Real World/Road Rules 10!!!
Hey everyone.. ok so i missed the premire of real world 10 and im DYING to know which people went where!!!!!
i watched the casting special and i must say it was very interesting.. i cant wait to see the drama that happens this time!!! im not sure if anyone else caught this...but Kevin (who was picked to be on one of the shows not sure which one though) was wearing a "chi-o tri delt spring formal shirt") does anyone know what fraternity he is in?? he also during one of the show and tell things showed a cross that he said his mother gave to him..and it looked very much like a cross i had seen on a sigma chi house somewhere.. im not sure though... ANYWAYS...does anyone know who is on real world and road rules this season..im so addicted to those shows..its crazy http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif |
First epsiode of RW doesn't air till next tuesday I believe. And on the casting special they didn't say which shows anyone was going on.
one of the other guys, maybe kevin, I think too mentioned someting about the group being more than or like a fraternity when the show was almost over. he probably is in one also. i noticed the shirt thing too!! for a while they had the names blurred out but they forgot in one shot and i caught it. sneaky pete i am http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif I'm enjoying the old seasons marathons and I think this one is gonna be a great season for the shows! they're changing a few things around on the shows this season which I think will totaly mess it up! On RW if you get fired from the job you may get voted off and if you miss more than two missions on RR the cast has to vote someone off. I always thought of RR and RW as very original when it came to reality tv and I think now it's just trying to be like survivor and the rest, which are really different and I don't think they should try to compete. What does everyone else think? |

***WARNING***
DON'T READ IF YOU WANT TO BE SUPRISED BY THE FIRST EPISODE ***LAST CHANCE*** Ok, the people that made the Real World house are Rachel, Mike, Lori, Kevin, Malik, Nicole, and Coral. Ellen, Blair, Jisela, Jason, Sophia, and whatever the other guy's name was (Steve, Tom...?) are on Road Rules. Apparently Malik "has some problem in production early on in the taping" so I don't know what's up with him for the season. Personally I think it's crappy that they let them meet and interact together prior to picking...that's not the "real world"...it's not raw anymore, now they're just casting for dynamics. I believe they purposely put Lori/Kevin, Malik/Nicole, and Jisela/Sophia together to if anyone would hook up. [This message has been edited by LeslieAGD (edited June 27, 2001).] |
I saw the casting special last night and i also agree that they shouldnt have let me interact before the shows actually start. Of course, the 13 that got picked dont know which show they are on, but still, they know who is who basically. Now when they find out what show they are on and who is with them then they will all just be like "oh okay".
I also saw that guy, forgot his name, wearing a Chi O-Tri Delta Spring formal shirt. At first it was blurred out but they forgot to blurr it out from one shot! Anyway, the guy that has cancer, is sooo cute and seems like a sweetie. He likes Lori and she has a boyfriend! We'll see how that goes. About Road Rules, i thought the new rule was that if your team looses a mission than you have to vote someone off, not if you miss a mission. LeslieAGD, how do you know who is on which show? |
|
I was so excited when they showed the tshirt! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif It actually said "Spring Casual" which I think is too funny. I was watching it with a GDI friend & yelled "his shirt says Chi O!" She was impressed. lol

WOW! im so excited now...
i cant wait!! yeha letting them interact sucked! i always loved how they always were surprised by their roomates at the first episode.. its not fun anymore.. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif only exciting surprise will be what amazing house they are gonna live in this time! they should have put coral and ellen together.. that would have made for some interesting arguments! oh well.. i think the guy kevin is a super cutie too! way adoarable.. u know him and lori are gonna hook up..its sooooo obvious! but the MTV is taking away the element of surprise! but i am starting to expect less and less from MTV..its alllll fake to me..ever since i went to MTV summer beachouse in the KEYS..can u say FAKE, RIGGED, MTV CONCENTRATION CAMP!!! never never never again... but that is another story...lol.. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif ------------------ Love, Honor, Truth |
About the reunion:
It was great seeing everyone interacting with each other. Hearing their post-RW stories were pretty entertaining...especially Puck's run-in with the law...and having one of the officers be none other than Irene. 7 years after his death, Pedro Zamora's still inspiring us all. I'm glad Rachel finally settled down. And Nick's baby girl is just the cutest thing! On to the Casting Special: I wanted to bish slap Coral within the first 5 minutes of the casting special. I thought Sophia and Rachel was the most genuine out of them all...I think the cast members will learn a lot from them this season. Isolating them in that house was wrong. The first episodes aren't going to be the same because of this arrangement. It would've been interesting to see Coral and Ellen go at it. Their reconciliation at the end made me want to puke. I just don't know if I'll enjoy this season. We'll see. |

