Favorite Dance Songs?

I'm looking for very good dance songs
with fun, upbeat beats

I don't care if it's techno, pop, hiphop, rap
whatever is clever - thanks

My favorite dance song is called Unspeakable Joy by Kim English. It has a really nice beat and it's a really cool song. I'm not sure if it's techno or house or anything. Hope this helps

Sig624EI 07-17-2001 11:50 PM

Hmm Dance songs....

The one I'm listening to now is Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers- Mary Janes Last Dance. It's a good one. A lot of old ones are still good, People can't help but smile when they listen to an old song, that they heard when they were like 10 or so, nostalgic (sp) I guess. god I'm getting old. Though I still like Darude, Sandstorm it's a great techno song.

You have to bust out a classic or two from the 80's. For example, house of pain, kriss kross, tone loc, whatever else.

There's a new song I heard on the radio recently, very Techno, called "Sandstorm" but I dont know who it's by. Try a title search on any online music server and they'll have it. It is quite cool.

I agree on funk with George Clinton. Definitely gets you going. Ska is good too. When I was in school we had a band local to Virginia called Fighting Gravity. I think their named changed but they were awesome. Always a packed crowd at the bars. Some of the 70s and 80s songs make good dance songs. DJ Mikko stands out in my mind. You also cant go wrong with Erasure. The clubs in DC used to play their music a lot when I was in school.

Dianne 07-19-2001 12:45 AM

OK, while I love hip hop and all that stuff, I am huge fan of music from the 70's and 80's. You can't go wrong with Brick House by the Commodores, Dancing Queen by Abba (which is like my theme song!), Hazy Shade of Winter by the Bangles, ANYTHING from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack or Dirty Dancing soundtrack, anything from Madonna's early days (Borderline, Material Girl). And the best is definitely Bust a Move by Young MC!

Does anybody know the name of that song that is being played on the radio and it also appears on a car commercial. It doesn't really have any words but 'Fire it up'. It's got a great beat and everytime I hear it while driving I just tap my fingers to it.

It's called "Start the Commotion" by the Wiseguys. That came on the radio the other night when we were out on my friend's boat and I started jamming. I almost fell off the boat!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

three2tango 07-31-2001 11:01 PM

Okay, I know these are kind of funny songs and they don't work well for regular parties but they are great for mixers and socials where there is no drinking.

The Chicken Dance and the Hokey Pokey.

The Chicken Dance is my personal favorite, I can't sit that one out.

Starlet 08-01-2001 01:56 AM

My favorite dance songs include:
-I agree that the NYC Underground Party 3 CD is awesome
-"Fly Away"--don't know who sings it...kind of reminds me of the song "Start the Commotion"
-"Party Up"-DMX
-"Next Episode"-Dr.Dre & Snoop
-"Miracle"-Fragma (techno heard in clubs)
-"Stomp to My Beat"-JS-16 (not sure if that's the right group's name)
-"Bombs Over Baghdad"-Outkast
-"Ante Up"-M.O.P.
-"Like a Prayer"-Madonna http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

* Smooth Criminal - Alien Ant Farm

Ok, I am sure I'll come up with more...

"Estoy Aqui" Shakira. (pronounced like the bannana, chaquta) All in Spanish, but a damn good song. TOTALLY WORTH DOWNLOADING

"Ciega Sordomuda" Shakira

"A fine Day" by ATB

"All I want" by Angel Moon

"Outlaw" by Olive

"I see you baby" by Groove Armada

"here we go" freestylers

"Another Way" Paul VanDyk

"History Repeating" Propellerheads

"Get Busy Child" Crystal Method

"Diesel Power" Prodigy

"Feel it" Tamperer

"toca's miracle" Fragma

"you are alive" Fragma

"Children" Robert Miles

"Better off Alone" Any of the remixes, Alice Deejay

"I will love again" Laura Fabian

Most of these are club songs, thats what I think of when I I think dance. But there are other songs in other categories, good times songs you gotta dance to, and soul/funk dance.

I am sure I'll think of more...

If you're interested in dance songs, and you're running itunes (much safer than limewire or those russian sites, and it supports the artists who make the music)

check this link -- the "euro club hits" series:

http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/M...Club+Hits+Vol+

This series the "Euro Club Hits" I think has some real winners on it.....
