New Candle Pass - 4 April 2008

Since we have more than a few newbies, this is how is works: I've lit the Candle, and will post part of a song traditionally used for Candle Passes. The next sister to read it will copy the candle (by quoting my post, and erasing everything that isn't between the ) and "sing" either a continuation of the song, or another one used for Candle Passes.

The Lucky Sister for Whom we're passing the candle will "blow it out" at the appropriate time (read: When she feels she's kept us waiting long enough!). So, here we go:

Remember your ADPi girl
Remember when she's away
Remember she's all you've wished for
And close to you, She'll always stay!

ADPi will always love you
Though you're his sweetheart now
Congratulations, and all best wishes,
And may the rest of your dreams come true.

I love the pin you let me wear,
I love the Greek that's written there.

(I didn't know the other songs!)

It only takes a spark to get a friendship growing...
And soon all those around will warm up in it's glowing...
That's how it is with ADPi, once you've experienced it,
You want to sing, it's fresh like spring, you want to Pass it On....

(Or something like that.)

Little ADPi like a gem you are
I believe you must have been a star
When your heart is bound
Sadness there is none
Shining bright as diamonds
ADPi we're one

Alpha Delta Pi is a sisterhood
You can trust in it always
You can have it for a lifetime
You can have it always

Always, always
You can trust in it always
Always, always
You can have it always

(BBelle - my first one was unique to my chapter, I'm pretty sure :))

I wish for you my friend, this happiness that I have found
You can depend on us, it matters not where you are bound
I'll shout it from the mountaintop, I've come to ADPi
It's given me, the love you see
and now I'll pass it on

This is the THIRD time around!

I love the pin you let me wear;
I love the Greek that's written there;
I love the violets, flowers of spring;
I love the message that they bring.

I love the diamond and clasped hands;
I love the best pin in the land;
I love to wear it close to my heart...
For I love you,
Alpha Delta Pi!

The Official FOURTH time around!

http://www.petloss.com/animcnda.gif

Gather 'round my sisters, and sing this tale with me
It tells about our sisterhood and how it came to be.
The story starts in Georgia, in 1851
Where clasping hands for friendship as a symbol had begun.

Violets are our flowers, our colors white and blue
And as we live from day to day, they help us to be true.
To all the Alpha Delta Pis wherever they may be
So come my sisters, join your hands for our sorority!

Sing with me, my sisters, and raise your voices high
We Live For One Another and For Alpha Delta Pi!
Sisters we will always be, our friendships hold us true
And may we always pledge our love to the white and azure blue!

WOW! This is a biggie! :D

I believe in Alpha Delta Pi
I believe that my sorority
Is more than a ritual, more than a symbol
That it is a way of life.

FOURTH time? At my school, rounds meant as follows: first = sisterhood, second = lavaleering; third = pinning; fourth = engagement; fifth = baby. Never saw one go around five times, though.;)

I think it is that order, except at my chapter, we didn't do a sisterhood round.... so: first = lavaleering, second = pinning; third = engagement; fourth = baby.

Sisters,
I'm very happy to announce that after 3 years of "trying", many types and doses of infertility drugs, 6 IUI's, and much soul searching and family discussion, my husband and I are finally EXPECTING a baby boy- through international adoption from Korea!
We are still in the paper work process and do not even know which baby will become our son, but technically we are expecting! At the end of April, we will be eligible for a referral, after we complete the 20 hours of training required. Our home study is already completed though, so that is the first step.
We chose Korea rather than domestic adoption for many reasons, chief of which my youngest brother was adopted from Korea as an infant.
We were #9 on the waiting list, last I heard. :) Once we do get the referral, it will still be another few months until he gets to come home due to immigration paper work. I'll keep you posted!

Just wait until you get a picture for the refrigerator!!! I'll never forget the day we got my daughter's pic. It was another 7 months before we could get her, but oh my goodness, oh my goodness, oh my goodness it was worth it!!!

What ages did you request??
(We requested ages three months to age 5. She was born in October, and we got her in July!)

Did I say how happy I am for you and your husband?:D

Anyway, I wanted to say many congrats! I am stoked for you :D

texas*princess 04-08-2008 08:29 PM

honeychile 04-08-2008 11:11 PM

Crash away, fellow Greek Chatters! We're all thrilled about babies!! ;)

adpi*violet 04-09-2008 10:05 AM

Thank you everyone!
We requested a baby. South Korea recently changed their international adoption policy in an attempt to get more Korean families to adopt domestically, so abandoned/relinquished infants are not available for international placement until they are at least 5 months old now. That is great for them and I highly support that policy. I just hope they can encourage more families to adopt than have in the past.
Anyway, our agency uses Eastern Social Welfare in Seoul and all the adoptable infants are placed in fosters homes, so even though we won't be getting him until a minimum of 8 months old (minimum 5 months for placement, plus minimum 3 months for immigration paperwork), he will be in a home environment.
And yes, BBelle- once we get that picture, not only will it be on our refrigerator, I'll be sharing it with everyone I know!
I bought myself a t-shirt from an online store specializing in adoption things. It says, "I'm in love with a child I haven't met yet. I am in the process of adoption. I am liable to break down in tears at any moment. Please bear with me until my referral comes!" That about sums it up.

Hopeful_Bubbles 04-09-2008 03:36 PM

Congrats!!! :D (And I think the online candle pass was super cute ;)) I have two, soon to be three, chinese cousins so I've had a little experience with the international adoption thing. That little boy is lucky to have you.

em_adpi 04-09-2008 07:38 PM

This is so exciting! Congratulations!

Our former children's minister at church adopted two beautiful little girls from china several years ago... they are extremely bright. I'm pretty sure they picked up English faster than some of the other little kids. :)

Congratulations Adpi*Violet!! I may be late, but the sentiments are still the same!! That is awesome!!!

Just an update

Hi sisters,
Just wanted to update you with what has been going on in our adoption process...
We are still "paper pregnant" meaning we have not received our referral for our baby boy yet. We are near the top of our agency's waiting list though, so I am really hoping for it to be soon- though of course that's what I've been hoping since the beginning of May! I have started a blog about our adoption journey. If you are interested in reading it/ keeping more up to date with what's happening, please PM me for the address.
Either that or if you have Facebook and are friends with me on there, you can see the link there.
Pi love to all!
