Greek Affairs Advisor

\

33girl 03-28-2008 10:39 AM

The Greek advisor (I use the term loosely) at our campus is a KDR and the grad asst is a Phi Sigma Sigma.

BabyPiNK_FL 03-28-2008 11:18 AM

Ours is a Kappa Sigma
His grad assistant is a recent alum initiate of Lambda Upsilon Lambda
and some of the other people who help him, but are in charge of other dept. are: Alpha Chi Omega, Pi Beta Phi, Sigma Phi Epsilon, and Alpha Omicron Pi and Sigma Sigma Sigma. They're an amazing group of people. And the AOII and TriSigma are home grown from our university!

bellwisdom 03-28-2008 02:56 PM

Our are a Lambda Chi, a Alpha, and a Chi O.

KSUViolet06 03-28-2008 03:24 PM

Our Greek Life advisor is a Delta Zeta (from St. Louis University) and her grad assistants are Phi Delta Theta & Phi Sigma Sigma.

ΑΓΔSquirrelGirl 03-28-2008 03:28 PM

Ours is an alum and an Alpha Gam.

AOII Angel 03-28-2008 03:30 PM

Ours was the best Panhellenic advisor ever. She is a Sigma Kappa, though, she never showed any bias towards the Sigma Kappa chapter on campus.

tld221 03-28-2008 03:31 PM

hey, question:

Do NPCs have only advisors from their greek affairs office or do you have additional advisors within your own orgs, perhaps from a graduate chapter or national HQ?

Most NPC chapters will have at least one chapter advisor, though some chapters are not lucky enough to have a lot of alum support. I am an advisor along with 6 other sisters for a collegiate chapter of AOII.

Some NPCs do have additional advisors/an advisory board. They don't have to be from the Greek affairs office...they can be faculty, other admin, whatever. Advisory board members sometimes have nothing to do with the school, they're just local, and sometimes they aren't even that local. It's usually the school that specifies that a member of the faculty must be the main advisor. Ergo, we sometimes have advisors that aren't members.

I hope that made sense!! :)

My campus had two Greek Life advisors.

One was a Kappa Sigma

The other was Pi Beta Phi

They were the only two that worked directly with Greek Life, but there were many others in Student Life that are Greek.

skylark 03-28-2008 05:06 PM

The "greek adviser" (who actually is an individual in charge of all student-organized groups, greek or non-greek) was a member of a local sorority on a campus with no Panhellenic system. This makes for an interesting dynamic when she is acting in charge of our Recruitment because she often just rolls her eyes when someone tells her what she is doing is against an NPC unanimous agreement or something. Fun times.

PeppyGPhiB 03-28-2008 05:18 PM

Pepperdine's current greek advisor came to the school after being asst. greek advisor at Auburn, but I'm not sure which fraternity he's in.

That's interesting, I bet you all had some interesting experiences.

joliebelle 03-28-2008 05:37 PM

Our greek advisor is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Our previous advisor is an Alpha Phi, but didn't show any preference for her Syracuse Triad sisters.

APhi4Ever 03-28-2008 05:46 PM

That's awesome joliebelle! Our alumnae chapter plans events with the Alpha Gamma Delta and Gamma Phi Beta alums in our area.

Tom Earp 03-28-2008 05:46 PM

College Advisor, somewhat new is an SAM, no chapter at our Un.

navane 03-28-2008 11:25 PM

Our Coordinator is a Kappa Sigma and the Asst. Coordinator is a Phi Sigma Sigma.

.....Kelly :)

Ilaria Ame 03-29-2008 12:59 AM

our campus is currently without a greek advisor, but the 2 guys who assumed the responsibilities (aka are sticking their noses in people's bizz...i'm a little bitter with how they're handling some things...) are phi beta sigma and omega psi phi. and the ex-advisor was theta xi.

BSUPhiSig'92 03-31-2008 06:48 PM

I am a campus Greek advisor, and I'm a member of Phi Sigma Kappa (no chapter on my campus though).

ECUJacob 04-01-2008 04:48 PM

Our Associate Vice Chancellor is a Fiji.
Our Associate Director (NPC) is Greek, but I don't recall what.
Our Assistant Director (IFC) is a Phi Kappa Psi.
Our Assistant Director (NPHC) is a Delta Sigma Theta.

flirt5721 04-01-2008 05:11 PM

Up until two years ago our Greek advisor was a AChiRho but he is now at Tulane
The current Advisor is a DChi

ISUKappa 04-01-2008 05:23 PM

When I was in school, our adviser was a Sigma Phi Epsilon. Currently, the adviser is a Pi Beta Phi.

epchick 04-01-2008 07:04 PM

Our Greek Advisor is an AGD from Akron, OH and the Greek Life intern is a Zeta Phi Beta.

DUKyleXY 04-03-2008 03:04 AM

Our Director of Greek Affairs at Iowa State is an alumna of the Pi Beta Phi chapter here.

Our Graduate Assistants:
Interfraternity Council-Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Wichita State (i think)
Collegiate Panhellenic Council-Delta Delta Delta, Iowa State (i think)
National Panhellenic and Multicultural Greek Councils-Sigma Lambda Beta, California somewhere

rufio 04-03-2008 03:54 AM

at ASU. no one knows what chapter our advisor is from. everybody hates her, and she pretty much hates greek life right back.

During rush, she pulled one of our paddles from our recruitment table because it had a picture of a Brook Hogan on it claiming that we were soliciting women for recruitment.

BigRedBeta 04-03-2008 11:38 AM

Ours is an alumnae of the AXO chapter on campus.

Her secretary was AI'd into Gamma Phi Beta several years ago.

AOE2AlphaPhi 04-03-2008 03:15 PM

Ours is a Phi Delta Theta.

I didn't even know Delta Zeta was ever on our campus! Very cool.

We have a new greek advisor this year, she's an Alpha Phi from University of Wisconsin, Madison. She was their chapter president a few years ago.
