For Current Greeks ONLY

We all know how everyone likes to get on "interested" individuals who have done silly, comedic, entertaining and even retarded things when directly or indirectly inquiring about information about a prospective fraternity or sorority. Now that YOU'RE Greek, what silly things have you guys done as interests for your respective organizations?

Senusret I 03-05-2008 11:14 AM

This thread has been done before.

Who are you?

ladygreek 03-05-2008 11:16 AM

And can you not use phrases such as "retarded" things.

DSTCHAOS 03-05-2008 12:09 PM

Ditto on all of that.

I feel the need to share. I'm so embarassed now that I think about it. I dressed up like a pink elephant and danced around campus. But people kept ignoring me. :(

(Was it the pink or the elephant that pissed them off?)

Pink always makes me think of "Dumbo" - did you sing "Pink Elephants on Parade", too?

So, suppose I was an interest for a hypothetical ABC Fraternity, Inc., (member of the NPHC, colors of navy and orange) and I was a student at Auburn University (member of the SEC, colors of navy and orange). Would I have to forego wearing my school colors during my time as an aspirant? (Is that even the right word?) In a less hypothetical situation, can DST interests at UGA not wear red? Even if it's football season?

If these questions are out of line, just say the word, but it just struck me as interesting.

Handskillz? So tell us, what are you skilled at doing?

Handskillz 03-06-2008 03:10 AM

"Hand skills" is a colloquial term used in my neighborhood for a male or female who was able to box well as a result of being able to punch or block at an abnormal speed. To answer your question, I'm skilled at plenty of things. Thanks for the inquiry. :)

Just wanted to mention that not all interested individuals do "silly, comedic, entertaining, or retarded things" on their quest to Greekdom. Some actually do what is expected of them: maintain a GPA higher than the minimum requirement set by the prospective organization, practice discretion, get to know members on and off campus, attend community service events and programming, etc.

You'd think that by now, with ALL the information about ALL aspects of Greek life, anyone considering going Greek would have access to everything they need to know to avoid these types of situations.
