Potential expansion

So it seems there are a lot of potential Pi Phi expansions for the 2007-2008 schoolyear. Here are the ones I've noticed where Pi Phi will be presenting:

Georgia Tech (already presented)
Mississippi State
MIT
NYU

All awesome schools, obviously! *crosses fingers*

Did I miss any?

Also, does anyone know of a site online that lists all Pi Phi chapters, including inactive ones, by date of installation? I guess I could try to make one myself based on the massive thread in the recruitment forum...

Somewhere I read that we're presenting at NYU too!

Oh yes, I think I remember reading that too! :)

Did we ever have a chapter at NYU previously? I'm sure we haven't at the other three.

Update:

Georgia Tech - we were not selected :(, but congrats to Alpha Phi!
Mississippi State - WE WERE SELECTED!
MIT - presentations still going on
NYU - presentations finished last week, waiting for an announcement!

Yay for a new chapter at Georgia Tech!

I wanted to go to the presentation at MIT and I was invited, but I couldn't work out my schedule to make the 4 hour drive home. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a Massachusetts chapter!

That would be awesome. I would love to see the NYU presence also.

Did we ever have a Massachusetts chapter or would this be Massachusetts Alpha? *trundles off to search the huge thread in recruitment*

ETA: Just looked it up in irishpipes's Recruitment thread. Assuming her thread is correct, if we get MIT it would actually be Massachusetts Gamma. We previously had chapter at BU and UMass.

We should really make a list of all chapters ever in here like some other sororities have done.

^^^ Yep that's true. I know women who were a part of the BU and UMass chapters, and it can be confirmed in the newest Alumnae Directory.

One of my sons said that a girl in his class (my husband grew up with her mom) had announced she was going to NYU and no one could figure out why she wanted to go so far away. The answer is now obvious, of course: to go to NYU to be in Pi Phi's first pledge class!:D

LOL. I think I'll go call her mom.

Hi ladies, I'm a member of Panhellenic at NYU, and I just wanted to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Pi Beta Phi! We're just so excited to have your chapter join our community; I know New York Eta will thrive here!

carnation 05-06-2008 05:03 PM

Thank you so much! We appreciate your saying that! :)

And y'all, I just got an email that we've been asked to colonize at MIT! Has anyone else heard this?

This is the email I received today:

Colonizing at Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Dear Alumna,

We are excited to announce Pi Beta Phi has been invited to colonize at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Pi Phi submitted extension materials to the MIT extension committee for review. In January, Emily Tarr and I visited the MIT campus. Our visit was very positive and we were extremely impressed with the institute and Greek community. Pi Phi was one of three groups invited to present in April.  The other two groups were Delta Delta Delta and Kappa Kappa Gamma.

There are currently five NPC groups on campus: Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Epsilon Phi, Alpha Phi, Kappa Alpha Theta and Sigma Kappa. Campus Total is 80. MIT's 154-acre campus is home to over 4,000 undergraduates (45 percent female) and 6,000 graduate students. Founded in 1861, MIT is a world-class independent, coeducational, and privately endowed educational institution. MIT's five schools and one college encompass 34 academic departments, divisions and degree-granting programs as well as numerous interdisciplinary centers, laboratories and programs whose work cuts across traditional departmental boundaries. MIT's undergraduate program ranks seventh and MIT's Sloan School of Management ranks second in the nation at the undergraduate level in the 2008 U.S. News and World Report rankings of national universities. The school of engineering has been ranked first among graduate and undergraduate programs since the magazine first released the results of its survey in 1988. The average sorority GPA was 4.35 (on a 5.0 scale) in spring 2007.

Many of you took time to fill out our extension survey and attend our extension presentation. Thank you for showing your support of Pi Phi in this exciting extension endeavor!  Colonizing recruitment for our Massachusetts Gamma chapter will take place in fall 2008. Please join Grand Council in celebrating this wonderful news!

In Pi Phi,
Luellen Smith
Grand Vice President Membership

Pi Phi is presenting for recolonization at Clemson on Wednesday, November 12. Please wish the colonization team luck and pray for the best. If you are near the Clemson area or know a Pi Phi who is who may attend, I would contact HQ for more info.

Fingers crossed - I would love to see us back at Clemson! Thanks for the info!
