RECRUITMENT SHIRTS/SORORITY SHIRTS

anyone got/heard of cute shirts or slogans for sorority shirts?

Please Share!

ΑΓΔSquirrelGirl 03-24-2008 10:07 AM

Not that they aren't hot in the baseball shirts but...not sure I'd want my girls dressing like that during recruitment. It's fine when it's buttoned up with jeans.

The dresses are cute, though, as long as everyone kept the boobies in. I reminded some of my girls that we're rushing girls, not guys. Most of them are going to be nervous sitting down and talking to you when your boobs are on display.

APhi4Ever 03-24-2008 10:19 AM

I wish I could pull something like that off and look that great.

gee_ess 03-24-2008 03:45 PM

I definitely vote "no" on those Kappa shirts. Are they promoting Kappa...or something else? Plus, this is not a look for every body style...

33girl 03-24-2008 03:57 PM

The ones on top look like terry cloth bathing suit coverups. Ew.

Re the baseball shirts, the one on the right looks fine, the one on the left looks like she just finished having sex and didn't have time to get dressed.

My thoughts exactly. Congratulations, you're hot, but do you want to look like a skank whore?

I think the answer was YES! UCSB isn't exactly a modest place. But that said, I don't think these girls were wearing these getups to recruitment parties...check out the wristbands.

gee_ess 03-24-2008 08:43 PM

Nervousmama - I think you might get some good ideas from the threads where people have posted bid day pics, etc. There are some cute shirts on there. Also, I think some panhellenic rules prohibit sororities from requiring their members to buy identical outfits (i.e. sundresses) so be sure to check on that.

AOE2AlphaPhi 03-25-2008 11:23 PM

If they have wristbands does that mean they're going to *gasp* drink in their letters? Uhoh... I know that my chapter has a rule that you're allowed only to wear letters if you're presenting yourself in a classy way, which definitely rules out the washcloth skirt girl.

Yeah this is definitely not recruitment. While drinking is a highly likely scenario, they might not be, since it is during the day (not to say that drinking doesn't happen during the day). Alpha Tau Omega at Maryland hosts a Virgin party (where they serve virgin cocktails) to raise money for the Hero Campaign. They have bands play, door prizes, games, etc. and you do get a wristband upon entry. It's a very popular event at Maryland. On the off chance that a UCSB fraternity is having an event like that, who else would they want to promote the event than scantily clad sorority women?

BabyPiNK_FL 03-25-2008 11:57 PM

i love the dresses-not so sure about the material. i also like the shirts-but i don't think i'd wear something like that with my sororities name, maybe if it's closed like the one girls...either way i think it's very cute. but don't get me wrong, i don't go anywear with my shirt open.

nittanyalum 03-26-2008 12:07 AM

And what I wish the girls would understand is that when you look like that, you don't have to look like THAT, you know what I mean? Wear your headband around your head like you're supposed to and not your waist, it's really ok to wear clothing that actually covers you but can still be cute and flattering.

lindz0722 03-26-2008 07:57 PM

A personal rule of mine for wearing clothes is that your sunglasses should not be bigger than your skirt.

I didnt say jussstttt recruitment, but sorority shirts/outfits as well.... I believe the baseball shirts was for some greekwide pool thing in sb.... so bathing suit attire was appropriate (not completely sure on the event other than it was an outdoors, swimming type event). Either way, i think the design itself is kinda cute.

Sorry to insult one of your sisters, but I'd be embarrassed if one of my sisters dressed like that. Yes she has a great body, thank God for that, because it would have looked terrible on someone with anything less, and I know that may be the look at UCSB, but really, what is she telling the world when she goes out like that, identifying her chapter no less?

ETA: If the picture was indeed from a pool/beach event, then that explains a lot! Attire like that is fine for covering up a bathing suit. If this is from a normal party, I think 33girl's assessment is pretty accurate:

Whatever happened to "if you can't say anything nice"?

Doesn't apply here.

FWIW, the criticism in this thread is NOTHING compared to some of the other stuff I've seen on GC. Nothing "mean" at all. Looks like the OP couldn't handle it.

look maryland, its california (lol). If you think a bathing suit coverup is bad, I hope your visit to southern california is short.

I took the pictures down because I felt 'violetpretty' was trying to defame two different panhellenic chapters. Please refrain from saying you would be embarassed if one of your sisters wore a swim suit cover up. That is rude. If you did not like the styles I like, I understand. Post cute sorority apparel you've seen on your campus. That is what this thread was intended to do.

