Only lame people use the term "uber". So, that makes you lame. |

Any other link using the term appeared to be skinhead or racist groups. Hmphf. Interesting. You're a class act, EW. |

Thanks for the link, nittany. Yes, that's what I had guessed.
Anyone else feel defiled just being on the same messageboard with this POS? I'm too tired right now to read the TOS. PLEASE tell me he's violated it and we can be done with him. |

bowandtoes,
I've noticed your last two posts in this thread have just been photos. Still trying to master the English language and you're a little unsure of yourself, eh? Hmm...you're in college, right? (or at least pretending to be?) |

Schools with honors colleges suck at life.

I can't believe I'm about to do this, but here goes:
I think Elephant Walk's comment was so OVER THE TOP as to be irony. Was it offensive? Yes. Was it meant to be taken seriously? I don't think so. He was obviously building on the earlier loafer comment, taking it to the outrageous level to be humourous. Kinda like Jonathan Swift and "A Modest Proposal", without the wit. I think I just defended EW, so now must go hit my head against a wall. |
Don't take everything so serious. You'll have a happier life.

You have to KNOW a Jewish person and HATE Jewish people to make antisemitic comments? Gone are the days when we could legally sterilize what were once considered the lowest common denominators of society. Thank God. But if we could sterilize idiots who unapologetically have the lowest level of understanding, you'd bypass the wait list. |

I could sit here and come up with all kinds of offensive and racist comments against just about every group known to man; I've written papers on the topic. I don't know any members of some of these groups and have no problems with them (I'm not even sure where I WOULD encounter some of these groups if I were to try to meet them). But I could still type up this crap and spew it all over this message board if for some reason I felt the need, and it would still be rude and offensive regardless of whether I felt any real hatred for the people or not. I'd have to at least feel disrespect and a lack of empathy toward these people I haven't met to type it in the first place ...

Holy shit you people are sensitive. He wasn't being freaking racist......you people sound like a bunch of prancing nancy Obama supporters.
He was commenting on the post by AlexMack who said that my shoes had to be at least 19th century to be "elitist". Obviously if I had a pair of jewskin shoes they would be in the neighborhood of 500-700 years old. |
They're being jerks just to be jerks. Leave them to wallow in their shallow pools.

If you take it within the context it was used I don't find it "racist", that's all. Nittanyalum......I'm not being a jerk.....and I'm not shallow. Stuff like that obviously doesn't offend me or get to me like it does others. I understand why it was said. I wish phikapskulls would come back. This thread was fun. |
Mac, come on, you know he used that specific term just to be obnoxious. I highly doubt he really has the historical context himself to in any way support using that word. I appreciate that you tried to diffuse it, but I think you also grasp the reality that there really is no need to use that term in standard discourse. He was most certainly just being a jerk and I wouldn't typically lump you in with his empty crassness, but you got lumped because you defended him. Water seeks its own level and beware, that guy portrays himself as a very shallow pool.

I understand you being upset and I am sorry. I was simply saying that I don't think he should have been immediately labeled a racist for using that example.....although it was probably a bad choice. |

Yes, and the Nazi's used their skin for lamps among other things.
I think what people find problematic is that his mind went there in the first place. If that is the first place that your mind goes (just like Mel Gibson with his anti-semetic harangue and Michael Richards with his racist tirade), that is problematic and you might really want to interrogate your ideas because such statements are callous and racist or anti-semetic (especially when said in jest, as though the persecution and torture of others could ever be funny), whether that was the intent or not. |

Good Lord. There are plenty of Obama supporters that love to call people racists for very silly reasons. I live in Austin.....the most liberal city on the planet......I see it all the time. |