Here's some funny stuff from another website:
Real World Reunion : cast threatens to walk, verbal fight breaks out. At the 10-year reunion of all past Real World cast members, things got ugly. First, the cast threatened to walk off the set of a photo shoot unless they were paid $5,000 each for their time. They didn't get any money from a very pissed-off MTV, who reportedly threatened to kick them out of their hotels and make them fly back at their own expense, although the network has apparently agreed to negotiate future appearances in advance. Later, Boston's Kameelah, SF's Puck (and his mother), and Seattle's Stephen got into a fight. Other News : LA's Aaron, Hawaii's Colin, and London's Jacinda, among others, want nothing to do with The Real World and didn't show up. Also, London's Jay apparently attended with a guy, Seattle's Stephen and New Orleans' Danny were drunk, and someone from Bunim-Murray said Hawaii's Matt is "a prick." Something to think about: out of all the cast members, Colin-Hawaii was originally a reject of the show...you would think he would have appriciated the real world more than most! I'll tell you what I don't like. Why does everyone have to be so young. I mean, I'm 24 but I would like to see peopl in their mid to late 20s like it used to be. Remember the first few seasons, NY & LA. On the first season, Julie was 18 and everyone else was like 25 & up. I just like to see more seasoned people. Not that there shouldn't be any college age people but just throw in some older ones as well.

DST, they put an age limit on the cast members and I believe they can be 18-26. Although it does seem like most cast members are 19-22.

Hey IowaHawkeye.. I'm from Oak Lawn http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif
Small world! |
I agree with everyone that they shouldn't have let them interact at that house. I thought the whole truth & dare thing was pretty stupid too. It was so weird how upset the people who didn't get picked got. It was like their life was over now that they didn't get picked--especially that Seagun guy. I also agree with OTW about Coral. I wanted Ellen to smack her. She's defintely going to be the bitch of the house.
The new RR premieres on Monday July 9th. I believe that after they lose their second mission they have to start voting people off. It's so lame that they are doing that whole Survivor thing. I always thought they were above that. Oh well. Lastly, did you notice that they only focused on a handful of people at the Reunion? I didn't even know Glen from LA was there until they showed him in the group pic. They should have focused on everybody equally. |
This RW/RR thing seems played out to me. The BEST part of the show, in my opinion, is the first episode, when people are trying to figure out what makes their housemates tick. Now, people know who they don't want to room with, who to stay away from.
What was up with that guy who was crying? I feel like a lot of these kids are hoping RR/RW will be their "big break", like Eric from The Grind. Whatever... The people who turn their backs on the Real World seem to be the ones who got the most outside publicity from it. I don't remember seeing Jacinda in any ads BEFORE she got on the Real World...didn't Colin get on a TV show after Hawaii? What's up with these kids? I was happy to see Andre from the first one back...they seem like the most active, pro-RW cast. Wasn't that the only fully intact cast? Does anyone else notice how they harass the virgins on the show? The way they were messing with the little blond girl during the auditions was NOT cool...plus, wasn't it funny how they put Elka, Jon, and (New Orleans) Julie in this room together? |
The reason that everyone is so young on RW is because MTV caters to the 18-24 age bracket. They feel that if they put someone on RW that was 25 or older, nobody would watch the show. (The wonderful stuff I learn in my business marketing classes http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif )

Did ya'll know that the producers of Real World wanted to do the same concept with senior citizens? They wanted to stick 55-65 year old people in a house and tape it for all the nation to see. Now THAT sounds like an exciting show, lol! I can't imagine why they didn't go through with that idea!