GC is also a place to share opinions. If you can't take the heat...

SWTXBelle 04-06-2008 03:09 PM

Idea's what? Who is Idea? And what does she have??

There are well over 200 threads on GC, and instead of sharing a positive experience or opinion, you decided to bash on two chapters?

manners, my dear. manners.

As I said before, if you do know of a cute slogan or if you have seen a cute shirt design on campus, do share! Show me designs that you like.

SWTXBelle 04-06-2008 03:11 PM

I do not believe chapters were bashed.
An opinion was offered on a specific shirt.
When you ask for suggestions for shirts, it is possible that offered suggestions will be commented on by other posters.
One person's cute is another person's "skanky".

I understand but how could you not take "I'd be embarrassed if one of my sisters dressed like that", personally?

Anyway, I'm over arguing. let me know if any of you guys see anything cute on campus....

One girl on panhellenic team sent me this slogan for recruitment "Whatever the Letter, Greeks do it better!"

bueno? or no bueno? I kind of don't like it because it MIGHT intimdate pnm's

Read my posts, I didn't say anything about the dresses because I did not have strong feelings on them either way. In fact, I was only talking about one individual in one picture, and I'm sure you can figure out which one. I did not defame two chapters. Also, I am not the only one who expressed disapproval or made snarky comments, so I am not sure why you singled me out.

I wasn't criticizing someone for wearing a swimsuit coverup. If the baseball shirt and the microscopic skirt serve to cover up a bathing suit in a pool or beach party, then they ARE dressed appropriately. I had no reason to think that it was pool or beach related, since the picture appeared overcast and there was no sand or water in sight.

Because of the wristbands, I am assuming the picture is from some sort of party. I lacked the context cues to infer a pool or beach event, and assumed that it was just a normal party. I would be embarrassed to have a sister dressed like that at a normal party because her outfit screams "I am a sexual object" or "You don't need an imagination to picture me naked" or "My best quality is my hot body" or "I want to hook up/I just did". I hope you don't complain or wonder why sororities in general have a stereotype as sluts, because there's your answer.

I'm sure you think I'm some Puritan from the freezing cold Northeast. It gets pretty hot in the summer in Maryland (90-100 plus nasty humidity for at least a month) but we don't wear clothes like that. It gets even hotter and more humid and stays that way for longer in the deep South, and they don't dress like that either.

If you think this thread is mean or rude, clearly you haven't looked around the rest of GC very much.

You could have "Whatever the letters, we're all Greek together" which plays up the unity, rather than looking like Greeks think they are better than everyone else.

THOSE ARE SUCH CUTE DESIGNS! I wonder if they make some of them in tank tops instead of t-shirts....

Oh dear, I can't say anything if it's not positive! Like I said, I know that's how it is in Southern California, but my opinion still stands. Oldu, ITY? j/k :p

There was this one cute design but I can't remember where I found it. It was this line drawing in two colors of an owl and a tree (it was a Chi Omega shirt, but could work for Kappa, obviously). It looked very artsy, very Urban Outfitters. If I find it, I'll post it.

do let me know if you find it!

Also, does you're panhellenic council have a shirt of their own to wear for panhellenic meetings? Many Council's have pollo's... but i was wondering any council wears anything aside from the standard pollo.

A word of caution with some screen printed designs on tank tops...
My chapter got tanks to wear to the gym a few years ago. The idea was cute, it had a heart (our symbol) on it and said "Sigma Kappa, we'll make your heart race." There was a design on the front left chest and a larger design on the back. The problem was that the front left chest part was positioned awkwardly on and below your boobs, so if you weren't flat chested, it looked bad. The tank wasn't absurdly low cut to wear by itself, but one with a higher neck would have looked better with a front left graphic. Maybe just a large centered design on the front would have worked. If you can, see if the company will make you a sample to see if your design works with the garment. I think bluecotton made us those tanks.

Also, that owl design, I think it was on bluecotton, but it appears they redid their site and they don't have their huge sampling of designs.

also with ribbed tanks, the graphic always ends up getting torn.... if that makes sense. I know what you mean about positioning..... its so hard on tanks.... i was thinking the lowerleft hand side (the end of the shirt) just to play it safe.

SWTXBelle 04-06-2008 05:51 PM

For elaborate designs, I'd stick to t-shirts.

txGPHIB 04-28-2010 10:01 PM

our slogan this year is "Make your Mark" but we want to do another slogan for "team" shirts during our recruitment for the disaffiliated girls. Does anyone have any ideas
