Houses in the Works
Anyone know of any houses that are in the works to be built? I thought this would be interesting.

The Pi Phi house at SMU is getting demolished this summer and a new house is being built on the lot. It is supposed to be completed fall of 2009 I think. If I can come up with some plans on line, I'll post them, but the plans that were mailed to us looked pretty amazing.

North Carolina State Greek Village Plans: Infrastructure construction for Phase 1 will begin in April 2008, and building lots will be available for house construction in the fall. Anticipate the first houses opening in late 2009 and early 2010.

The Phi Kappa Psi House is beautiful. It is so very "Hill Country". Where is the lot?

That lot is worth a fortune!!!

Unless they win the lottery the house isn't going to get built. Their current house is still owned by Sigma Chi, who's coming back next year. They're moving into SDT's house next year I hear.
With the new property taxes there's no way they can build that. |
Well, it's an amazing plan at least, Phi Psi. And I like the look of SN's- love the Prairie Style. And if it's true about UT Sigma Chis, I'm glad to hear they're getting to come back on campus.

FSU is going to double the size of our campus and eventually have three "Heritage Groves." Heritage will be the all greek housing. Phi Delt, Pike, and Lambda Chi are the only fraternities that will have their same house in 20 years. My chapter will have a big new house within ten years, right now we have a house that accompanies 48 brothers but we want to have one with a larger common area and that looks more impressive from the outside.

That AOPi house that's getting built is going to be amazing.
It's suppose to be around 7 or 8 mill. |

William-Jewel, Liberty, Mo. NW of down town area is building a new Sorority houseing area for the first time. Sororitys will have houses for the first time ever.
No plans for designs as of yet. Fraternity Houses already there, LXA, SN, PGD, and KA. |

McNeese State University - Kappa Sigma Fraternity - Theta Rho Chapter Currently under construction, the first floor will contain common area, kitchen, dining, as well as four bedrooms. The second floor will contain eight bedrooms, and four bathrooms. The third floor will contain the library and quiet study areas. This will be by far the biggest house at McNeese, as the only other two fraternities are Kappa Alpha Order and Theta Chi. With 2 members Theta Chi has no housing anymore and Kappa Alpha has a one story house, I'm sure how big it is, but compared to the new Kappa Sigma house, it doesn't look nearly as appealing. There are also three sorority houses, but none have any women living in them. They are for basic meeting purposes only. |

Now we just need to get someone to post a picture in the houses thread!

that will pretty much show you all houses except Sigma Phi Epsilon, Pi Kappa Alpha, and Gamma Phi Beta which were recently built after these pictures were gathered up. |
Arrrggghhh! It's the Gamma Phi house I want to see!:)

I love these houses (South Carolina). They are all so big and new. They all look different - and very Southern. I may have a new favorite "Greek Row/campus." :)

ADPi is building a new house at Washington and Lee. I've seen plans for it long, long ago. When they built the five current houses (completion of those houses occurred in 2000) they reserved a space for a potential sixth house and completed plans for it as well. It will be similar to the current houses with a different facade and probably reversed layout (each of the houses are the same but "flipped" in various ways and (obviously) with different decor. The plans I saw were from the Pi Phi chapter history back when the houses were being planned & constructed and there was a layout scheme for all six houses. Ironically the sixth house on the plans was labeled "Delta Delta Delta." I'm not sure what that was all about. Maybe wishful thinking on the part of some Tri-Delt architect? LOL. AFAIK there was never any attempt at expansion between KD in 1997 (the plans for the houses were put into motion around 1997) and the failed attempt in 2005. But those plans (which probably ended up in a lot of chapter histories from the architectural presentations to Panhellenic, etc) sure led to a lot of misinformation and confusion among sorority women at W&L. I'm hoping to get some shots of the house in progress when I go to campus in July for a wedding. For the person who posted about the NC State housing, I'm curious where the sorority houses will be on that plan. It looks like all the initial houses are going to fraternities... |
Florida Institute of Technology
I'm an alumna on the Fraternity/Sorority housing commitee and as of last Thrusday's meeting, we are awaiting final approval for our new Greek Housing...The Board of Trustees meets in a couple of weeks to decide if the new Greek Village will be a go. Estimated to be a $20 million project, it's been in the works for 6 years now and it's nice to see things materialize. Pending approval, they should be completed in Fall of 2010. There will be a total of 8 houses (5 fraternities and 3 sororities).
Yeah for new greek housing! |
That's really exciting - I may have mentioned before that I grew up in Melbourne!
|
I remember you telling me that once before. It probably won't be a while until we have the plans drawn up, as we've already shot down on set from the developer, so we are working on a new one. The one thing that SUCKS is that the school has mandated that the interior floorplans of the houses ALL have to be the same. Trying to get both fraternities and sororities to agree on everything is FUN, FUN, FUN!
|
Same Floor Plans
Fraternities AND sororities?? Oh, my. I don't envy you that job!

I drove past it this past weekend when I was down in Gainesville for the SEC Beach Volleyball Tournament. Looks like construction is underway on their new house. |

Where is the FIJI house currently? I dont think I've seen it yet. Also, which house is under construction on UF's campus? I'm pretty sure it was a fraternity house on or near 13th street. I dont think it was on the row. The thing looked MASSIVE! |
That's awesome congrats! I remember jogging by when I lived down there this past fall, and I recall seeing construction pictures on one of the brothers' facebook. (Can't remember who, I stumbled on it)
