QUESTIONS FROM A FUTURE ZETA HOPEFUL!

Hi Futuregreek,
Recruitment is different at each school, and since I'm sure you would like to keep that a secret until you get in I won't ask, but if you want to tell us if recruitment is competitive or not we might be able to help you there. As for hazing Zeta Tau Alpha is strictly no hazing. All panhellenic chapters have rules about not hazing. If you have more questions to ask about the new member period that would be good starter discussion questions for when you go through recruitment. Good Luck with Recruitment! |
thanks!
what kind of things are common as new members? .. i know there are laws, rules, ect. about hazing but it still freaks me out! .. zta is absolutely no hazing? ... what kind of things go on during pledge time? thank you! |

Focus on recruitment for now. The new member stuff will come later, if you receive a bid. |

And the biggest thing is: Go into rush with open mind, eyes and ears. You are already putting a major limit on your rush. |
im not asking about greek life in general. i already know all of that from the booklet sent out by the university im going to. i want to know specifically about zta, hence why i asked. im not limiting choices, im trying to find out about this one because i became interested. i never said "this will be the only sorority i will consider".

OP, you can learn all the basic public info. about any NPC sorority at their national website (in this case, http://www.zetataualpha.org). Unless and until you have a bid from a group and are pledged, that's about all the details you're likely to get. Good luck with rush in the fall! |

Girls, don't lie to this potential new member. We beat our pledges on a daily basis. Sometimes, we turn the lights off and play pong by making them walk back and forth naked while we throw rotting citrus we used in our last batch of hunch punch. |

I would review it if I were in your shoes.;) IMVHO no one here can hold your hand during rush or even before. |

What if this is a return, once again, of our favorite troll? Whom I did see on-line early tonight. |

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the same person. |

And you can guarantee that Greek organization don't pick their pledges based on on how they type on a thread on the internet? ORLY? Because you're a part of a Greek organization already? That's how you can guarantee it? Tell me about the different ways people can type on a thread on the internet. Can they type them in a box? Can they type them with a fox? Can they type them in a house? Can they type them with a mouse? Can they type them here or here? Can they type them anywhere? |

So if you're not Greek, how can you guarantee organizations do not pick pledges based on how they type on a thread on the internet? Bueller? |

He too is looking for answers that we can not provide. He too is seems to be looking for someone to hold his hand before, during and perhaps even after rush. Every group as their ritual, their secret, et al. No one here can, of course tell you those. Just as no one here can provide you with anything more than general information, general facts on general activities. No one here can tell you how a house rushes. How they think during rush. Or what happens afterwords. So why keep on asking very pointed questions after being told where to find the general answers?:confused: One answer is that you are scared; which is normal. Another is that you are a troll. Many others as well. As for you thoughts on/about cancer, many groups do very good works with many groups. I myself am a regular blood and platelet donor. Just today I gave a double. |

if this was your answer, then why keep posting ignorant comments such as the ones that have been posted over the last few hours. i wanted simple answers to my even more simplistic questions. im not scared, simply interested/curious. and as for the troll thing, is this a new thing for you? i think the last time i said anything about a troll was probably around the age of 8. sorry its still stuck with you. |

And you have yet to even try to correct your typing. And your comment on "trolls" is very odd given just about everyone over the age of 7 knows what the term means now. Add your "tone of voice" and you have given most people a rather good idea what you are. And if not, well we are unable to see you so we have to go by what you type and how you type it. |

As for anyone else, if anyone has some USEFUL information, please let me know. if not thank you to zetagirl for your HELP. as for this, you should take your own advice into consideration =) |

And just to give you some more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_posts As I said, most people on line today already know what one is. Trolls just to not admit to it. And one stops being real friendly when they get hit a few too many times. |

"...generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion" wow. sound familiar? and no, no one tried to offer advice like zetagirl. thanks again. |

futuregreek-
First let me say that I am happy you are going through recruitment. Joining a sorority was one of the best things I ever did. Second- I will re-state what most have said already: every school is different, every sorority is different, and even if you asked the Zetas at your school, they wouldn't tell you what to expect necessarily. Recruitment is a time for thinking on your feet. No one gets to know the questions before they go on a game show. I will tell you that the plege period for most sororities (that I know of), consists of New Member Education...you learn the history, founders, greek alphabet, ETC. The most hazing I went through was trying to find a white dress in FEBRUARY for initiation. Finding a white dress in the winter months = not easy. (and no, I didn't really consider it hazing). Third- The women will check up on you. Every Zeta I know is classy and they want classy ladies. Part of being classy is clean communication. It's just like a job. If you want the job, you better know how to speak and write well, even if it's something that doesn't seem important. TRUST ME, if they have 2 spots left and you and the other girl are the same as far as GPA, etc, and the only thing separating you is your grammar/typing/etc, you're going to be cut. Fourth- I KNEW where I wanted to be when I walked into recruitment (and for the same reason as you- the philanthropy)....The first day I cut the house I thought I would join because I just didn't mesh well with the girls there. I would have loved the philanthropy but I wouldn't have felt like I had SISTERS there. Good luck! I hope you find the home you're looking for. |
