Final Harry Potter Book Will Be 2 Movies

HP and the Deathly Hallows will be made into 2 movies instead of one.

I rather like this because I feel that one movie is not enough to do justice to a book like this one. As it is, Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix failed to live up to my expectations because so much was taken out of them to make them fit into 1 movie.

UofISigKap 03-12-2008 11:02 PM

"The "Potter" film franchise has pulled in $4.5 billion at the worldwide box office."

I just can't even fathom that much money.

:p they better hurry up. Daniel Radcliff is getting old!!!

FSUZeta 03-13-2008 07:53 AM

Dang how old are they all now?

It will be kinda hard to make some 20 somethings......

Ummm....never mind....sheesh...they will work overtime doing CGI work for this

Thetagirl218 03-13-2008 01:58 PM

Maybe I am saying this just because I have never read to books, but does anyone else this this two movie business just sounds like a ploy to make more money?

I think for the last book in the Harry Potter series it may be neccessary to have two movies AND it will make more money. ;)

There is no way I would want to be the director of the last movie(s).
I can just imagine the amount of pressure that would come with it. Fans can be ruthless.

ms_gwyn 03-13-2008 10:26 PM

splitting the final movie into 2 parts and then waiting 1 year to show them is a very bad idea...i am not happy about this..

I think the movies are really bad and this will make it worse!

bejazd 03-14-2008 12:06 AM

Have any of you read the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan?

My boys liked Harry Potter, but my younger son liked these even better.
I can picture The Lightening Thief as a movie- and introducing a whole generation of kids to Greek mythology!

It won't be quite that bad. One movie will come out in November 2009 and the other in May 2010.

My son and I have both read them. They're great.

We met Rick Riordan at a reading and book signing for the latest book, The Battle of the Labyrinth. He seemed like a very nice guy -- he certainly was willing to take time with all the kids.

There is indeed a movie of The Lightening Thief in pre-preduction. Riordan said there is a tentative release date of November 2009. (Although, that may change depending on when it gets finished and the fact that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part I, is set to come out that same month.

^^^At least they're only 6 months apart instead of a year, but COME ON....2010? You might as well yell "Crucio" and call it a day.

AGDee 03-01-2009 03:25 AM

Considering that Half Blood Prince isn't coming out until July, 2009, I think if Deathly Hallows comes out in 2010, it will be nothing short of a miracle.

deepimpact2 03-08-2009 06:41 PM

I can see why they would make it into two movies, but it will still be something of a letdown to have to wait that long to see the second part.

nikki1920 03-08-2009 08:45 PM

Considering how much we fans complained that XYZ was left out of the movie, I think they owe it to us to give us the ENTIRE Deathly Hallows book, as written. This way everyone is happy: the fans get the whole book, the studio gets huge returns. Either way, I'll be at the first showing of both movies. :)

sa-weet!!! I re-read the entire book series in the summers. I've gone to the last 2 movies solo, but they're worth it. The movies have always left something to be desired, so I hope they're doing DH right.

precipice 06-29-2010 12:25 AM

I'm actually on-line trying to find a t-shirt that says either "Muggle", "What would Severus Do?" or "Slytherin" to wear on opening day. :o

christiangirl 06-29-2010 01:49 AM

^^^There was a guy who made custom shirts and one said "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good." He's out of business. :(

I saw this early today and totally forgot to post! I did a squeeeeee and a happy dance. :D

SHAME?
There is NO shame in dressing for a movie!

I've done HP t-shirts for all the movie releases (Have a Gryffindor one and a Proclamation one) and will be in full costume for each part of 7. Haven't decided on who to be yet, though!
[[TPA85 = TOTAL HP NERD and perfectly okay with that! :D:D:D]]

Thanks for posting!

I can't wait for this movie to come out! I'm so excited!

Little32 06-29-2010 09:06 AM

I love HP. I am mad there is so much time between the last two movies. They should release one in November and the last in December. Why are they making me wait until 7/11? Argh!

After the major disappointment that was Half-Blood Prince, I fear they'll mess this one up too. I hope I'm wrong.

lovespink88 06-29-2010 09:52 AM

SO EXCITED!!! I started reading the whole series May 09 and finished in March of this year (school got in the way). So this is the first time I get to see one of the movies when it first comes out!!