Hey Finest_Alum - I went to Mother McAuley for high school - right in your neighborhood http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif
I can't wait to see the first episode of RW 10 - I love that show - their houses are awesome and the people are either so cool that i wish i knew them or so annoying that i can't stop talking about it! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif Hey - on that spoiler site they said this "An only child of divorced parents, Mike found a sense of family in his college fraternity, according to the show's notes." Any clue as to what fraternity he is in and at what school? [This message has been edited by IowaHawkeye (edited June 29, 2001).] |
Something that I've noticed for the most recent casts or RR and RW.
If you want to get on the show it really helps to not only be 19-22 but also: 1. A student at Berkeley 2. Southern, and willing to play it up for the camera. "I'm from the South so I don't know nuttin about race relations!" 3. From Chicago. Both Jaime and David in NO were from the Windy City. (But from "different sides of the tracks.) Also, at the reunion, Lindsay (Seattle) wouldn't shut up about the crush she had on Jaime while in high school! |
Yes SoCalGirl - this means my chances of getting on are getting even better http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif I'm from Chicago too - Janet from RW Boston went to Northwestern I believe (Chicago). On the most recent RW 10 and RR 10 - Rachel is from a chicago suburb (orland) and Ellen "the princess" is from Vernon Hills, another chicago 'burb. Real World 11 is currently being shot in chicago (wriggleyville) - so you know there will be at least one native (hopefully!) http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
|
Perhaps what happens is those places, Chicago, Berkeley etc, is that is where the the open casting calls are, or nearby, and the producers are more likely to pick ppl who they met in person instead of ppl who just sent in a tape. Just a thought.
------------------ ~*~to be true to ourselves, to those within and without our circle ~*~ |
Open casting calls are usually in the major cities on both coasts: SF, LA, DC, and NYC.
|
Miami is a major city...how come they don't do casting calls here?
|
They do casting calls all over the place - they did one in my college town this year at the Union Bar (biggest bar in the Big 10) and i am in Iowa City, which is by no means a "major city" haha http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif I've heard they go to a lot of college campuses looking for the next stars of RW and RR
|
Just wanted to say that I was really excited because I knew someone on the casting special.. the annoying guy named Segun that was stripping. I'm excited I know him, but he really is that shallow and irritating in person. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif

I actually went to the open casting call in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois three years ago, and although I was rejected (and still even have the official letter informing me of the fact. :-)), I still adore the shows. I agree completely with all the other posts about the new rules and meeting each other before hand though. BAD IDEAS!! However, I still can't help but think it would be cool to have a place in the next selected cast.

Well, everyone knows that the RW producers like/shoot for controversy, so of course there will be the ultra-"traditional/conservative" (can't find the right word) boy there (that Caucasian boy from Ohio who is racist http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/frown.gif) vs. the more liberal, kinda "interesting" ppl (like the girl Coral from San Francisco, who practices New Age-y stuff and also tarot cards), as well as the boy from Berkeley, who is supposedly involved in activism. Supposedly the RW drama will center between Coral and the boy from Ohio, since supposedly during the first episode, Coral picks up on his racist habits (Coral is also African-American.).
San Francisco and Berkeley (both in the Bay Area) are always portrayed on the media as the liberal, activist, more "wacky" places. Which I find kinda funny - because the typical San Franciscan is liberal, yes, but also pretty "normal." [This message has been edited by newbie (edited July 02, 2001).] |

You guys are so right - talk about playing up stereotypes!!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif
Has anyone else from San Francisco or Berkeley been on RW before?? Are they always more "eccentric"????? Sheesh, I don't even know anyone in SF who reads tarot cards and such. Actually, ya know - once I encountered a tourist (I live in SF) and he asked me, "So where are all the hippies at? Can ya direct me - I wanna see them." http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/rolleyes.gif I've had tourists come up to my friends and they have actually said, "Gee, San Francisco seems so tame. Have you seen the film "Berkeley in the '60's? How come there's no activism going on?"<--NEWSFLASH: 1) This is SF - not Berkeley, which is a different town. 2) There IS activism going on, but it's not the same activism of the '60s that they are looking for. BrianMUDU posted in the greek life forum that Mike from RW 10 is a Theta Chi at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.... I did not like how he acted or how he was portrayed tonight... from what they showed that is going to happen this season - i know it's going to be an interesting one http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/eek.gif Kevin said he's a senior at the university of texas... anyone know if he's greek?

anyway, I just wanted to share a cool website for all my fellow RW/RR junkies www.mightybigtv.com miss an eposide of your favorite show, then check out this site to caught up. But I must warn you, don't read the site while you're at work http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
Okay, well Kevin is a student at UT. That is sooo cool. Nice to see a fellow Texan on the show. I wonder if he is from austin, i know he goes to school there but he could be from Houston http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif he is SO HOT!!!
|
They did a casting call in Baton Rouge a few years back, that's how Theo from RR got on.
I have a friend...well, not a friend anymore, but a guy I know, is such a mean person he'd be perfect for the show. He's one of those people who is hiarious until he turns his sense of humor on you http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/tongue.gif I've also considered making tapes of random friends while they're doing homework or at their computer just to be silly and send them in http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif |
