that, it is funny reciting lines in front of people who haven't seen it.

I had a problem where for three months I kept saying the phrase 'AH CRIECKY' from the Crockadile Hunter. My co-workers were about to shoot me if I didn't shut up. So, I suppose my quirk is overusing phrases.
I also have this problem with turning simple stories into 1 hour long sagas. LOL.
Oh well, I just like to tell all the details.

Miami1839 07-30-2001 08:21 PM

I used to say like, whatever, a lot and you know. A lot of my brothers have certin quirks in the things they say. Sometimes that went a long with their nicknames too LOL One of my brother used to say A LOT and it was something that we all kided him about. There are many times I was kided about certin beta stuff LOL. Well, one time I was in the back seat of one of my brothers cars at 2 am in the morning and I was starved after a night on the town. So I kept on saying the word burger. O well. Gotta love those college days. ha ha.

I have a tendency to talk back to the TV.. but not just your usual, bitching out characters or anything. For instance, there was a medicaid commercial on and the lady said something like "I"m marjorie Smith" and i said "Hi marjorie" or I'll make comments to what they say like "oh is that true??".. I thought I was alone until one day I was at my freind Alicia's house first semester of our senior year and we were watching TRL and LFO's "Summer girls" came on, and u know in the beginning he goes "do u remember"? Well this is what happened:
Rich (singing): "Do you remember?.."
Alicia: "umm, not really"
Rich: "Do u remember.. that time last summer"
Alicia "OH YEA!! now i do"
I was dying of laughter!! I was like "i thought I was the only one!" I guess it came from us both being only children and would talk to anyone (or anything hahahahaha)..and yes, y'all can say that i'm officially retarded lol

Wow Lifesaver, nothing brightens up one's day quite as well as making fun of the things other people hold sacred. Maybe next time you could invite an Orthodox Jew to dinner and sprinkle some bacon bits on his food when he's not looking http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif

And no, I'm neither Catholic nor a tighta$$ in case anyone is wondering!

THIS IS THE FUNNIEST FUNNIEST STORY I'VE EVER EVER HEARD. I need to try it (fellow Catholic here) http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif hehehehehehehe

I have an annoying habit of taking sips with my pinky up...and everyone always makes fun of it.

I don't know why, but I also tend to chew the tip of the straw when drinking out of a fountain cup. If I don't chew it, I'll at least bite it so it gets flat.

I also have a habit of reciting movie lines and song verses and it'll happen out of the blue. It's usually stuff that I can't get out of my head. It annoys the heck out of my co-workers and friends because it gets stuck in their heads too. Like yesterday, I kept on reciting the "BRR..IT'S COLD UP HERE" cheer from Bring It On. It began to annoy even me for a while.

I say "That's beautiful" a lot. Mostly when I'm being sarcastic and something really sucks or is too funny for words.

SigmaChiCard 02-19-2002 03:00 PM

Yeah Life,
also as a catholic, I've got to say that was awesome...you probably are going to burn in hell for it....but it just might have been worth it ;)

GreekLetterGirl 02-19-2002 07:18 PM

Haha some of these are just too funny ....
I do alot of them some of my catch phrases are
mmm not so much feeling that , or not so much a propent of that...
I also have this habit of listening to one song on repeat at top volume in the house and then leaving with the song on...

i am sure i have more but that is just the top few!!!
:)

amycat412 02-19-2002 07:41 PM

you know ends almost every sentence I say, no matter how hard I try to stop it!

CLEARLY is a biggie w me too.

Bridget3D 02-19-2002 08:03 PM

Several months ago our chapter and a neighboring chapter did a trust walk in the middle of nowhere.
We were deep in the woods and it was very quiet and pitch black, then suddenly my cell phone rung!
I was like, "Hi mom, we are in the middle of a trust walk ritual. Can you call me back?" :o

My advisor and president has never let me live that down. They tell all of the new pledges and even sisters from different chapters that story.

SigkapAlumWSU 02-19-2002 08:42 PM

I have to have something in my mouth. No, I'm not trying to be all weird, I am just always popping gum, or breath mints, or candy, or something. I'll chew on pencils, all sorts of things. Getting my tongue pierced helped some, but now that I quit smoking, I'm back to popping mints!

Shelacious 02-19-2002 09:02 PM

I eat very slowly when I’m at restaurants--an hour later I can easily still have food on the plate—and still eating! I eat normally home alone.

I also break out into spontaneous song. Although I try to control it, I can literally think of a song for almost every sentence uttered by someone I'm speaking with!

I'm also constantly tucking my hair behind my right ear...I especially do it if I'm nervous.

Finally, I can talk about one topic and be on two new ones within a 5minute span. I sometimes speak in complete nonsequitters!

Ok, I'm really odd. But I like it! :D

ADPiSweety 02-19-2002 10:10 PM

Out of all my friends I can say that I am the only one who watches Golden Girls, and anything on Disney. Usually they say "Karynn aren't you too old for that?" NEVER! I love it! =) They are always making jokes. "Oh don't listen to her, she doesn't know what she's talking about, she watches golden girls." lol hehe. Goodness! =)

Also, my friend Tiffany always complains about how slow I eat too! I have to agree with some other people. I don't know what it is, I just have to take my time...Actually now that I look at it, I'm usually the one talking during dinner, thats why it takes me so long to eat.

LexiKD 02-19-2002 10:55 PM

I have a Martha Stewart complex. I want everything to be perfect if I do it...from plating food to arranging flowers...crazy I know!
