2008 Convention
 

Is anyone going to Convention this year?

I am considering going but have some details to work out. Kappa makes it very reasonable to go if you are representing your advisory or alumnae board.

I would love to, but neither our Alumnae Association nor my personal account can afford for me to go. Even with a grant, it's just too much. I went to KC in 2004 because it was within driving distance and had a fabulous time.

Maybe 2010 - I think it might be in Phoenix at the Biltmore again.

I really want to go and may be able to. I'll post details when I know.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that my daughter will be able to go! The chapter Pres has a conflict, and she has expressed an interest in attending in her place. Hopefully, it will work out. I think that would be a wonderful experience for her!

I am planning to be there as an advisory board member. I sang in the choir at the last convention (SLC) and hope to do the same this year!

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will be in Orlando in July. I am too excited for this is my first convention!

Talked to my mom... might get to go! I'm crossing my fingers! :)

I think I'm going to drive down. Plane tickets are expensive, but splitting gas between 4 people isn't that bad. It's about a 10 hour drive from Santa Cruz, though. Ehh...

Is anyone driving down from the Bay Area? :)

About 8 of us will be driving out from southern California. It's pretty close, about 5 hours I think. It's going to be so much fun!

Just wanted to wish everyone a safe trip and HAVE FUN! I really wish I could be there!

I just got back! When I was there, I was like dang, I should have arranged some way to meet up with the GC Kappas while I'm here! I thought about putting it on the reunion board but decided against it. Did you love Convention as much as I did??

I didn't get to go, but I think we would all love to see some pictures!

Lucy, can you tell us who received awards at Convention?

I just found out that my chapter (Lambda) won the Recruitment Award and recieved Honorable Mentions for Standards and Heritage. I am so proud of all my fellow Lambda ladies!

Ohhh, you know what, I totally didn't pick up the pamphlet that said who the winners were. I have the one that says who the honorable mentions were. We got an honorable mention for philanthropy!! I'm so excited!

There's a thing about the alumnae achievement awards on the website, but I don't have the info about chapters and alumnae associations.

I just found out that our association received Honorable Mention for Communications/PR, and the chapter we advise, EN -Vanderbilt, received Honorable Mention for Most Improved Academic Excellence. I know the actives have worked really hard on their grades, and we are so proud of them!

I emailed HQ on Monday asking where we could find a complete list of the award winners. I received a quick return email saying they would be posted this week on the Kappa website. I just checked, however, and nothing yet. . .

I know, I keep checking, too. But then I remind myself that those ladies are probably busy unpacking and getting organized and back in the office post Convention. So maybe next week it'll be up! :)

I think they're getting closer. As of this afternoon, the banner on the website has a new slide show that has pictures from Convention.:)

The website is updated! You have to log in to see everything, but it's there! Reading through everything really makes me wish I would have been able to go. I'm going to start saving now for 2010!

My alma mater, Emory, won the Ritual Award. :)

My Chapter, Epsilon Pi won honorable mention for Philanthropy and winner for the Rose McGill in their category (chapter of about 70). I was SO proud of them! The little silver bowl they received is precious and they can't wait to display it at recruitment this fall!
